There are very few things I don’t like about this place. The positives definitely outweigh the negatives. I can here with my mom, we were both immediately taken by the quiet atmosphere that makes a customer feel like the shop is open just for them. The shop assistant was accommodating – didn’t hesitate to hand is the different menus for the limited edition, blends, and pure teas. There were so many I liked I wanted to take them all home. I settled on the High Mountain Oolong tea, and really wanted to take it home in their unique tins. Now this was the only issue I had: part of the tea culture is preserving the teas in canisters that will keep it away from air and light. The air and light will oxidize the tea and make it lose its flavor and benefits. The shop does not give the customer the option to buy the tin separate. If a customer wants to buy the tin, they have to spend more money on the tea. Ex: 2 ounces of tea = 19.50 without tin– Tin with same tea(3.5 ounces) = $ 72. I understand that it makes sense in a way because the tea is very rare. But at the same time by limiting the circumstances in which a customer can buy the tin hinders the amount of education a customer gets about the tea culture, and I feel limits the amount of money they can get from customers. I will definitely be going back though. The tea is great, the people are nice, and the atmosphere is present.

I only get my tea there(the Queen’s Guard). I love the atmosphere. Makes you wish it was a tea salon as well.

This is hands down one of the most gorgeous tea shops I’ve ever visited. If you are a tea lover traveling through NY you should definitely make the trip out to Brooklyn to check this place out. You’ll only find best quality tea here, handcrafted in small batches and packaged exquisitely. For a look inside, please see my full review:

Even three years after leaving Brooklyn, I can’t give up Bellocq. Luckily, their online service team is great. They even send a free sample with each order. I’ve tried other tea shops and suppliers, and none of them have that subtle, special balance of Bellocq teas. Bellocq always stocks great oolongs(my favorite type), but they’ve also convinced me that blended tea can be very good. You’ll never get a terribly synthetic or overly fruity concoction from Bellocq. As someone who spent a long time thinking I could only like pure teas, I highly recommend the White Duke blend to anyone interested in trying out the blended teas.

I have grown to like their teas as there is a really subtle taste to them. I am a huge fan of the ginger mint tea that is light and subtle and not so over invasive as others on the taste pallet. I paid about $ 16CND plus tax for a decent size bag.

I absolutely adore this place. It’s a beautiful respite from this industrial part of Greenpoint. It’s a little hard to find, but there is a little sign on the door and a big bell hanging by it. Once you step inside, I know this sounds cheesy, but it really is like you’re transported to another world. It’s so entirely peaceful and calm in there. The music, the smell of the tea, the quiet, and the muted sunlight(the windows are covered so that light still comes through but it’s less harsh) all combine to make this the perfect little shop. The interior is gorgeous. The teas are all displayed so that you can see and smell each kind, and there are curtains leading into a cute little seating area with light pink chairs and couches, tables, and plants. There is wood everywhere, and the dark purple of the walls, the bright yellow tea canisters behind the counter, and the old measuring set all added to the perfect atmosphere. It was so peaceful I almost wanted to stay and take a nap! I spent quite a while smelling the different teas and reading about them on the pamphlet that is provided. The girl who was working was super sweet and knowledgeable. She didn’t rush me or push me into trying anything or buying anything. I asked her a couple of questions and she gave me great suggestions on which teas to get for what purposes and how to brew them at home. I ended up buying a chai and a lemongrass one, and she even asked me if I wanted any samples to take home, which I did! Once I chose my teas, they were measured carefully into gorgeous packaging, and she handwrote(in beautiful handwriting!) on each one the name of the tea and how many ounces were in the package. I had a few other purchases from the day so she helped me arrange everything into one bag, which was really sweet of her!

Great tea selection and a beautiful space. Their Roasted Kukicha is the best I’ve ever had.

Cute, friendly, adorable little seating area. They are expanding so they will have a small café for buying beverages on the go. It’s a little hidden and there isn’t much to see around here but if you are a tea connoisseur it’s worth a drop by. Plenty of places in the neighborhood and NYC serve Bellocq, so not an immediate need to stop by this location.

