Bobman’s Hardware & Houseware

Came in here today to help a buddy with a little DIY project on a high end credenza he recently acquired via craigslist.
Basically we needed something to drill a hole in this weird lacquered wood material that’s so hot in the high end furniture world these days.
The selection was a little sparse and I have to agree with the other reviewers musings about how they can stay afloat in the world of mega stores like Lowes, but I think the earnest service and geographic convenience are big helpers here. Plus supporting great small businesses is what Unilocal all about so I got to show bob mans some love.
The owner was hilarious in his old school overly helpful sort of way. He scolded us for being on our phones and then got really deep into what we were doing and were going to need for the job. He also offered a bit of advice to avoid drilling large holes that let rodents in. I mean come on? You don’t get that kind of service at big box store.
So I say yay! I’m a fan and implore all y’all Unilocalin to give this place some business.

This old style store is fine for basic repairs, but I honestly don’t know how he is able to survive and compete with the large selections of Home Depot and Lowe’s.

Bobman’s is a wonderful, old-​style hardware store, where you can find nearly anything you need for basic home repair and maintenance. If you are in the neighborhood, he can often save you time and sometimes money. Tightly packed within his shelves, cabinets, and drawers, they have nearly all the plumbing parts, electrical parts, screws, bolts, and tools you could need. Keep in mind, you won’t find 20 different brands of drills or wrenches, but he carries good quality brands and his prices are reasonable. He also has old-​style parts (eg: fuses) that the homes in the neighborhood use. Try finding that at a big box store. He also keeps excellent hours for a neighborhood hardware store and is open 7 days per week until 9:00 pm on most nights.
