We are living in Brisbane and usually coming to Teriyaki House once or twice a week just to buy and takeout some sushi rolls for dinner at home. Its pretty much cheap, quality is good and staff is friendly. Sometimes you have to wait a little bit because there are a lot of customers inside, especially during the evening. Parking lot always is quite free(shared with other restaurants around)

I keep giving this place a chance and they keep disappointing me. The first time I came here it was awful, I gave it another shot and its been hit or miss every time. This is the only place in Brisbane but it’s the worth the extra drive to SSF or even SF. I just ordered a chicken teriyaki and it was so foul I wouldn’t even feed it to my dog. They are gross and over priced. I’m boycotting this place for good.

Owner doesn’t care about customers. She’s very bad. I will never come here again and eat their food.

Went there to eat lunch with our company. We’ve been there a few times before. Food was ok. salad looks old. Customer service was ok also. We keep returning thinking it would get better. There was lipstick on one of our cup on our last time the. The owner was very rude.

Born in Hawaii, I have major chicken katsu cravings. This place hits the spot! The katsu is crisp, perfectly fried. Teriyaki House is a family-run business with the same owners as House of Thai. It is a small restaurant with 10ish tables, but I have never had to wait to be seated. The staff is nice – they treat you like family friends. The waiter has a sense of humor. I recommend getting a chicken katsu bento box. It’s a pretty generous portion of food for dinner. Prices aren’t amazingly cheap, but they’re fair in my opinion. Parking is never a problem. They have a private lot. This is not a place to get ultra-authentic Japanese food. It’s not a kaiseki ryori or omakase level place, but it’s pretty good and I enjoy eating here a lot

Quaint little restaurant, I think it’s connected to the Thai restaurant next door as well. Weekdays seem pretty slow here, including the service, the waiter was more fixated on the TV in the restaurant and 49ner game than tending to customers… no big deal, it’s a very casual restaurant. Got the combo bento, soup, salad, veg tempura and Saba. The miso soup was watery and missing umami miso flavor, not much tofu and lacking ingredients such as enoki mushrooms or green onions… the salad was just plain iceberg lettuce, shredded carrots and a lackluster dressing, blah, could eat it. The veg tempura was good, crispy, not oily, kabocha, beans, carrots. The Saba was good, soy marinade and broiled. Diverse menu, small dining area, ambiance ok but friendly.

I have been to this restaurant twice now. Upon entry you will notice that the space is actually shared with the thai place next door. There is an opening that leads into the other restaurant. It seems the seating is done separate but the food is all done in the same kitchen. Each seating area is decorated accordingly. It is an interesting way of doing things to say the least but not completely unheard of. On my first visit I was received by a polite, casual, and friendly worker who sat me immediately upon arrival. He seems to be family of the owners from what I gather by my visits. He quickly took my order and sent it back. The food came out slow despite having very few customers and when it did land it left me desiring something better. I walked out that night feeling like the only reason I didn’t write off the place was because of the friendly service I had received. My second visit was a mess of an experience. Instead of coming in during the evening I came during the lunch period. This time I had to ask to seat myself. I was helped by 3 different people including the worker from my first experience. The first man told me I could sit down where ever and just walked away. The worker from my first visit took my order politely again and brought it into the back. Shortly after(much quicker then the first night) I received my food from a third person. I had ordered the Beef bento box and the first things I noticed was that my tempura was a little cold and the plate a little empty. I am not that picky of person so I ate it with no complaints. As I reached the steak portion of my meal I found it to be over cooked, stringy, and all in all lackluster. It was disappointing to say the least. The third worker came out again to deliver my check as I was finishing up. Just as I finished he rushed over opened the check to see if I had already paid. It left me feeling rushed. I paid for my meal and just before leaving I caught a glimpse of a less then pleasant exchange between a heavy accented lady worker and the polite worker I had dealt with on both visits. The lady started to yell at him in front of customers about something I could not understand. she was walking all around the restaurant while screaming at this man for whatever reason about common sense scowling while she threw menus down on tables. It was an uncomfortable situation and sealed the deal on this place for me. I don’t ever think I will be coming back here. The food is lacking, the service is unreliable, and the professionalism demonstrated is poor. I don’t know how this place is in business. Avoid it. The price isn’t reasonable enough to deal with this experience.

My friends and I all love this place — the staff are even starting to recognize us and talk to us haha! We always want to eat here but have to stop ourselves, you must try new things they say. If I could eat here every day I would. Great service, a little slow when busy but that’s obviously to be expected, and we don’t mind chilling in the nice atmosphere inside or out. We mostly eat sushi here, have had a couple bento boxes that are pretty good, but the sushi is our go to and its fantastic. I don’t understand why people think this is pricey, especially since you live near SF and everything is pricey, this is definitely not(and the portions are large). We have gotten the sashimi platter and many different kinds of rolls, all were very fresh with great flavor. The other night we ordered a couple rolls, and thought that the first one that came out was the large $ 15 roll — so we ate it all… and then an even bigger roll came out! Sheesh! Well worth the money for that haha. If you’re grumpy when you come here, have a little sake and plum wine, you’ll feel better ;) I’m a little sad to recommend this place, I want to keep it all to myself, but yes you should eat here.

