«i ordered like three times from this place and their Sicilias’s Original Gourmet Stuffed Pizza is just perfect. its kinda heavy but isn’t that what deep dish pizza is.» I noticed I wrote the review above like 2.5 years ago or something but never posted it. So now 2 years since the boston store closed shop I still believe this used to be one of the best deep dish pizza in the city. What a loss !!

I’m addicted to pizza. My first ten meals in Boston were pizza: dinner the first night then breakfast lunch and dinner for three days straight. I’m embarrassed to admit that pizza was Dominos. What can I say? I was young and foolish back then. About a month later I found myself at Tang Hall at 2AM after a night of drinking and dancing with the kind of hunger that can only be satiated by pizza. I started paging through the phone book(this was 2002) for a place that was still open and delivering. That’s how I found Sicilia’s. That started a ten year love affair with what soon became my favorite pizza on the planet. My girlfriend and I ordered Sicilia’s like once a week for ten years. She stuck with their«stuffed» deep dish, usually the«Sicilia’s Original» with spinach and mushrooms. My go-to was«regular» crust with pepperoni broccoli and extra tomato sauce. At some point they started to recognize my phone number on their caller ID and would ask if I wanted«the usual». We were so into it that when we had to get a new apartment, before signing the lease we called to be sure it was in their delivery zone. First meal after a trip out of town? Sicilia’s. Guests visiting from out of town? Gotta have Sicilia’s at least once. We’ve since moved to San Francisco, and no matter how much pizza I eat, it can’t fill the Sicilia’s-shaped hole in my heart. In retrospect it’s kind of crazy to think that we spent something like twenty thousand dollars there. But what they gave us in return was far more valuable. Just try it. I know you’ll like it.

5 stars solely for the stuffed pizza, which I used to proclaim(to anybody that would listen) was the best pizza in Boston… The stuffed pizza had almost a flaky crust(it was pretty much the only pizza crust I’ve WANTED to eat), TONS of delcious cheese and toppings(they did not skimp), and was still good cold the next day. They delivered to Berklee, which made me happy, but I continued to eat the pizza long after I was out of the delivery area. I had bookmarked this, in part, to remind myself to grab a pie next time I was in Boston, so it’s a shame they closed — I’ll have to check out the Providence location sometime.

Called 8 times to order pick-up, never answered their phone. Glad they’re closed for good! What a sketchy business model, to offer groupons and then close less than a month later.

Overall, disappointing. Got takeout at work. Fries were terrible, inedible, soggy, flavorless, and I love fries. The little pieces if falafel I liked, but the white sauce it came with, whatever the hell that was supposed to be, was just a horribly unpleasant mixture of something that tasted like sour milk and vinegar. It went right into the trash. Overall, just not good. Horrible fries and a sauce for falafel should not be that hard for a Greek delivery place. Considering all of the competition in the area, I def will not order from here again. Disappointing and a waste of $ 9. I cannot believe this place has 3.5 stars overall

I loooooove their cheese-stuffed pizza. I’m a New York girl and love that thin crust, ooey-gooey cheese-dripping grease-soaked goodness of a nice thin slice with plenty of fold to it, but the cheese-stuffed has got me convinced that deep-dish is the way to go. I’ve been ordering their cheese-stuffed pies since Seamless tricked me into it with a coupon last month, and tonight was our third such order. Two large pies covered 8 people with some to spare, and their Buffalo wings were spicy enough to pass our Upstate NY taste test. Seriously, don’t name it for the home of wings unless it’s going to be that epic. Their wings are close, but for the fact they only offer fingers or wingdings. Seriously, what self-respecting pizza joint doesn’t offer classic wings? So I love their pies, but nothing else on the menu is worth ordering. Still, when it comes to ordering a good slice, I always go with Sicilia’s.

