Great food and a fun Boulder ambiance with very friendly staff. This place seems always to have a line but the unlimited samples of beer while you wait make it bearable. They offer $ 38oz beers so you can have many different kinds for the price you’d normally pay for one. The blackberry wheat beer is a winner!

My best friend and I stopped in on a whim and the second we entered, we were greeted with a smile. We encountered multiple staff members during our trip, all of which were so personable, engaging, and helpful. I’ve never been in a restaurant where the staff are all happy and cooperative. Having worked in retail management, this is a true testament to the atmosphere and values of the management team. From start to finish, every item we ordered went far and beyond our expectations. The nachos are massive, my Junk Burger was genuinely the best burger I’ve ever had, and my friend said her quesadilla was delicious. We will most definitely be returning and recommending your establishment. Thank you so much for the flawless service and incredible food. Cannot wait to return!!!

The best Tripel I’ve ever tasted combined with a cool location, great atmosphere and good food. To top it off the prices were were affordable. Only drawback is they didn’t warn me it was cash only. However they quickly offered me a «karma envelope» to send back payment trusting that I would do the right thing. Very cool gesture. Swiss and mushroom burger was good but the fries were excellent. I will definitely try to come back next time I’m in Boulder.

I’ve eaten at almost every popular restaurant in Boulder and Mountain Sun Pub & Brewery is by far my favorite one. First off, they ONLYACCEPTCASH. Because of this, they can keep their prices low on their menu. Second, their service is incredible. The waitstaff works as a team and all splits tips so everyone if friendly and helpful whether they are your waiter or not. The food: Oh man where do I start. They are known for their burgers and sandwiches but I still haven’t had anything I didn’t like. My favorite entrees on their menu are the bison burger, the chorizo burger, the boom boom sandwich, and the eggplant marinara sliders(normally a special). The beer: Happy hour is from 3−6pm Monday through Friday where you can get $ 3 pints of their locally brewed beer. My personal favorites are the Rye IPA and the Honey double IPA(you can probably tell I like IPA’s). Whether you are just visiting Boulder or are a Colorado native, you will love this place. See you there!

Ahhh! Beers… Check. So delicious. Waitstaff… Check. So friendly/helpful. Food… yes! We got nachos and a buffalo chicken sandwich. Both were amazing and perfect companions for beer. Thanks mountain sun, we’ll see ya again.

Mountain sun pub has one of my favorite burgers I ever tasted. It was the chorizo burger. The staff is always so friendly. The burgers also come with beer recommendations for the burgers. Great beer selection. Great atmosphere. Cash only. I try to stop there every time I visit Boulder. If you’re visiting, stop by. If you’re not visiting, stop by.

The first place I went when I moved to Boulder, and probably the last place I’ll go before I leave. To say that I love this place is an understatement. Reading through these other reviews, you might notice that people are quite fond of the Mountain Sun. Truly, it is for all of the right reasons. The Sun is not only an awesome restaurant in the heart of downtown Boulder, but it is an establishment to the local scene here, and a shiny pearlescent piece of the art world. Stop by anytime and you’ll likely be put on a short waiting list(in which you are more than welcome to head towards the back of the room and grab a beer while you wait). Shoutout to the FYIPA and Annapurna Amber Ale(it seems all of us have a favorite here), and rejoice in the fact that if you go every week or so, you’ll be encountering new beers every time. The staff is paid communally, and they work full time — so the friendly and cool staff here not only knows every item on the menu, every beer on tap, and the price of every thing you can buy here, but every member is trained to do every job in the store. What this means is that the server you had yesterday could very well be a cook today. By being paid communally, they all combine tips — and end up working every table. If you spend enough time here you’ll likely have at least a few waiters helping you out. The Mountain Sun is also a harbor for musicians and an homage to the musical culture here in Boulder and beyond. On Sundays, there is a weekly show after hours, that has featured some fantastic musicians, such as The String Cheese Incident in their integral years, Tyler Grant and Grant Farm, and Emancipator(just to name a very few). As for the food, I can only give suggestions, as I have found not one thing on this menu that I didn’t like. Perhaps the most generous offering of nachos in town, 4 people could easily split this monster of a dish for around $ 12. Every burger on the menu is delicious, notably the chorizo burger that’s been on special for a while now. If you’re on a budget, you would do well to grab yourself a grilled cheese, for around $ 5. Lastly, the speakeasy steak sandwich is a personal favorite, reserved for those special treat yoself kinds of days. Overall, you cannot miss this place. If you come to Boulder, and you like good food, beer, and atmosphere, you must go here.

