Had an excellent experience here. Came with the girl for Japansese… Seaweed salad Miso soup Edamame Sashimi @ 15 pieces++ eel hand roll + dessert, beer, tea etc The outdoor seating was awesome, pictures don’t do accurate justice. A great place to enjoy great food and our server was friendly, informative and professional. Wherever there was a slight inadequacy something grander was around the corner that made up for it. I will definitely be back screw the pretentious Unilocal haters– Hida FTW!

Gorgeous, gorgeous setting. Beautiful koi pond and garden, great service, excellent deep-fried angel hair pasta appetizer, very reasonably priced lunch specials with great miso soup/salad. We didn’t get to try the actual hibachi, but heard that it gets really crowded on weekends– and understandably so! This was quite a gem to discover and I definitely recommend this restaurant.

Best sushi I’ve had outside of NYC. My fave place to get General Tso(shrimp, chicken or beef)! Actually, I have yet to be disappointed with the food here! Haven’t tried the hibachi yet, but the loudness and the cheers coming from the hibachi room indicate that the hibachi chefs are pretty great and entertaining! I’ve learned I should always make a reservation if I want hibachi, especially on a weekend night! Great place for a romantic date because they have a beautiful garden with a koi fish pond. And if you ask your server they’ll give you fish food to feed the koi fish! Cocktails are delicious and NOT weak! They have a blueberry honey ale draft that is awesome as well! I’d go there just to have a pint of that outside in the garden by the fish pond. Okay… I lied… I’d need some of the delicious food as well!

We came here on a class trip and it was the worst experience. The food wasn’t even good. The teachers were waiting tables. We had this trip planned in advance so they knew we were coming and it took them forever to serve us water. The management as non existent. Parents never got their food. I will not be coming here again.

I need to update my review. It sounds like this place changed ownership a few months ago TLDR: I will never come back and this place should probably undergo a health inspection. My group(of 4) went for lunch. We let the servers know that we only had ~45 minutes and that we’d order more simple things from the menu to expedite the service. We were told it wouldn’t be a problem. We were the second out of 4– 5 groups there and there were 3 people serving. It took 20 minutes to get our drinks, and then our meals came out individually spaced about 10 – 15 minutes apart. Our salads came after our meals. Two of the orders were wrong(we sent one back) but it was fun that each member in our group got to eat individually while the others watched. It got so bad that while we were waiting for the last two dishes we asked for the check. The third dish came and we asked to get a box for the last because we were so late for work. 5 minutes later they bring the dish on a plate and not in a box. I got a tuna roll, salmon roll, and yellowtail roll. The rolls were so sloppily put together it looked worse than when I do it myself. The rice was slapped on the nori in thick globs and the roll was falling apart. There was barely any yellowtail in the roll and it was mostly just rice. Overall the meal took over 1.5 hours. The best part is is that I got food poisoning from this meal and was sick all night. This place is in such disarray that I question their handling of their sushi fish properly.

The best sushi outside of NYC I ever had. Hands down. Highly recommend.

The garden and koi pond is beautiful. Watching the tall bamboo blowing in the wind was mesmerizing. But the food was unremarkable and even a bit unsettling. The front room is like the Chuck-E-Cheese of Japanese restaurants. The back room is has the grand view. I would return for a drink and the ambience, but I’d never return for a meal.

Great hibachi spot in a cool building. Stopped in for lunch. Had the chicken and shrimp hibachi lunch. Standard hibachi chef theatrics ensued. Great aim squirting the sake! Reasonably priced too.

My boyfriend and I have been coming here pretty much since they opened up and I must say, we are never disappointed. The sushi is always fresh and the service is amazing. We are regulars and we get treated wonderfully upon every visit. Highly recommended!

2.5 stars, but I’m upgrading it for the beautiful ambiance. At this point in my life, I’m not really interested in restaurants that have a million things on their menu — there’s no way that they do every single thing well. Hida offers hibachi, sushi, other Japanese food, Thai food and Chinese food. I came here with my roommates after our first exam because it’s the closest restaurant to campus, and since we opted for non-hibachi, we sat in a separate section of the restaurant. Maybe it was just the food that we ordered, but everything was very mediocre. I don’t remember how much my maki combo was — not too expensive, but not cheap either — and I sadly compared it to the amazingly fresh, super tasty maki combo that I was addicted to at Haiku(a sushi place in Bronxville that I ordered from for lunch several times a week). The fish was bland — nothing bad, but just uninteresting. My roommates(who aren’t Asian) ordered two very Americanized Chinese entrées(fried tofu puffs and shrimp with walnuts) and a Thai curry stir-fry. I guess I was just surprised to see this food(and quality) at such a high-end looking, beautiful place. As another Unilocaler said, it almost looks palatial. The pond and outside dining area was absolutely lovely — it’s large enough for a leisurely evening stroll and a photoshoot, even. I’ve never seen anything like it in a casual restaurant. I might be willing to check it out again for the hibachi, but I’m definitely not interested in ordering off the normal menu.