Let me preface by saying i’m a pizza snob. I graduated kinder garden from Baker Demonstration in Evanston, IL. How is this pertinent to the story at hand? 1) Everything you ever needed to know about life you learned in kinder garden. 2) Evanston is 15 minutes south of Chicago: home of the infamous deep dish. Will you honestly question my snobbery? Now this is where the plot thickens… Sicilia’s pizzeria is damn near the closet CLONE to the much fabled, elusive, hyped up but never over exaggerated Chicogian pie. Trust me. The pie is the crisis. From the fresh flakey crust to the mildly spicy tomato sauce that whatever ingredients you deem necessary get lost in albeit favorably lost in… this pie delivers like Drew Brees in the fourth quarter! My beef? The whole reason why Sicilia’s only gets three stars out of five instead of a blazing five out five… last night when I was ravenously hungry, mind you, I order one of those aforementioned famous Chicago style pies THATTHEYDON’T EVENCLAIMTOSELL like their some punk @$$ knock UNO’S that NEVER comes through in the mix… but I digress… …I called in for a delivery, ran through the routine but then cashier number three said«opps I messed up you’re order… let me get this straight. You wanted a stuffed, deep dish, half meat lovers, half spinach pie, correct.» I told him that was correct. I then repeated that order back to him word for word. He said«gotcha». 45 minutes later pizza man knocks on my door and I pay him 23 bucks for a 19 buck pie. I sit down with my boys to feast up and say«Fellas, if this deep dish doesn’t change at least one of you’re world views I will pay you back four fold the damages for this pizza like Zacchaeus». I told them that this stuffed pizza is what the Germans proclaim as «ausgezeichnet» meaning«excellent on all accounts». I continued to hype them up for the next three minutes until they said«STOP! We’re hungry! Let’s eat, man!» We open the box and its a regular, flat crust pie that’s half meat lovers, half spinach! Nothing like how they do it in Chicago! I declared Shenanigans right then and there! I called them up and complained. Cashier number three said«I’m sorry we’re really swamped right now, all I can do is give you a 15% discount on you’re next pie.» I said«I’ll take that» and see you on …

It’s football Sunday, the first Patriots game of the season. We’re looking for something manly to eat, so we decide to call Sicilias. We order the bacon cheeseburger deep dish pizza…45 minutes for delivery. Here’s the breakdown of the structure: Bottom crust layer ground beef and cheese layer– TONS of cheese thinner crust layer crispy, real bacon bits, light cheese, and a zig-zag sauce design that tasted like a mix of ketchup and BBQ sauce All in all, the pizza was overwhelmingly good. The crust, however, is completely bland. I’m a crust lover and didn’t even bother finishing mine because it really did just taste like nothing. To get an idea on size, we ordered the 16″ XL size for three people(2 of which were hungry men) — everyone ate two and reached their absolute limit. So definitely plan for leftovers.

Love their stuffed crust pizza. It’s pretty greasy, but delicious. Just be prepared: you’ll probably only be able to eat one slice. My roommates and I would order it for delivery all the time, but I have never eaten inside the restaurant. The stuffed crust pizza is sort of deep-dish style. The slices are covered in cheese and sauce and the crust has what looks like mozzarella in it too. It’s very delicious and VERY filling. The tomato sauce was just the right mix of sweet and salty for me and the cheese is very flavorful. Food: 4⁄5 Atmosphere: N/A Service: N/A Value: 4⁄5

wow. such variability in the reviews, man. and the hate is bad and the love is good. i’m basing this review off of one(uno) experience, so take it for what it is. the pizzeria is surprisingly clean, spacious, with free Wi-Fi. almost like a café with big booths. we had the original(spinach and mushroom) deep dish(~$ 10 for a small which easily served 2). the pizza crust was fresh and flaky, great served to the table. definitely the type that would dissolve into mush given enough time sitting around. with so much sauce and all around, of course this might happen. i was surprised that the crust was flaky, because it’s the first deep dish that i’ve had so, and i didn’t think too hard about whether it was pre-made, in that i didn’t find it bad, per se. i considered the texture(flaky) and freshness, and i gave it a thumbs up. the spinach was fresh and there was a lot of it. a lot of cheese. a few mushrooms. a lot of sauce. good sauce. you know how rare and seemingly difficult deep dish pizza is on the coasts? this is the first time i’ve had a good approximation to the Real Thing since i was out in berkeley — and previously, the midwest itself. this place does a formidable deep dish. i cannot comment on 1. the delivery or 2. the reliability(is it always this good? not sure. the reviews are all over the place). if the owner is indeed flaming over negative reviews, that is sad, but in terms of service during my one visit, it was courteous and prompt. we also had«complimentary garlic bread» which was good. crispy, not smothered in butter or anything. on the healthy side, i suppose. was it pre-made? unsure. didn’t pay much attention. no glaring«oh god, prepackaged, not fresh. no warning bells. was it bad? no. no comment on the salads or on the other pizzas or anything… i just don’t know.

Man… I am really striking out today. I’m sure the pizza here is fine, but my chicken caesar salad was seriously sub-par. Pre-packaged greens and painfully dry chicken that looked and tasted like it came out of a freezer. At least the delivery was friendly and prompt.

