Decent breakfast sandwiches that are by no means worth the price tag and minuscule portion sizes; the single dollar sign demarcation is false advertising, Newbury St. be damned. Owner’s surly attitude was not appreciated.

Outstanding coffee, gracious service and amazing breakfast sandwiches. This place has hid from me for too long. Also, not too crowded, making it awesome for actually hearing your friends/thoughts!

I needed a quick bite to eat and got lured in by the sign advertising breakfast sandwiches. I got a sausage egg & cheese on an everything bagel. The guy who rang me up(wearing a hooded sweatshirt with a different business’ logo on it) was quick to point out that there was a tipping section on the screen and that«after I had input my tip» I would sign with my finger. Except that it didn’t feel sincere, it felt as if he was telling me: you’d better tip. I HATEFORCEDTIPPING. On to the sandwich. The sandwich consisted of a generic Stop & Shop brand bagel(no joke — I saw him pull it out of the plastic sleeve with the Stop & Shop logo on it), a microwaved frozen egg patty, and a microwaved frozen sausage patty sandwiched between 3 slices of american cheese. I would equate the sandwich to Dunkin Donuts quality, except DD’s at least makes a better bagel. In my opinion not worth the $ 5 and change I paid for it. I didn’t try the coffee so I can’t comment on that. The atmosphere was generic at best. I will probably not go back here.

Cozy, pretty, and comfy. I tried a few items and they were all good. Staff was very nice, treated me first class. A great place to relax, think, and unplug from a busy chaotic day. I walked about 6 minutes from office while raining, and it was worth every minute of it. Great job and hats off to the management.

Went there on a saturday morning with a friend because it looks the least crowded on the hectic street. Ordered the dripped latte. Not spectacular but good enough. Free wifi, gracious space, very nice place for small talks

Sofa Café is a very cute place on a very cute street. The ambiance is great. The servers are super friendly and nice. I ordered an egg sandwich to go, which was ready in minutes. I thought the vibe was super relaxed, and I liked that there was free wifi and outdoor seating. I’d come here again if I’m in the area — grab a chair and settle in for some people watching.

Charming café. We found this gem in our way out of town. The owner was so accommodating. The food was hot and delicious. When my daughter wanted a naked juice, he offered to add ice and make a smoothie. Sometimes it’s the little things that make all the difference. Obrigado! From Phoenix, AZ

Outstanding coffee can only get you so far. The gracious service, free wifi, and inspirational ambiance at Sofá took care of the rest. Sofá Café is a pleasant place to sit, read, and soak in some peace amidst the chaotic mid-day vibes of Newbury St. Having just celebrated their first anniversary at the location, the man who served me was very friendly and welcoming. Try the iced coffee and a coconut macaroon(fresh from Danish Pastry House!)

Great pace to study or work. Free wifi and a friendly staff + ginormous portions of coffee and pretty tasty pastries. If you have a sweet tooth go for the dulce de leche mocha — it’s a mocha but instead of chocolate it’s that delicious dulce de leche. mm mm good!

Love this place. Had a really good hot chocolate here during the cold winter, and I love how they give you a shot of seltzer water with your drink. Also had the Affogato recently, yummy for a summer day.

As good as it gets! I went there because a friend of mine told me the place is run by a Brazilian guy, and I myself being a Brazilian I couldn’t contain my curiosity… It’s a cute tiny spot hidden in the middle of chaotic Newbury st, they have beautiful vintage sofas and a nice décor, but the most important thing(the coffee) is also great! Really good latte that comes with a brazilian tradition, a tiny cookie to help your sweet tooth! I loved everything about this place! Great service, the owner Fred is really nice and attentive, good snacks selection and a delicious brazilian coffee!

Cute little coffee shop nestled on Newbury Street. Good spot to come study and do work but come early since it will fill up. Great selection with drinks and soda. Really appreciated that the owner/manager offered a glass of ice with my soda. Overall my experience was great. Definitely would come back if I lived closer!