Super impressed! My family and I stopped by after a morning of hiking the Flatirons and in need of serious food and cold beer. The food was a great price, really fresh and HUGELY portioned. I got the chicken burrito and loved it. Husband got the portobello slider special and it was also great. The beer, especially the Java Stout I ordered, was perfect. When I return to Boulder, this will be a must stop!

Beer and a good company is all you need! Visited from California, and our place took us here. Beer is good, food is amazing. You can ask for beer samples, which was pretty cool — i’ve never seen that in California. I also liked their décor. Would definitely come back for their Boom Boom sandwich. A+!

Go to mountain sun right now. Stop reading reviews. It is the best brewery and pub in Boulder and maybe the world. Their«number one» beer made me so happy I nearly cried from the exceptionality of the brew. I could have died drinking it and would have died happy. No regrets. You will be greeted by the kindest, most charismatic, and personable waiter you have ever met. They Have the most delicious beer you have ever tasted. Which one you might ask, choose anyone from their menu, they are all perfect. Still haven’t decided? No problem they offer free samples! As many as your palette requires. With this kind of praise you may expect steep prices. You would be surprised, as we were, to find unprecedentedly low prices that allowed us to provide the high percentage tip that the staff deserved. Beers that would usually be 7 – 8 bucks where we are from were 5⁄6 and meals that usually run you $ 10-$ 12 were $ 8-$ 10. The price range really allowed us to enjoy what this establishment had to offer, which was pure bliss. I wish mountain sun was in every city in the world. I will miss this place and their incredible beers.

First time in Boulder and wanted something tasty and local. This place nails both, and mad props for the service. The hostess, the amazingly friendly and welcoming CiCi set the tone by getting me set up with texting to let me know when the table was ready and suggestions for cool places nearby to check out while I waited. Food: Bison burger – very good. Patty seemed pre-formed and not hand made but it was tasty nonetheless. Fries – absolute clones of Five Guys. Beer – very good in-house brews at ridiculously good prices – $ 2 and something for a beer in this pricey town? Try it out.

I brought my wife and son up to Boulder to the Pearl Street Mall and searched for the highest rated restaurants in the town. Luckily for us the second one of the list was on Pearl St!!! We got there and the place was packed but we were #1 on the list. We waited for about 10 minutes until they got us a seat. We started out with their plate of nachos and it was phenomenal. A huge plate with black beans, salsa, chicken, diced jalapeños, some amazing cheese, chips, and topped with sour cream. My wife said they were the best nachos she had ever had. I consider myself a nacho connoisseur so I won’t go that far, but dang they were good. Oh and did I say the order was huge… because it is. For our main dishes I got the bison burger and that was very, very good. My wife got the OE Burger and I could tell she was in heaven. She won’t admit it but I think she likes it better than Cherry Cricket and that’s her favorite burger. I tried it and it was almost as good if not better than my bison… she wins again. Each meal came with French fries and they taste and look a lot like Five Guys’ fries and that’s not a bad comparison. Also, she got a side of guacamole and it was awesome as well. That’s saying something because I’m normally not a fan of guac. Finally, we tried a few of the beers and they weren’t bad but not the best micro brews I’ve had. A little let down considering how amazing everything else was. So, as you can tell we throughly enjoyed our experience. The service was just as good as the food and finally I want to share this last story: While we were waiting one of the waiters asked us if we wanted anything to drink and my wife ordered a margarita. When he brought it back we went to pay and he said it the first drink is on the house. After I paid I asked him if that was normal and he said no, he always takes care of the military. That goes against everything I have heard about Boulder being anti military, which was a relief. Safe to say we are huge fans of this place!

Had a great experience here! Came to eat here after falling in love with Vine Street Pub down in Denver(its little sister restaurant) and before a concert at the Boulder Theater(just a few blocks away off of the gorgeous Pearl St. Mall) on a Tuesday around 6pm. There was a 20 minute wait which would normally turn me away from a place, but I came to find out they do FREEBEERSAMPLES while waiting for a table! We went to the«waiting area» by the bar and tried a wide variety of their delicious beer. The bartender was even cool enough to provide some of his personal favorite beer 50⁄50 mixes. If free beer isn’t enough, they also served us fresh made fries. SCORE. We were seated faster than the quoted 20 minutes and promptly greeted by our server. Love the nachos, they’re some of my favorite I’ve had since moving to Colorado. Don’t forget that they only accept cash! There’s an ATM in the restaurant with a low withdrawal fee if you forget! This is my go-to when I’m in Boulder for a concert or a night on the town and I cannot wait to go again!

