This is a incredibility interesting and tasty place but you have to understand that it is very small venue. You must call for reservations, if you show up without one or if you’re a walking you could be shutout especially on Friday or Saturday night. The place is run by a husband and wife team who are Japanese and very authentic(rare now as everything is Asian Fusion or not truly Japanese). The sushi is spot on as well as the soba which for me was the perfect combination on cold night. The menu is actually on printed paper so I am not sure if the menu changes on a regular basis. All items, specially the pastries are made made onsite with the wife making the pastries and the husband making the sushi and hot food. As far as service goes the wife who servers as well could not be more friendly or attentive. Play this place right and you’ll enjoy something special. If you don’t get a reservation you won’t be very happy. FYI. If you have a specific order of pastries for take out call ahead and they will be packed and waiting for you. If you don’t you may get shutout. Remember this place makes fresh items daily so planning on your part is key to making this a unique experience.

This restaurant is one of my favorite restaurants of all time. To start, the macaroons are to DIE for — they are unlike any other macaroon I have EVER had. Every single macaroon I have somewhere else, I always think, «hmm… not as good as Jiki!» Aside from the sweets and ALL the sweets, the sushi is fresh and so is the chicken and other food items. The owner is so sweet and I always look forward to seeing her!

Stopped in on a Saturday just before 6 pm after reading from other Unilocalers that seating was limited. We managed to grab one of the three tables, but a couple that was 5 mins behind us was limited to take out. The sushi was fantastic and great value! Toro, eel, salmon roe, and scallop in a $ 22 sushi meal… hard to beat that! Fish was very fresh and well prepared, and the owner was simply wonderful. We couldn’t resist grabbing a few of her homemade macaroons to take home. Highly recommended, best sushi we can recall in Westchester!

Some of the best deserts ever! They could double the prices and no one could or would complain. Closed for most of July for vacation. Get there soon. Try the wasabi topped cake, so unique.

The sushi and the sweets are fabulous. Very simple, quite and calm spot to have a nice conversation. Min, the owner is a pastry artist and gives thoughtful service. They are closed Sunday and Monday and have take-out only between 2−5pm.

The two stars are for the service. The food is four stars. Me and my significant other went here on a Friday after reading the great reviews on Unilocal.Called ahead and made a reservation for two. Arrived and we were seated immediately. This place is small. The menu is small, the staff is small(two people on our night) and the portions are small. We ordered soup and tried to order 4 different types of rolls but the waitress seemed to be discouraging that so we ordered 3 types. They were delicious. Since the portions are quite small, when we were finished, we asked if we could order some to go and we we’re told no. Again, place is small, the staff seemed overwhelmed by us, another couple and perhaps an outgoing order. I’ve never been to a restaurant that said«no» when you try to order additional food. I probably won’t be back since they don’t cater to people that eat more then they are used to.

The amount of effort and detail that the chef puts into his sushi is commendable. This is a husband and wife restaurant. The husband does the sushi and the wife makes pastries that are high quality and out of this world. If I could rate 10 stars I would. Enjoy their work!

Don’t be quick to judge this small place by its strip mall location. Having lived in Japan and sampled authentic Japanese cuisine of all kinds, this is the real deal. The sushi is first rate and rivals the best in NYC. The other surprise is that the wife in this two person team is an accomplished pastry chef whose macarons, cream puffs, cakes and french style pastries are amazing. Call ahead as there are only a few tables and a small sushi counter. Once you eat here, I guarantee that you will be looking for excuses to return. What a gem!

I’ve been coming here with my folks and various friends for the last few years and I’m never disappointed. Minyoong is so sweet to my mom. It was raining one time and she ran out with an umbrella for my ma! She even remembered our usual order even after not having been here close to nine months. Food is great. Service is great. Seating is limited but I never had a problem getting a table. Five stars, five thumbs!

Only one customer in the place at noon and the waitress said I needed a reservation. Refused to seat me without one.

Best sushi in the area, always a good assortment of fresh fish, and the fish to rice ratio is perfect. Amazing pastries, confections and macarons made by the owner on premises. And the service is always charming and welcoming.

Whenever I need a pastry for an occasion Jiki is my go-to place. The cakes are fresh, delicious and nicely packaged to take out. But I think what is best is how charming the owners are, they truly appreciate your business. I’ve only bought the pastry items here, but if that is any indication of quality then I’m sure the sushi is great. It’s a simple unassuming little place but you will leave with a smile.

If you want authentic Japanese food this is the place to go. Everything I had there was fresh and well made. Pastries at the bakery section were also delicious!

Very very special. I sit at Jiki and watch people walk past, interested, but because it is a sushi place in a strip mall, they wonder, as I did the first time I went there. They walk into the Chinese restaurant next door to pick up their takeout, passing up the treat they would have had if they took a chance here. A meal at Jiki is an incredibly special experience, as if you were invited to dinner at the home of the couple who owns it. Minyung(spelling?) works the tables, and makes all the crazy wonderful French pastries(more about that later) and her husband does the sushi. They care. The sushi is very good, very real, very good quality but simple. Perfect for a place where you can go often. There is a wonderful chef’s special soup — the broth is rich and if you ask about it you’ll hear about the whole day it takes to make, which helps to explain how good it is. Sometimes, after you’ve finished your meal, Minyung will bring a little special sweet treat on a tiny dish, «I made these for you,» she says. And you feel like she made them just for you and no one else. And then, if you order dessert, a very very special treat is in your grasp. The maron pie is my favorite(chestnuts in custard in the flakiest cup of delectability) but there are many other(and all very delicious) French treats to choose from. Minyung trained in Tokyo with a French pastry chef who had married a Japanese woman, then she worked in NYC, and now briarcliff. Crazy to have them here but who’s complaining? You can see that we love this place. Only three tables. They close their kitchen at 8 pm so go on the early side — you won’t be disappointed.

Completely rude and obnoxious to happy customers… not at all hospitable. Threw the menu in my face and whispered something to his wife in disdain I’m disappointed

I get French desserts there! Fabulous and priced so reasonably! You would never think to go into this«hole in the wall» Sushi restaurant for elegant French pastries. But, oh my goodness… don’t miss them. Awesome is not enough of a description!

What a great find! The 10 roll maki platter is a regular takeout mainstay in my house. Very nice quality and delicious. Any sushi snob will tell you: it’s all about the rice. Jiki has it down pat. The desserts are an incredible bonus. My spouse is French and my mother in law thinks the Macaroons from Jiki are better than the ones she gets in France.

These are some of the best macaroons around, by far the best I’ve ever had. Took friend there for his bday so bought nearly one of each, haha! Literally, awesome. Food was standard high– quality Japanese fare, delicious. Will be going back!

I went there three times a week to have Sushi Jiki and Ebi Tempura Roll last summer. It is happy to think about the taste and hard to wait until my summer trip to New York this year. Mackerel, Toro sushi… I miss a lot ~