«Desserts» and«Fried» sound amazing together to this sweet-tooth, so for fun I ordered their Fried Cheesecake bites $ 5.99 for 8 pieces to go along with an order of a large regular crust Bellablanca pizza pie $ 17.99 — Alfredo sauce, ricotta, mozzarella and oregano topped with Alfredo sauce. Yeah, that sounded good to this cheese-lover! Well, the pizza was good, though not amazing. The fried cheesecake was soft sweet cheesecake encased in a crisp crust — yeah, it was an experience… I’d get that again. My order was ready by the time I got there, but then, the restaurant was empty at just past 6pm on a Saturday. But it doesn’t seem they take orders well — I had added a note asking that they please slice my pie into 12 pieces when I had ordered off of Foodler, but it was only cut into the normal 8 slices.

So I’ll be honest, it isn’t the best pizza I’ve ever had, but I regularly order from these guys for a few reasons. –Plain/pepperoni pizza: dry and tasteless(thin or thick crust) go elsewhere for this. –Their Mediterranean and Bella Blanca pizzas are surprisingly amazing! –The stuffed pizzas are good, but a little overwhelming almost too much of a good thing. –Their stuffed jalapenos are by far, the best Ive ever had. –Wings are okay. –Assorted fried veggies and mozz. sticks, pretty good. Their staff are friendly, and their delivery times are usually pretty fast. No complaints there. As long as you order anything but their plain pizzas, it’ll be good.

Even though my Chicago friend cries«blaspheme!» I have to say, this is some of the best thick-crust pizza I’ve ever had. Including that in Chicago. Had it delivered to the Muddy Charles(#winning) and dug into the meat lovers something or other. Meat upon glorious meat piled in perfect layers complimented with cheese and a sturdy crust. No fork and knife needed! I would budget 2 slices per person only if they are very hungry. One is fine!

Wow! I would NOT order from this place ever again. I placed an order at 655 for a thin crust veggie pizza and a 2 liter of soda. The pizza arrived at 820(was supposed to be 45 minutes). The delivery man forgot my soda.(Which I paid $ 4 for.) When I bit into the pizza, it wasn’t even remotely cooked. The dough was raw. I called to complain and the man who answered the phone argued with me for 5 minutes saying that it was cooked(How does he know? Is he in my hotel room?) He claimed that the veggie pizza was hard to cook because it had so many veggies on it. That’s funny… other pizza restaurants have figured it out. He said he would send me another pizza, but it would be a while because they are very busy. I said I wanted a refund, because the pizza was inedible and I couldn’t wait 2 hours for another one. He said he would have his manager call me back in 2 hours. The delivery man returned to bring my soda, and I gave him the pizza back… we’ll see about the refund. I’m out 17 $ with no soda and no pizza… what a terrible place. Bad customer service and disgusting food! I just called back and the manager said to me that I better take my «stupid review off of Unilocal because it is immature and I am retarded.»

We have been long time goers here in Boston! And let me say we love it every time. We have dined in and we have also used them for delivery. Both are great! The shop is family ran. You can tell in a very good way. They care about getting your order right and making you happy! We normally do a pizza with an app to share. Other times we have each done a kaba with an app. Either way we always end up spending less than $ 25.00 total. So its a great deal. If you order out they normally will make it to your place in less than 40 minutes. Perfect for us. Out of the dozen times we have ordered out they have never been late. Eating in is also amazing! They take your order and you just go sit and wait for them to bring it to you. They are always super friendly and out to make you happy. Let me tell you they do a good job here too! So not matter what… If your eating in or ordering out its great every time! There is a reason why when we want pizza we just instantly agree… Sicilia’s? Sure! Perfect 5⁄5! You can not go wrong with these guys!

Typical pizza joint. Not pretentious, which is sometimes just a breath of fresh air. Especially when that air smells like pizza. My favorite part was the cheese. I wasn’t a big fan of the sauce.

