Just your average sushi place in newbury that also serves Korean dishes. We came here for the dessert bowls that people have been craving about. Got the Hawaiian shaved ice with mango, and I don’t know what it was but it tasted super bitter. The mango itself was fine but the sauce is a mix of condensed milk and mango– and I’m pretty sure it was an really unripe mango used for the sauce. My sisters and I couldn’t finish it.

Came to Wabora for a quick bite with a friend because of the groupon offer. The sushi was okay– we had a rainbow roll and dragon roll. Kind of small for the price. The best part of the meal was definitely the shaved ice. We had the azuki bean with mochi and condensed milk. Tasty and light and enough for two to share!

Hawaiian Shaved Ice $ 13.95 — Choice of pineapple or melon — half of the whole pineapple or melon filled with shaved milk ice, ice cream and other toppings. I came for the fruit shaved ice. We got a melon(it was honeydew that day) and a pineapple and shared it among our party of 4. All I could sense was ice, condensed milk, fruit, whipped cream, and an oreo on top. What ice cream? Still it was tasty, though I surprisingly preferred the pineapple since I initially had my heart set on on the honeydew. With such a simple list of ingredients, the ripeness and sweetness of the fruit makes or breaks the dish. Other than one mouthful of ice stuck together, it was a nice light treat. Tea ain’t free here. They have fun super hero themed individual gendered bathrooms — check them out!

Overpriced and average. Wabora is a small family-owned restaurant that serves sushi and several korean dishes. I didn’t feel like sushi that night, so I ordered bibimbap and seafood udon. The meal itself wasn’t anything special. My low review is mainly because the prices are way too high for the quality of food. And to top it off… our server forgot our water. The dessert looks good though – a series of Hawaiian shaved ice. Unfortunately, I’m not sure I’ll go back.

They’re sushi wasn’t too bad, but the place is definitely pretty small and a little more pricy than other sushi places. Luckily my friend and I had a groupon that was like $ 18 for $ 30 worth of sushi so that helped. Their selection is a bit smaller than most sushi restaurants but they also offered ramen which we didn’t get. Ended up with a mango roll, salmon roll, and rainbow roll and it was all decent sized and pretty tasty!

Had a pretty clutch night here with some close friends. Arrived around 7pm but there weren’t any tables available. We put our name and number down for the waiter to call us when the table is ready. That was very nice of him! It is best to call and make reservations! Hard to find parking on Newbury. Best to park in the mall. Everything is very pricey. Sushi rolls range from $ 13-$ 20. The cheapest roll is $ 6(yam roll) which was pretty good. Highly recommended! Yoooo that melon Hawaiian shaved ice was to die for. So damn good! Get get get!!! Definitely will be back for another chill night.

This place has some really awesome sushi! Came here on my first night in Boston on my college visit trip. Tried the miso soup and several rolls. The miso soup was great, and the rolls were all tasty and very unique! Prices were a little above average compared to what I’m used to(in California) but I’ve heard that it’s pretty standard in Boston. I tried the Titan Roll, Spicy Crunch Roll, and the Firecracker Roll. They were all great, but the spicy crunch roll was AMAZING. The interior is very modern, and a little small but we were seated immediately. It filled up a little later in the night. Our sushi took a little longer than average to come out after we ordered, but it was forgivable considering how great and fresh the sushi tasted. Overall, I was very pleased and can’t wait to come here again when I go to Boston for college!

Wabora is a cute, authentic Japanese restaurant that serves a variety of rolls, noodle bowls, and Hawaiian shaved iced. The sitting was quite intimate but the food and service were excellent. While waiting for my friend, I ordered a Hot Green Tea. My friend Randy B. ordered three spicy rolls(Titan Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll, and Volcano Roll) while I ordered two sweet rolls(Yam Roll, Mango Roll). The Yam Roll consisted of deep fried yam sticks wrapped in seaweed, rolled in rice and drizzled with a sweet soy sauce. Instead of getting the Shrimp Tempura Roll, I decided to get The Mango Roll, which consisted of two shrimp tempura, crabmeat, avocado, and cucumber wrapped in seaweed, rolled in rice, topped with fresh, thinly sliced mango, and drizzly with a creamy and tangy sweet and sour sauce. Since my friend Randy B. wasn’t a pineapple fan and I wasn’t a melon fan, we decided to share a Red Bean Shaved Iced, which consisted of snow like shaved ice, topped with red bean and mochi, drizzled with condensed milk, and served in a tea mug.

I came here with my brother using a groupon. The place is new in the area I think so they don’t have that many customers yet. The place is pretty small but looks quite nice inside. It was not that crowded on a Friday night. We ordered the sushi pizza and it was really good! The rice was very crispy and the combination of everything was perfect. We tried the sweet potato roll as well and that was also pretty good. The next order was the volcano which looked amazing in the menu. However when it came out, I must say it was a huge disappointment. This is my least favorite of the dinner. It looked nothing like the picture. And the scallops were just put on top of the roll which looked very unappealing. The scallops did not taste that great either. We ordered the crunchy roll next and luckily it really saved the day. The roll was excellent!!! Also the service was a little not on point at time. I think since the waiter is new, he missed a few obvious things. One thing is he did not bring us the plates at all, and the other thing is he forgot the soy sauce. But overall we thought the food was good and would like to go back there again for sure.

