Homemade pastas and wood oven pizza. My favorite is to sit at the bar by the oven and watch how eggs get cooked.

Really like the food here. Best to make a reservation. It’s worth the wait. Everything is fresh. LOVE the pizzas.

I find myself recommending this place to guests at the local hotel I work at a lot. I tell them they can expect fresh, local fare which is also fun and funky! Every time I have been as a small group or a table of two with my husband, I enjoy my food, the atmosphere, and drinks. Service has been okay and at times very slow for such a small restaurant. Went as a large group of about 15 where we made a reservation beforehand. It seemed as though they were not ready for us, all our food came out haphazard even though we specified that some guests preferred family style and sharing and others did not. I was the one who did not, so as plates and plates of food came out for the table, my small pizza was literally THELAST item placed on the table when all other guests were DONE eating. Please listen to your guests when ordering to prevent an awkward group eating experience!!!

Blackbird Kitchen is as good as it gets in Bozeman. And if it were in New York, Los Angeles, Houston, or any other great restaurant city in the U.S., it would rank at the very top, also. Creative cuisine, a thoughtful wine list, a staff that is passionate about food, an open kitchen with endless action, and an interesting clientele of all ages gives Blackbird Kitchen a happy energy. We’ve been back several times, and sampled broadly, and still been unable to find a single dish that wasn’t magnificent. Blackbird is in an older downtown Bozeman building, which adds to its charm. There is a bit of a downside: its ceiling is high with mechanical work exposed. This gives it a lively acoustic, notwithstanding the discreetly hung dampening panels. So, one must take the bitter with the sweet, and tolerate the extra decibels as part of the dynamic feeling. A tradeoff well worth making… Bravo, Blackbird Kitchen.

Ok this was worth a day wait! We had the beet salad enough for two. The flavor a of kale arugula cheese beets pumpkin seeds was fabulous. Then we split the Mostrada pizza, the Bomb. The flavor was great. The way everything blended together gave the great taste. Great choice. We made reservations yesterday for 6pm and it was empty when we got there. By 7pm it was packed. Then we got dessert Lemon tart and a dark Carmel custard with sea salt and heavy whip cream on top. Best ever had. What would have topped it off would have been their cup of individually brewed coffee. I had mint tea instead which was good.

We stopped in here after a long roadtrip from the Bay Area. Very friendly and wait was only 5 mins on a Friday night. Food was delicious. The chicken was the best I ever had… simple but very moist with perfect seasoning. The skin was just a crispy thin layer with hardly any fat left. I swear you could taste the Montana mountain water and air when you eat this chicken. It really tastes like free range heritage chicken! The gnoochi with lamb was also very good. Lamb was very tender and gnoochi pillowy goodness. Beer and bread(nice crust, great chewy soft insides) was excellent too.

Great food! I’ve eaten here 5 times in the past year. The pizzas are great, and when the food is on — it’s as good as anything in Bozeman. One thing I’ve noticed is that when we come at a later time(~8pm) the quality is a lot less consistent. But, my sample size is small(3 times early ~5pm, and 2 times later ~8pm). The desserts have always been awesome. If the budino is on the menu, I highly recommend it!

Great food and great service. Definitely gives off a California vibe. We had appetizer, main, pizza and dessert and nothing disappointed. No rush and took our time enjoying the evening. Make sure you have a reservation, it’s busy!

We were in Bozeman for a couple of nights and decided on Blackbird Kitchen for date night. Located in downtown Bozeman, it’s a perfect location for dinner and strolling around Main Street afterwards. We started with the Roasted Beet Salad which was prepared with sunflower seeds, crumbled feta, arugula and a maple sherry vinaigrette. Great balance of sweetness from the roasted beets and saltiness from the feta. For the entrée we split the Salsiccia Pizza — fennel sausage, caramelized sweet onions, chile pepper, and mozzarella. Great think crust pizza and woodfired. The sausage was tasty with just a hint of fennel and great blend of sweet and savory with the large slices of caramelized sweet onions and chile pepper. For dessert we had the panna cotta with berries. It was so good we wanted to order another one!

