I found Babes to be run poorly and the pizza to be sloppy and messy. Speaking of sloppy and messy, I watched as one of the workers stirrred a big cauldron of pizza sauce with a bare arm. I was wondering if there is an extra charge for hair topping along with the garlic? Gross! The place appears very dirty and I would not return even though I was once a fan of the double decker.

We are new to the Brandon area and wanted pizza so we checked out Babes. I’m so glad we did! Now we don’t have to keep searching for our go to pizza place. This pizza is great. We got an all meats double decker and it was delicious! They were busy but the owner kept checking on us to see how we liked it and was so friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend it :)

We hadn’t been here in while, but as I remembered the pizza was not bad, not bad at all. Except for the fact that they don’t offer ham on the menu, so if you’re looking for ham on the pizza, it’s not going to happen at this place. The other thing I didn’t remember was they don’t offer free refills on soft drinks, it’s either a cup, or a pitcher.

For my 300th review, I can’t think of a better restaurant to write about than Babe’s Pizza. Contrary to the outside appearance, this place is busy and delicious! We decided to go here Friday night. We had a little trouble parking, the lot is small with limited spots. I was able to finagle into a parking spot, and we made out way to the back door, which felt like we were entering the kitchen, but was assured from someone leaving that we could enter there. Anticipating being pranked, I cautiously opened the door, only to find out we were entering a waiting area. We put our names on the list, and studied the very limited menu while taking-in the vintage model train décor. Within five minutes, our table was ready. We were quickly greeted by our server, and placed or drink order. They offer soda by the pitcher, which is good and bad. Good, because there’s no wait on refills, but bad because the soda is getting warm and flat as it sits. «I love flat coke», said nobody ever. We started with a salad. It was huge, but consisted mainly of lettuce with only a small amount of cucumber & tomato. The house-made ranch dressing was fabulous! We also ordered cheese bread with sauce. Very delicious! Now, on to the good part(what they are famous for), the Double Decker! This pizza was nothing short of amazing! It’s the kind of pizza that may burn your mouth because it’s so hot, but you endure the pain because it’s so good. There’s a reason this place has been in business for so long; they consistently make quality, delicious pizza. Points for creativity, taste, and quality ingredients. I do wish there were a few different options on the menu(calzone, stramboli, apatizers), but the only thing keeping this place from a five star rating is the building, mainly the carpet. The carpet needs to be ripped up ASAP! Whatever’s underneath couldn’t possibly be worse. Original carpeting is not cool like original hardwood floors. The train chugging along up high is cool, though. If I were to have just drove by without checking Unilocal,I would not have stopped. Overall, this place is pretty awesome! 100% on their last health inspection!

It’s one of the old gems in the Brandon area serving pizza for years. This place has been around since I was in elementary school. And it shows. Could use a little updating. But none the less the establishment low key casual pizzeria that is known for the double decker. If it’s your first time. Get the babes special double decker. It’s literally two pizzas on top of each other. Although it seems like you’ve walked into an old smokers bar, the pizza is pretty good. Not come out of your way good but good. Their salads seem to be a little lack luster and didn’t notice anyone ordering the sandwiches. That should be a clue.

We’ve been to Babe’s many time over the years and recommend it. It’s a great place to take families or guests from out-of-town. We always get the double decker cheese and it is always good. The rest of the menu is an unknown to us, but it you like cheese pizza you will like this. The double decker does take a while to cook so be prepared to wait.

This favorite local pizza joint has a model train tracking around the ceiling of the restaurant and a bar to watch them make pizza, definitely a kid pleaser. The large Greek salad easily fed five, and the fresh ingredients made it better than average. We also ordered cheese bread, thick slices of mozzarella cheesy goodness. Go for the gusto with the double decker pizza, thin dough topped with mozzarella and your selected ingredients, and then loaded with a second layer of everything, basically two pizzas in one. We ordered one with pepperoni and banana peppers and the other with pepperoni and black olives. Both pies were great, just the right amount of sauce and cheese, and not too greasy like you sometimes get from thick pizzas. Definitely the type of pizza that you only can eat a couple of pieces before you are full. Dora here. Definitely carb overload, but oh-so-good! I would rate this restaurant 4 forks out of 5 forks for a family friendly restaurant serving great food. Ernie & Dora Hiers, Fiction Faith & Foodies Blog

We ventured to Babe’s to try something new. This pizza joint has apparently long been a Brandon favorite… so we wanted to check it out. Very nice homey feeling inside and the lady server was sweet. We ordered a 14″ pie with sausage, onion, ground beef, black olives and mushrooms. I had a small tossed salad with creamy Italian dressing. They are famous evidently for the double decker pizza which just looked like a heart attack waiting to happen. So, we steered clear though I am sure it is a culinary adventure all to itself. Well the salad arrived on a platter and in a bowl. I was asked by the server…“would you like me to flip it?” I said…“sure” not really knowing what she meant. She meant what she said and literally dumped the entire salad on the platter. The salad, for all intents and purposes was 2 lonely slices of tomato, 2 slices of cucumber, 2 olives, shredded feta and about a square mile of iceberg lettuce. I am not kidding folks. I have never seen this much lettuce on a platter in my life. Needless to say, iceberg lettuce has NO nutritional value so I ate the forced ripened tomatoes, the cucumber and olives a few bites of lettuce to «call» it a salad and set it aside. Somewhere in a field a poor rabbit is missing their crop of lettuce. I found it at Babe’s. I must say as well it was like eating from a feeding trough! The pizza arrived and looked pretty good. We had asked for thin crust. Now, though the crust is not exactly thin it is crispy like a cracker on the bottom. The meats were sparse and I could not tell you if sausage and ground beef was actually in the pie together or not. There was a presence of meat though, just not quite sure what. I could taste the onion… I think? I thought I saw a sliver or two. The sauce was tasty and the cheese plentiful. There was a handful of black olives and mushrooms were plentiful as well. A very unbalanced collection of toppings. Overall an «ok» pizza but nothing to rave about. We are not Brandonites so this was our first time trying Babe’s. Perhaps the locals are accustomed to the place because it is a staple of local culture, for a first timer it was… meh! Camelli’s and Oz Pizza back in Atlanta still rank supreme for us and locally Anthony’s is amazing. That said, making our own pizza at home is always an option. Would we come here again? probably not. The place is a novelty for locals and I understand that, but for a foodie– not so much! Overall price– 1 small salad, 14″ pie with 5 toppings– $ 21.40 before tip.

A Brandon staple! I’ve been toted to this pizzeria since I was mere toddler, so I have many fond… and perhaps biased memories. One thing I can commend them on is consistency. The place has not changed in nearly thirty years, in aesthetics nor flavor. And the Double Decker is THE pizza to order! I highly recommend this joint! …and toddlers to preschool-age kids get a kick out of the model locomotive that circles the dining area! A must try!
