Annoying photographers that are more interested in making a sale than your photos turning out right. Do not come here.

Heather and Summer went above and beyond in customer service and kindness. Our family was huge and those poor girls had to stay an hour and 20 minutes over to help us when they probably wanted to go home. They were incredible and they took some really nice pictures. I don’t understand the horrible reviews… They get so busy and these two women never once let on in frustration. They were calm collected and treated us like family the entire time. I really appreciate it. Thank you!

Awesome, friendly staff! So I researched here on Unilocal before my appointment and saw the reviews were mixed and I was a little apprehensive. I called before hand and was told the best time to come in would be the morning and during the week, which I am so happy I did. We were seen right away. Heather was our photographer and she was so kind and patient with the kids. She listened to my requests and looked at my pose and prop ideas and really listened and tried her best to accommodate me. I never felt rushed and we all had a great time with the pics. Even though my 2 year old was so over it, Heather was able to get a lot of great shots in. Then came time to go over photo options, which I hate because they always push for you to spend way more then you want, but Heather gave me all my options without making feel pressured. I will definantly be coming back to the Brea location!

I have been to four different JC Penny Portrait studios(Chino, Riverside, Santa Ana, and this one) for a total of over a dozen times. My daughter just turned two, and we took her to get her photos done almost every month. I’m shocked at how bad the reviews are on here. You don’t come to JC Penny for super professional photos. You come here because it’s CHEAP and it’s better than Wal Mart. I’ve had hit or miss experiences with other studios. I’ve only been to this location once, but I had good service. My photographer’s name was Eddie and she worked really well with my two year old, who can be a bit camera shy. Eddie had some great ideas about how to coordinate the backgrounds and props with my daughter’s dress, but she was also really flexible when my daughter didn’t cooperate and ended up incorporating props like a teddy bear to help keep her calm. The photos turned out great and, best of all, it was a great deal. I had a coupon that gave me $ 25 off plus $ 3.99 photo sheets that I got in my email, so I ended up only spending $ 7. Are they the BEST photos in the world? No. But for $ 7 I have some memorable photos that are much better than I could have done myself. In fact, I ended up liking them so much that I bought the full album CD, something I wouldn’t normally do because it’s so expensive, but my mother paid half because she thought the photos were too adorable to pass up. One small snag was that some of the sheets got damaged in shipping, but they reordered them for me no problem and I was able to pick them up a week later. This has happened before with another studio too, and it sucks, but I’ve always gotten it taken care of. Overall, if you want the best ever professional photos, go hire a $ 300 professional photographer. But if you’re on a budget like me and just want some nice looking pictures, this place is great.

Can we give negative stars. No sense of scheduling or professionalism. Will never come back or recommend. Avoid at all costs unless you want to spend hours in the hood surrounded by unruly kids.

As the other review mentioned, if there’s an award for the world’s worst manager, it goes to Rachel. How anyone would employ her is beyond me. I would not step in any JCP just because of this one person who does not know what customer service meant. If you do not want people to use the promotions, well, don’t send us any. We did not make them up, JCP sent it to my home. Went for a Saturday photo session — CAUTION — they do not allow costume change during weekends. Then forgive me for not wanting to spend $ 200 worth of pictures of my son in his one karate uniform. The photos did not come out good. Realized that it was a mistake to have your son smile with a karate uniform kicking and punching! Amanda, our photographer was the worst. Never seen such a money minded person. She spent about 5 minutes showing our pictures. Did not allow an extra minute to choose between the pictures. Tried to sell a $ 250 package. I said No. Then tried to sell a $ 150 package. I said No. She kept trying but all I liked was a couple of pictures. I finally picked a package in my budget and sat down. Then realized that I had picked the same picture for the holiday card too. Went and told her right away but she said she CHECKEDOUT already and did not let me change. I should have walked away but did not. Amanda, Rachel, you are the worst 2 people I have even seen and you do not give people a positive experience; you are driving people away not just from JCP portraits but also from shopping there. A saving grace at this store is a wonderful girl, Jessica. She saved my entire experience by switching out my holiday pictures, which took like less than 2 minutes of her time. IF she sold me the $ 200 worth of photos, I would buy from her, because she CARED about my portrait experience. JCP, this girl should be the manager and not Rachel, who in my opinion is white trash pretending to be pretty in a scarf. She deserves to work at Walmart and not here. When I asked Rachel a question, she said she clocked out and she’s not there anymore. Well, this is the manager of the store. I would not have stepped foot in another JCP, if not for Jessica. Do yourselves a favor, and if you have a session with Amanda, switch for someone more courteous.

I went into the portrait studio today, the lady who took the pictures was awesome so nice, all our pictures turn out awesome. To bad the manager Rachel, and one of her computer people who go over the pictures were extremely rude. I had gotten a groupon for a 16×20 canvas. My sister got the same and was able to put 3 different pictures on it. The girl who was showing me the pictures told me no they cannot do that and the groupon said only 1 picture. I looked at the groupon and no where on it did it say only 1 picture. I asked to talk to the manager. She went to get her, then came back saying she was busy. I looked over and the manager was sitting on a chair doing nothing. So I continued to tell her that my sister had the same groupon, and was able to get 3 pictures on it. so I wanted 3 pictures on it. Then the picture person started getting rude with me, tutting cause apparently I was taking to long to pick 1 picture out of all the pictures we took. Then when I asked to see the manager again she said she’s not coming to talk to you she already told me to tell you what she said! So I gave up and picked a picture. I then asked for her managers name and she said it rudely then when I asked her to write it on my reciept she gave me the dirtiest look. Then when I asked if the corporate number was on the website she said I dont know go look, then when I asked what date and time I needed to pick up my canvas she said it’s on the paper while rolling her eyes. She was extremely rude and the manager was rude for not seeing me. I am going to call corporate and get something done about this. That was totally uncalled for and if you can’t stand working with parents and kids then you need to find a different career.

I went to JCP to have Christmas pictures taken. This was my first experience with a portrait studio, The pictures went well and when it came time to select the pictures we wanted they didn’t explain their system at all. When we made up our minds the sales rep then came in and selected a bunch of borders and edited the pictures and put them on cards one of which was a baby shower card and didn’t ask our requests or opinions at all. I asked how much the CD would cost and she said 149, I was thinking its only a CD so $ 1.49? but they put the order in and it was $ 149.00. again being my first experience I freaked out inside for a second, cancelled that, and just ordered a few prints. They said we could view our order and pictures online and when we did there was all the card and bordered picture they selected. If they would have explained the process at all I would have actually took the time to design some so perhaps my family could have went and ordered additional things. When it came time to pick up my pictures I called to see what times we could go in to which I was answered«its on your receipt». I understand it is the holidays and it’s busy time everywhere but there is no need for rudeness and cutting corners. I actually told some other family members to book a sitting there but after my experience I advised them to go elsewhere.