I guess my expectations were too high. After promising myself and the family for the last 4 years that we would try Blackbird on one of our annual trips to Bozeman, we finally did it. So here’s the good and the not-so-good: The good: Excellent gnocchi: This was the highlight of the meal for sure. Perfectly cooked and excellent flavors, I would order this again in a heartbeat. Great aesthetics: I love the look and feel of this small, intimate restaurant. It wasn’t too noisy, and it felt upscale and comfortable. Friendly, knowledgeable staff: This helps to compensate for the slowness of service(read on). The not-so-good: Warm water: It’s a warm summer evening in Bozeman, and we were served room temperature water from a carafe. I loved the carafe, but the water in it should have been cold. Sloooow service: We waited about 15 minutes before our order was taken, and each step(ordering, food delivery, water refills, etc.) was painfully slow. We were planning to order dessert(there was fresh blueberry pie on the counter!), but it took soooo long for them to come and clear our plates and ask if we’d like dessert, that we didn’t want to risk waiting an eternity for it. No bread: Why doesn’t a nice restaurant like this automatically offer bread before the meal? Instead, they sell it on their appetizer menu. So we opted for it, and it was delicious, but it came with olive oil and balsamic that was served as about 10 parts olive oil to only one part balsamic. We ended up pouring out most of the oil onto an empty plate in order to get to the balsamic. Roasted cauliflower and broccoli is not supposed to be carrots: We ordered the roasted cauliflower and broccoli appetizer, which the menu didn’t say contained carrots, but it came as mostly carrots. They were good, but the 3 of us had to share one floret of cauliflower and 2 florets of broccoli(and one of our party doesn’t like carrots, so they were out of luck). Floppy pizza crust: I watched two other tables eating pizza with extremely floppy crust, and then our party had the same issue. Even very thin crust should be firm, if not crispy. My adult son said it tasted good, so I’m glad the flavor wasn’t compromised. Tough meat: My spousal unit’s sirloin was tough, although the flavor was good. Will we come here again? Probably not. There are plenty of other better choices in Bozeman.

I’ve been here twice. First meal: 0; Second meal: 5. So, I’m going to give them a 3 until I eat here a few more times. Recently, I ate the spaghetti and meatballs. I must say, this was the BEST spaghetti and meatballs I’ve eaten. The pesto sauce was a nice addition to the traditional tomato sauce. Having both flavors really gave my tongue some excitement. My only complaint: not enough noodles. I had quite a bit of sauce leftover. Yes, I’m full. But for $ 18, I would have liked to take home some leftovers for tomorrow.

Blackbird is the best restaurant in Bozeman, and could definitely throw down with some of the best of LA and San Francisco. The menu is mainly comprised of organic and locally sourced ingredients. We enjoyed the roasted beet salad and roasted carrots so simply delicious. For entrée I had the lamb shank which was served with polenta and squash. Everything was full of flavor and masterfully prepared. And the desserts are off the chain apricot cobbler and Plum cake. Mind blowing. And of course the bread. Was torn about writing this review because it’s already become challenging getting a reservation here in the summer.

People will disagree with me, but I think Pizza Campania is a far better experience than Blackbird. I made a reservation for two at 7, showed up at 6:55, and was seated at 7:05. I’m not petty, so this wasn’t a problem. However, upon arrival, the hostess gave my date and I a nasty look, ignored us, and told us it would be a few minutes only after we approached her. We noticed a table set for two, and watched as two wealthy older people entered, were greeted with a smile, mentioned their 7pm reservation, and were promptly seated. Maybe it was an off night, or they were busy. Our waitress was awesome and friendly, and had some good recommendations. The pizza was good, and the flavors were good, but it was kind of soupy and soggy in the middle. For expensive pizza and amazing service, however, Pizza Campania is where it’s at!

Delicious, fresh and local ingredients prepared right in their open kitchen. The atmosphere was relaxed and calm, with welcoming staff and attentive servers. I wish our server had been wearing a name tag, she was excellent and we really enjoyed her. Our meal was awesome, we shared a Margarita pizza and a asparagus pasta. I loved the Malbec our waitress suggested I try, so much so that we went and bought a bottle at the wine store afterwards. The quality of the food was impressive, as was our server. We were checked on frequently and offered refills, and she made sure we liked our meals and had everything we needed. Highly recommend making reservations as most everyone had one to get a table, otherwise the bar was the only option. A great place for date night!

OK Bozeman, it’s official, Blackbird Kitchen is the best restaurant in town. Blackbird has everything going for it, the flavors are out of this world, the service is top notch, the space is cozy and intimate and the ingredients are absolutely fresh and unique. The menu always has a few new items or a small change depending on what’s fresh that day, but the consistency continues to shine no matter what they do. Make sure if you go you make sure to enjoy an appetizer, entrée AND dessert! It’s always something new and made right in house. This is Bozeman’s best dining, hands down.

We were on our way to the airport after visiting Yellowstone and found this place. One of the best pizza I’ve been had in my entire life. So amazing. Staff was very friendly and helpful as well. This would be our favorite spot if we would live in this place.

Love their thin crust and unique ingredients. Wine is a little pricey. It would be nice if they had some good $ 30 bottles. Atmosphere is great… romantic and very European. However, waiting area is ridiculously small. Basically, plan on awkwardly huddling near the door while staring at other people eating until your table is ready… but it’s worth going for sure!