Heaven. Heaven. Heaven. Heaven. This place is amazing!!! The tea selection is amazing and the quality is absolutely phenomenal. Coming from a tea aficionado, this is a place where any tea lover will find what they are looking for. But non-tea aficionados need not be intimidated. There is no pretension!

I am obsessed. Beautiful store. Black tea that tastes so good you don’t need sugar. Friendly, unpretentious staff. Very reasonably priced for such high quality tea and the 2 oz bags will go a long way. Definitely coming back.

Drop by before/after Transmitter Park for a great selection, but keep your eyes peeled for the entrance — they don’t seem to realize /care that a closed and stuck black door is not a way to welcome customers, especially in this area.

Cute. Quaint. Wide variety of teas. They even have a small sitting area that feels like home sweet home. As soon as you walk in, it’s very aromatic. This place is the perfect shop for a tea fanatic.

If you’re a tea drinker you need to try this place. There are so many tea options from jasmine to different green teas, and matcha… All of the teas are loosely picked and packaged in these really cute tins. There is an option of either purchasing your tea in a tin, which is the larger option or purchasing it in a tea bag(smaller option). Inside, there is a table with loose teas on small dishes available for your smelling pleasure. There’s a really cute space in the back with cute chairs and plants hanging from the ceiling. Overall really cute place and wonderful teas.

OMGosh am I happy to have discovered this adorably cute and awesome tea shop. First off the inside is absolutely beautiful and makes you want to just stay there and relax. Second off the lady working there when I picked up tea was super friendly and awesome and cool and I want us to be friends. Third I love hibiscus tea and green tea(they have many types) and my boyfriend loves earl grey. Needless to say, I walked out with $ 70 worth of tea. I’ll be back!

Bellocq is a lovely, gorgeous atelier for all things tea. The atmosphere is serene and the packaging is exquisitely beautiful. We initially came in to buy a Signature Blends box for the holidays, but unfortunately they were sold out at the shop. The salesperson offered to ship the box to our destination so it would be ready in time for Christmas. All in all, great customer service and the staff is clearly very knowledgeable about the teas. The best part is the samples they have steeping at the counter for tasting — I never knew that oolong tea could be so light on the tongue!

My last trip through the area saw me spend most of my time in Brooklyn. I didnt realize how many of the products that are hard to find at home I was basically walking distance to here. Mast brothers chocolate, Eveil Twin Beer, and now Bellocq tea. It was warm when I was last here and iced was the way I was going to go. Some exquisite and tasty black tea does the trick. Darjeeling, Assam TGF, Etoile deI inde are among my faves…

Exquisite tea atelier in Greenpoint. The décor and atmosphere are alone reason to visit; the private tea salon room is stunning and I can only imagine how fabulous it would be to rent it out for a private, group tea tasting. Loved perusing and sampling the teas as well. The friendly salesperson behind the counter brewed some samples for me to try. Bellocq tea is readily available at retailers all over the city but it’s definitely worth a visit to the atelier for the atmosphere.

We’ve rarely entered in such an amazing tea store, whatever you stare at looks like a stillborn painting. The scents are incredible and the packaging design is quite amazing. We fell in love for this stainless tea cannister with its yellow label We had a crush on the Siam Basil lemongrass and the Hindu Holdiay(flower and ginger and caradamon scents).

This place is heaven for any tea lover. The cool thing about Bellocq is that the owners have retained the look of the factory that once inhabited the building. While their hours for retail customers are short. their selection if phenomenal. I had a hard time choosing which tea to purchase. It’s little far to get to every day, but to go once in a while for a special tea sounds like a nice idea to get out of the house.

This is QUINTESSENTIAL Williamsburg. You’re walking down a street with graffiti on industrial metal doors, scaffolding on shmancy-apartments-to-be, and trash in the gutter, and you pull open a door on an unmarked building. All of a sudden, like Alice falling into the rabbit hole, you’re in the middle of a little forest. Literally. There are trees and plants everywhere. The place looks like a horticulturist’s display in an Anthropologie catalogue. Oh, and tea. Lots and lots and lots of tea. 5 stars for decorations — because seriously, this is a cross between a greenhouse and Anthropologie — but the prices are absurd. Do you have $ 26 to spend on 4 oz of tea? I don’t.