My coworkers and I came here on a hot day in South City! This place isn’t bad as it is a Japanese and Thai hybrid restaurant. I’ve only tried the Japanese side so this review is solely based on that. I must say there’s a reason why people sit outside. The inside can get very humid and although they have a fan, it’s not the most helpful. We came here during lunch and it wasn’t too busy. I ordered the shashimi with rice and the shashimi was really fresh. My coworkers all ordered bento boxes but I’m not really a fan of bentos as of late. All of the meals came with miso soup and overall the food was pretty good. Our bill came out to $ 56 for four people. Kinda pricy… I might be back if I’m in the area, the service is way quicker than a couple of places on Grand.

Very friendly. Love the food! And portion sizes are great. Usually get small tiny pieces of sushi at other places but here you get your money’s worth.

Food was ok, but definitely overpriced for the amount of food portions. My bento came with 3 piece California roll and is not what I expected. This is the only Japanese restaurant in Brisbane area.

I really like the service. Is a very small place and is like a family indeed. I usually visit alone and find friendly people here. About food. I am a Sashimi lover and this is real fresh and tasty sashimi. Prices are God for what you get. Lunch specials are also good. I normally go for chicken teriyaki with 2 sake sashimi… Always leave me happy.

Japanese food here is mediocre at best, and not the most authentic. The only reason we go is because we live in Brisbane and it is the only Japanese food option here. It’s not great Japanese food but I’ve had worse. My kids like the udon, which you really can’t mess up. Beware of outdated menu prices — some of the items’ prices have gone up and I guess unless you are a regular, your bill will seem padded. They really should update their menus to reflect the current prices. Will I come back? Probably since it’s the only Japanese restaurant here. Would I come back if there were other options? Definitely not.

On cold days like today I like to slurp my way into Brisbane for the best beef udon in the SSF area… at Teriyaki House. BTW, if this rating was strictly for the beef udon I’d go 4.5 stars! A large heaping of noodles accompanied by no skimpy amount of beef and vegetables. Many places skip vegetables in beef udon or add a few morsels of carrots — not enough to be considered even a baby’s serving of vegetables. Teriyaki House adds in spinach, bok choy, and a variety of other veggies. Actually, I think they go with what they have on hand because I have had different types of veggies during different visits. In any case, always a great accent to the soup. What they don’t have on hand, to my disappointment, is chili pepper flakes to add some spice to the udon. Boooo! I have to remove some stars because I think Sushi is just 3 stars… and the sushi weighs more heavily than udon at a Japanese restaurant! I like the Hawaiian and Tropical rolls that have real slices of mango and pineapple, but sometimes the rolls are a little small and/or messy.

I frequent this place every couple of weeks with the boyfriend, and I’m a fan. You should note that this restaurant is connected to the Thai place next door, so they give you menus for both restaurants. The prices aren’t too bad for either menu. The food is good for the price, and they give you a lot. Also, the staff is very friendly. I recommend the seaweed salad, cherry blossom roll, rock n roll, and Godzilla roll.(FYI, I did not eat all of this in one sitting.)

After taking my 2 year old to Brisbane Library we decided to check out the little shopping area nearby that had a handful of restaurants and stores. Because of the limited restaurants and thinking about what my daughter would eat, we ended up at teriyaki house. Seemed like a family business. A few people came in to pick up food which clearly seemed like family friends. Service was ok. I had to ask for a lot of things like napkins, an extra plate and to get my water refilled about 3x. They weren’t busy, we were 1 of 3 customers in the restaurant and about 7 – 8 on staff, so I felt my water should’ve been refilled without having to ask. Food was ok. I think the highlight was when I asked for a high chair. I saw the server grab one(looked like the only one) which had a bucket of mop or towel water sitting on it. He brought it to me and didn’t wipe it down so I asked him to wipe it. Even after wiping it it still looked filthy! My daughter ended up sitting on my lap the whole time. Two stars for one of the owners being nice and for the food(teriyaki chicken combo) for being decent.

They’re alright. I used to frequent this place until I started noticing that their prices fluctuated based on who was ringing you up. Tsk, tsk. Most of the time I didn’t notice since the service and food were OK but one day I got some loose rolls *GASP!* rice was falling out of the rolls and then I got annoyed and realized I liked this place less. I still went back but not as often but when I did, I realized they were charging incorrect pricing. I had lunch with some colleagues a few months after, not my choice, and they raised their prices by about $ 2 more for rolls. I think the biggest influence in coming here so often the past is because there are no other options for a Japanese Restaurant in Brisbane. Drive 5 minutes either north or south, it’s worth it.