I am a real sucker for cute cafes and this one is no exception. Coffee is good though the seasonal/flavored ones are slightly expensive for the amount you get. But your order is brought to you with a small cookie and some seltzer water. The cushiony long bench along the wall is not as comfy as they look — they’re a little too narrow. PS. They currently have a Groupon offer.

I come to the Sofa Café ALL the time. My favorite drink to get is the Blue Flower Earl Gray tea(the staff usually knows to get it started for me when I walk in, they’re very personal and will recognize you if you frequent the café often!), and food wise I’ve only had the blueberry muffin, which is always delicious. The price is a bit high, but it’s a lovely place to study in if you want the quiet afternoon café-environment. The couch is very comfortable, as another review mentioned. I would recommend coming here alone or with just one other person, it can be difficult to find a table for more than two people, unless you’re on the move at a non-rush hour time. I have a few very small downsides of the café. These are things that probably don’t bother too many people, but sometimes they really bother me. The temperature can get very hot and stuffy(I’m talking about winter time, when the heating is on). This is just my own personal preference though, I prefer cooler temps. I like to sit closer to the window to get a whoosh of cool air whenever another customer comes or goes through the door. The second downside is the tables. They are all SOWOBBLY. It drives me crazy every time I come here. With some of the tables you have to strategically place your foot’s weight so that it won’t wobble if you’re writing or eating something on the table. I wish this could be fixed. Very rarely has the music been too loud. It’s usually very comfortable and appropriate background music for the café. To end on a positive note though, the new(ish) turquoise chairs are great! I love the staff, always extremely friendly and lovely. Great service, lovely atmosphere.

Poucos lugares você encontra macarons em Boston. Vale a dica. O café é bem brasileiro para quem quer matar saudades da terrinha.

You will want to enjoy your coffee in-house(I will let you find out why) and the staff member that was working was incredibly helpful. Explaining the benefits of several varieties and knew the answer to literally every question I had, he was clearly cultured and loved coffee/his work. For anyone complaining about prices, you get what you pay for and I was VERY happy with the tiny cup I received, it was delicious and unique to other cafes in Boston.

I’m not a coffee drinker and I was on my way to Free Friday Flicks over at the Hatchshell, when I stopped by the Sofa Café since I needed something to stand in as my dinner. The sweets in the glass case were tempting, but with my goal of dinner in mind, I turned first to the savory items in the cooler and grabbed the Quinoa Mango Salad $ 8.00 Black Beans + Corn + Mango + Red Onions + Cilantro + Lemon Juice and the Pesto Mix Salad $ 7.00 Pasta, Mixed Lettuce, Pesto Sauce, Tomatoes, Mozzarella Cheese, Olives. Both tubs were well labeled with the list of ingredients, a sell by date, and identified the contents as a product of USA Healthy Food of Everett. I enjoyed the Pesto Mixed Salad well enough with its enticing chunks of fresh mozzarella, though I personally could have done without the olives. But the Quinoa Mango Salad was a bit bland. It could be much improved with a heavier hand in the seasonings and greater generosity in the mango department. To round out my order, from the bakery case I added the Apple Bear Claw $ 3.20 and the impressive looking Mayor Snail $ 3.80. The claw was good at room temperature, but the snail needed a pass through the toaster oven. Though they have steps leading down to their basement level door at their Newbury Street entrance, I noticed several handicap symbol marked signs advertising a handicap accessible entrance in the rear. A bathroom is available for patrons, however it was hot back there and lacked the convenience of a hook.

I came across this café the very weekend it opened. It was a sunny day on Newbury and of course the street was teeming with people. I was happy I found this place because it was not as packed as everyplace else. There’s two things I noticed: First, several times people came in and greated other customers like old friends, so I guess this café is well received with the local crowd already. Second, the guys running it are very friendly in a con-cheesy way(Latin American, hah!). One of them sat down at my table when he had his coffee break, and we had a really nice chat. One thing that they will hopefully work on is the seating arrangements outside. Outdoor sofas/benches would be just the right thing for them to do, until that happens there are several little stools that customers can use. I happily did.