I’m giving a second star because the staff was very nice. The food was nothing special. I had sea bass and filet Mignon, both of which were cold inside, but hey, they went right on the hibachi in front of me. My wife’s scallops were very tough, but the kid’s salmon was pretty good. What really ticked me off was the bill. For the 4 of us, it was a 200 dollar dinner with the tip. Then I see that they charged us $ 3.00 per person for Fried Rice as apposed to the white rice. REALLY? A little EGG and Soy Sauce is a $ 3.00 charge EACH? There are better hibachi places in the area and HIDA will not be getting anymore of my money in the future. So as we go out to other places, they should know that there $ 3.00 charge is what pissed me off.

I was just visiting the area and came across this restaurant. I’m so glad I did. The food was incredible, ambiance absolutely amazing, and hospitality was quite welcoming.

What I love about Hida is that it’s so freaking secluded. It’s nestled in a small hilltop and surrounded by greenery– I love it. If you drive– let’s say 45, you’re definitely going to miss it. I noticed while driving up, how appealing Hida looks at night. The beams, the grooves of the exterior and their landscape. Other reviews mention how gorgeous it looks in the warmer months, where Hida has a pond with Koi fish.(This I would highly love to see). Hida is gorgeous and freaking palatial. Front part of the restaurant is reserved for hibachi dining. No offense, but I intentionally wanted to skip the hibachi-styled dining and sit in another wing of the restaurant, just because, honestly, my daughter is 21, and she nor I didn’t need the show and dance of a cook flipping vegetables and slicing and dicing chicken in 50 bite sized morsels– that’s just me! Service was on point, I wish I can say the same about dinner. Selections were great, flavors were awesome… but damnnnn food was extremely salty and got me on the jugular. I needed to down my dinner with tons of water. Besides that enormous wrinkle of eating overly salty dinner, our server, I must say, was great.

We go here all the time. Sushi is always fresh. The rainbow roll is one of our favorites. I have been to the hibachi table in past and had a great meal. Restaurant has full bar with tv’s. Also very friendly staff. Happy 3 – 6 m-f. Give it a try won’t be disappointed.

Service was friendly, but our waiter didn’t know the menu and had to ask someone to come over and answer one of my questions. Food was only ok and my dish came out a good ten minutes before my dining partner’s. Hibachi was really a teriyaki as everything was drowned in sauce — not very good. The restaurant itself is beautiful however and has huge outside grounds with a koi pond.

The HH deals are the best in the area! Both for alcohol and food. The entire appetizer menu is 50% off between 3−6PM, as are the beers on tap. It doesn’t really get much better than that. The rock shrimp tempura and the Hida duck wrap come highly recommended by the servers. If you are looking for something a little heavier, I think the calamari and the cold sesame noodles are also good options. Other than that, I’ve also tried the chicken lettuce wrap, which is pretty much kung pao chicken served with a couple pieces of lettuce. Nice, but not all that special. If you are in the area, I’d highly recommend it for HH! Especially if the weather cooperates and you can take a stroll around the garden in the back!

The staff at Hida is always nice, yet they aren’t the fastest. The food is great and pricing is comparable to other Asian fusion restaurants. Typically, the restaurant is too never busy, which may me good for some yet bad for others. I’ve been here about 5 times and there have been a max of 4 – 5 tables in the whole restaurant(this includes the hibachi section, too). I return because their appetizers and seafood udon soup are both delicious!

Met a friend there for lunch the other day, the location of the restaurant could not be better. Didn’t seem to busy on a workday lunch hour, but the restaurant is huge and probably fills up on weekends. The staff presented us a very intense menu, ummm could I get one of each please??? We opted for the Rock Shrimp appetizer, shared a specialty roll, I believe it was called the Valentines roll, served on 2⁄14 as well as 7/8, I guess. For the meal I visited the General… a nice portion of chicken, with broccoli on the side. My friend ordered some Tofu with String Beans dish. Presentation looked great, I snuck myself a few string beans, but I am not a tofu fan, well ummm yeah… I hear Soy does wonders to guys. All kidding aside Hida was amazing, can’t wait to go back, Maybe next time Hibachi???

I come here for hot sake and sushi snacks occasionally. The food is pretty standard, nothing special, but not terrible. The prices are reasonable for what you are getting. The building and property is pretty cool, really random for this area. For whatever reason, even during calm hours, the service always takes forever. It feels like it’s always a hassle to get my check and leave, it’s usually a 45 minute gap between finishing my meal and walking out of the restaurant. The service is nice and friendly, just slow.