I’ve been dying to come here for their melon dessert for the longest time and finally satisfied my craving today after shopping. When I first arrived it was a full house with some reserved tables. My friend and I decide to sit at the sushi bar to avoid the wait. The first thing I noticed was how short staffed it was, but I didn’t mind because we ordered some drinks. I must say, even though they were short staffed, the team worked so well together to try to satisfy everyone. The server, host, chefs and everyone was so friendly! I could tell that it was chaotic for them but they put a smile on whenever they approached me regardless of everything else that was going on. They also tried to be as quick as possible. Now for the most important, food. We ordered the tuna tower, spicy salmon pizza, yellowtail and scallions maki, and the melon dessert. EVERYTHINGWASAMAZING. I do think that the tuna tower had WAY too much wasabi mayo, so the next time I come back, I’ll most likely sub that out. But overall I loved everything. The salmon pizza especially, with crispy rice, it was super flavorful! And the melon dessert wasn’t overly sweet with the perfect light taste to it. After eating so many things with different sauces, the dessert cleansed our palette. I’ll definitely be back!

Ordered take out from here with a friend on a Saturday night. I decided to go with a couple orders of the spicy tuna roll and the shrimp tempura roll. Though the order took a little while to get to us, the rolls were all very tasty and were a good amount of food for the price. Definitely not a bad place to grab a bite to eat or order takeout from.

1stly the place is very small, it’s might be difficult for families who have young kids & it’s not place for big groups! This place is more for dates! To get your seats, must call to reserve! Their sushi is yummy, sweet, tasty, a bit spicy and it is really good! It’s like fusion! I like their Japanese green tea!

I was looking for a better experience and better taste, honesty. I saw that this location had a 4 star rating, and the prices for lunch were reasonable in comparison to other sushi places in the area. I stopped in for lunch, and I was seated at the sushi bar immediately. The server was nice and attentive. I perused the menu and inquired about the lunch specials; I ended up settling on a lunch«box» which was quite filling. The lunch box came with two rolls, a salad, two dumplings and an orange(peeled and sliced). The rolls were not spectacular, in my opinion. The dumplings were tasty, and the salad was just ok. If you need to pop into a sushi place for a quick lunch, I think this place is ok, but I would check other options first.

After reading all the rave reviews about the shaved ice, we just had to come here for a quick bite(used a Groupon). We ordered: — Crispy Crunch Roll — Red Bean Shaved Ice — Melon Shaved Ice The Crispy Crunch Roll was really flavorful, and came as 8 pieces — would definitely recommend getting it on a first visit. As for the two desserts, I preferred the melon shaved ice over the red bean one. The red bean one was a bit more icy than creamy(didn’t have enough condensed milk or red bean), and was a bit messy since they serve it in a mug rather than a large bowl. The melon shaved ice was really good, and I would be more than happy to try it again. This place is a bit more on the expensive side, but their variety of sushi is well worth it.

Came here with a group of about 15 girls for a birthday party. The place is tiny! So for our big group, you definitely want to call ahead for a reservation way ahead of time. The sushi was pricey. Seemed like even the normal rolls were hiked up in price — guess that’s pretty on par with Newbury prices for food. I split food with a couple other girls, all the rolls were good. The spicy salmon sushi pizza was definitely their star dish! It’s pretty much like a crusted rice cake with salmon and wabora sauce on top. So delicious. People at our table ordered it again since they were still hungry! It’s that good! I also ordered the tuna tower, the mango roll, and the rainbow roll. All good, but nothing really stood out like I had to get it again here. We ended with dessert… Between the whole table we ordered the melon and pineapple Hawaiian shaved ice! So cute and adorable! And YUM. Especially the pineapple one. I would definitely get that one again. Overall, not bad. I would probably come back for the pineapple dessert! But otherwise, there are better sushi places to go to!

I came here on a Thursday night around 7:30 for a friend’s birthday dinner. The restaurant is very small, but was able to accommodate a party of 12 – 14 girls(we reserved maybe 2 weeks or so in advance). That being said, they would be only able to accommodate one party of that size at a time. The restaurant wasn’t really busy. They only had one sushi chef working. The menu has pictures of all their specialty sushi rolls. I tried the Volcano Scallop Roll and the Crispy Crunch Roll. I really liked the Crispy Crunch roll. The volcano had way too much sauce on it for me, but hey it is a volcano roll right? BTW the sauce packs a bit of spice to it. My friends got the Salmon Sushi Pizza and they all raved about how tasty it was — they even got second orders of it. We got the two orders of the Hawaiian Shaved Ice(Melon and Pineapple) to share among the table. The pineapple one tasted like a pina coolata. Pineapple balls and coconut shaved ice — very refreshing, def would recommend. The oreo on top of the shaved ice is kind of random though. I didn’t taste the melon one, but I think the party’s consensus was the pineapple tasted better. A bit pricey for sushi. Some of their sushi rolls were priced $ 18, but they were pretty heavy rolls. I felt full even though I shared the two rolls I ordered with a friend.