One of our favorite spots in Boulder. It’s always packed every night. But if you’re looking for some solid food, beer and vibes this is your place. It’s not the most kid friendly and it gets pretty loud in there at dinner time. They also don’t take cards, but there’s an ATM in the back.

Not much to say except everything here is delicious. Downside is they only take cash and it’s always packed. There are several locations, check it out and you won’t be disappointed.

They DONOTTAKECREDIT if this is the only thing you read on my review that is the thing to read! They have an ATM that only charges one dollar on their end, but bring cash to make it easier on everyone! They can mail you your bill, which is a nice touch. Stopped in on my way back from Rocky Mountain National Park to Denver on a Sunday evening, and it was packed. There was a wait for a table, but we just stood at the bar in the back. I never carry cash but even with that issue I still thoroughly enjoyed myself. The atmosphere was great. The service was off the charts even with it being really busy. I wouldn’t say craft beer is my favorite but their raspberry beer was very enjoyable. They also offer 8 ounce pours which is perfect for me while drinking craft beer, and gave me free samples before I stuck with the raspberry. Then while we were standing at the bar they also gave us free french fries. I mean how can one pass up free fries? Their brewery is cute that you can look at through windows by the bathrooms. Definitely enjoyed being able to see«Behind the scenes» If I am ever back in town I will definitely stop in again. If you have the time at least stop for a raspberry beer.

Went to this brewery while we were in Boulder for the UofA vs CU basketball game. We were having a great time in the city, renting bicycles and rising them to the mall. Walked though the end of it to thus gym of a brewery. We did a total of 9 samples and to be honest 8 out of 9 were simply amazing. The one I didn’t like was just too weak. We found a side table outside on the street front patio and enjoyed people watching. Servers were super friendly. They mention they all pool tips together and work as a team so we had several servers helping us and they were all nice. We also ordered a chicken quesadilla and it was great! Although Mountain Sun looks like more of a restaurant but don’t let looks deceive you. It’s plenty of fun and their beers are great. They also just had«stout» month so they made many different styles. All good. I will make this a regular stop on my future Boulder adventures!

My boyfriend and I came here after our hike around 2pm on a Sunday. we thought we’d have to wait awhile, but we got lucky and got seated within 5 minutes! Usually the wait around this time is around 20 minutes if you have a party bigger than 2. I loved how the waiters don’t have their specific tables so you can ask anyone for anything. Service is kind of slow b/c they are so busy, but it wasn’t too bad. They give you as many samples as you’d like so that was nice to get to try several different beers before deciding on a pint. They had a lot of stouts on tap, so if you’re into stouts, this is the place to be! I had the Date Night burger and my boyfriend had the steak sandwich. Both were pretty good, nothing extraordinary though. The fries though. definitely fresh and perfect. I would give 3 stars just for the food, but the experience and staff bumps it up to 4 stars! I had fun just sampling different beers, loved the ambiance, and the staff was all super sweet. :) I would definitely come back! But I would try something different on the menu. Much to choose from! :)

I came here with my family based on the Unilocal reviews — and it delivered for us. Mountain Sun Pub & Brewery is a kinda loud,(important) cash-only local brewery that has a fun atmosphere, and a little outside patio. Mountain Sun is a micro-brew where every employee does every job, so you can flag down anyone to address your needs, although you will also have a primary server. The service was top notch, the team approach works here. My girls were introduced to the game board area, and sure enough, an intense game of Battle Ship broke out at our table. Just wanted to give a flavor for the ‘unique’ style of this establishment. I went with a flight of beers, which included 6 varieties(6oz pours), and I was glad that I did. I enjoyed them all, some more than others, but a tasty treat. There is definitely a beer for everyone and with free samples, how can you resist? The family all enjoyed a burger. They make a good burger, and they have several styles and sizes. For a burger and a beer, this place is hard to beat. As I look back on our trip, this was a ‘food & beer’ highlight. This location requires street parking, so bring coins, our pay with your credit card. Cheers to this experience!

A long time ago, too long as it turns out, I came here for lunch. Thank goodness we came back today because I had forgotten how awesome this place is. For starters, I love the cozy feel of the restaurant. It feels like a local place where you can just be yourself and enjoy some great food and beer. I went with the date night burger. A heavenly combo of burger, date spread, poblano chili’s, goat cheese and bacon. Sweet, salty, meaty and tangy. It hit all the notes. Lovingly tucked into the basket were hand cut fries that were perfect examples of what a French fry should be. Three of us ordered this burger and three of us were happy campers. The hubs went with the junk burger and was equally pleased. Our waitress was incredible too. She was sweet, thoughtful and very good at her job. We all really liked her and she was attentive to the very end when we paid. Next time, we will not wait so long to come back.