My friend and I came for lunch around 11AM right when they opened. I recommend coming a little after opening, but before 12 to beat the lunch crowd. The restaurant is on the smaller side with unique looking chairs. Because we came right when they opened, the server was a little disoriented and seemed to have a slight language barrier. When I asked him what kind of melon was used for the dessert he seemed so confused and didn’t know. Overall, service was okay. Food –spicy cottage roll: The roll was decent. It was like a spring roll because the rice paper wrap substituted the usual rice outer layer. There was a subtle kick to each bite. The roll was kind of loose so when I picked up the pieces, the inside would start to crumble out. –shrimp tempura + spicy tuna roll lunch box: The rolls were okay, nothing special. My friend said the spicy tuna roll was too salty and numbed her tongue. The salad dressing on the side salad had a weird fruity taste. I would say the lunch boxes are the best bargain. Dessert –melon Hawaiian shaved ice: highly recommend! Just the presentation alone will draw your sweet tooth side to order it. The inside is full with Hawaiian style shaved ice with surprisingly complementing granola pieces. The shaved ice tasted like there was condensed milk on top and it was not too sweet; it was more refreshing. The carved inside of the melon is used to decorate the outside and it was topped with an oreo. Overall, I would come back only for the Hawaiian shaved ice. Their food is nothing special and definitely is not reasonable for the price. transportation:0.3mi away from Green E line(prudential center)

For my friend’s birthday party, I gave her(from my Unilocal collection) a giant list of restaurants choices to choose from. She was down to two: Wabora or Ittoku. Everyone help vote for Wabora because of them beautiful desserts picture. Quickly do my Unilocal research and saw some not so good reviews about bad service, so I was concern… These people trust me! If I take them to a bad restaurant, my reputation would be RUIN!!! AHHH Too late to change now. Call them for a reservation on Thursday night: 15 people at 6pm on Saturday please. The Mr on the phone was like«WOW! 15 ppl». LOLZ yes I have friends. Reserved. BOOM! I show up 15 minutes early day off just to make sure we are ok. They allow me to seat quickly. This would never happen anywhere else, mind you. We’ve been to so many restaurant where they make us wait a billion years even with our reservation because 1 person would be late. I thought we would have to wait forever since one of our friend would be 30 minutes late. But nope, such kindness! Let me seat 15 minutes early, good thing because I’ve been shopping and oh so tired. My party slowly trickle in. We must be the worse party ever since there was problems with the train and half of us were super late… Sorry! ½ of us ordered because we didn’t want to make them wait on us for so long. Feel bad bc Mr. waiter was being so attentive, every eye contact he would come to see if we need anything. We got 2 waiter for our party because we are so big. Mr. Waiter A offer us some advice on what to order since we seem super clueless. Food all came out quickly and everyone got to eat basically at the same time. Eventually everyone finally came! Feel bad for the other patron since our loudness must have disturbed their lovely dinner. OOPSYSORRY! Overall very impress with their service. Waiters were fast, kind, and attentive. Make me very confuse about the previous reviews that was written from other people only a few days ago… Either they got different staff or they really do try to learn from what other people have suggested! Food was bomb. Friends devoured their Titan rolls too quickly. Two people with the Super Crunchy roll absolutely loved theirs. My sashimi bowl was beautiful and scrumpdilioscous. The 2 bi bim bap next to me also received rave reviews from my friends. Udon was«ok» :(Other people who came later seems to enjoy their food, I forgot to care because I was too busy eating mine. Desserts time! My part of the table got the Melon Hawaiian Ice and the birthday girl’s half got the Pineapple Hawaiian Ice. Such gorgeous dessert. Absolutely love love the ice so yummy. We being extra Asian scraped off the excess melon because it was too yummy to waste. BONUSPOINTS!!! They offered to splits our check individually. They even split the dessert’s price for us on our individual checks. This is good because I always get stuck with doing the food math x. x Also they did warn us ahead of time about the service charge for large party. We were fine with that because we felt really bad for them since we were probably super loud XD Definitely will be coming back soon. Kind of pricey so will be going on my fancier days. Lesson of the day is to not be too obsess with other people’s reviews and to try something for yourself or else you could be missing out! Everyone’s experiences may vary ~

We were very pleased with our visit to Wabora. The small space belies the delicious menu they have — which seemed inventive and beautifully presented. The staff was also very kind and friendly! would go back in a heartbeat!