Worst Pizza EVER! Here we go – check the uploaded pictures I added to witness the horror. This is, by FAR, the absolute worst pizza I’ve ever experienced. Terrible dough and crust, it’s flaky and synthetic-tasting with no smell to it: it actually tastes and looks like cardboard(I am not kidding, my friend actually said that after his first and only bite). I only ate it because I paid and hate to waste food, but seriously, it’s the most terrible pizza ever. Worse than frozen pizza(even the generic Shaws brand), worse than the pizza you get from Eddie’s – if you’re from Brookline, you might remember Eddie, the food truck that sells various goods by the high school. Ah, good times, good times. Anyway, back to the pizza, it’s disgusting! The sauce, which most will agree, is the cornerstone of the pizza, here is a pasty tomato blah that makes the thing taste even worse! The cheese is, um, just cheese. Back to the dough, I have never ever left a crust behind and for the first time I left all the crust because well, I really could not eat it. Oh, the horror, the horror! This place was just about EMPTY when I came in – dinner time on a Saturday! One guy sitting in the back on his laptop and that’s it. I waited 10 minutes for my pizzas and no one came in. Being located across from Boston University, you’d figure they’d get more business but now I know why. Pathetic excuse for a pizzeria. People who love this place make me wonder if they lost their taste buds or something. My review is solely based on the food quality, not the service, though the service sucked too. The cashier guy cheated me out of 30 cents, but no big deal so I didn’t make it an issue. I called in my order of 2 regular cheese pizzas, went there to pick them up 20 minutes later and still had to wait 10 more minutes(and they weren’t even busy!). *confused* Pizza is something we can eat everyday for a year, vow never to eat it again, but crave it after a month. So it’s very disappointing that Sicilia fucked it up so bad. If you want decent to good pizza, up a few blocks is T. Anthony’s(they used to be a lot better, before they started hiring students or whatever who really don’t care if you like it or not). If you want the BESTPIZZA in Boston, you need to try Santarpio’s in East Boston! It’s the first exit out of the Sumner Tunnel, heading to Logan Airport. You won’t be disappointed! Long standing family business and they’re actually Italians who know how to make a great pizza. Pizzeria Regina’s is great too! Probably the two best places for pizza in Boston. But my heart is with Santarpio’s. All they have there is pizza and appetizers of lamb on skewer and sausages, that’s it! No salads, no subs, nothing. Strictly pizza which is great, I think. Prices are very good, lots of locals, lots of celebrity photos, always packed, lots of free off-street parking, just a great place. Hmm, maybe I should just write a review for them! Duh, right?! Hope my review helps! So when you walk by Siciia’s, keep walking! There’s a reason that fuckin’ place is always empty and I, actually, hope they close down, unless they make some serious changes! Argh! ***UPDATE: Filed Police Complaint against Owner of Sicilia’s for Harassment.*** Shortly after my review, I started getting harassing and threatening calls from a BLOCKED number and my phone account got hacked 5 – 6 times. I told this random guy to knock it off, but he kept calling and trying to scare me hiding behind his BLOCKED number. This went on for days. I filed a complaint with the police since he clearly wasn’t going to stop, got his number and information and turns out it’s the owner of Sicilia’s. The police paid him a visit and remind him that harassing customers isn’t how you deal with bad reviews. So basically he used the number I called to order the pizzas to harass me. All this over someone who didn’t like the pizza. Sad. If you like their pizza, go ahead and enjoy it. This is my experience with the place. If you haven’t realized the new fake accounts trashing me and 5-staring Sicilia’s, then go try it out for yourself. Gah, all this over a *beep*in’ pizza… sheesh.

Please note the following review is only for delivery, two instances to be specific. There were few dining options when we arrived at our hotel late. It had been a long day of travel across the country and thankfully there was pizza delivery that gave us the opportunity to unpack, shower and wait for dinner in our pajamas. Our order came quickly within the promised time frame. The pizza was appropriately meaty and not over-sauced. The chef salad was made according to my request and honestly that hummus sandwich was enough for two! The second time we used their delivery service was toward the end of a very robust day at PAX East. After concerts and several rounds at a hotel bar, my companions realised that food was in order and quickly. I called them and the employee who took down my order was very accommodating as I explained that yes, I did order when I was at the Colonnade but no, it didn’t need to go to our room. This order needed to go to the Sheraton bar. Again the pizza arrived within the promised time frame and my Greek salad was festooned with as much feta as any girl could want. Overall their menu items were sound and as promised. It wasn’t the best pizza I had ever had but in both instances, necessity dictated the enjoyment. But to be clear, it wasn’t bad food either. It was perfectly serviceable late night grub and when you don’t have a car or access to room service, it works just fine.

Oh man, what a dilemma I had yesterday. I recorded Throwdown with Bobby Flay on my DVR and decided to watch it around 7pm last night with my girlfriend. This week’s throwdown: Chicago-style deep dish pizza. A torturous 30 minutes later both of our stomachs were growling and craving only one thing: deep dish pizza. Problem: We are in Boston, not Chicago. What can I do? After posting a thread about where I could acquire such a specialy product here in Beantown I was referred to this place on Commonwealth avenue. I was trying to avoid Pizzeria Unos as much as possible although they make a mean one! Especially that farmers one which tastes awesome, but they are a chain and I’d much rather support a local shop instead… We loaded up Foodler and here we are, ordering the very same thing we saw on TV, to be delivered right to the apartment an excruciating 55 minutes later. We tried the meat lovers one and got it medium sized. That sucker must have weighed at least 8 lbs. I kid you not, the thing was monstrous! I was scared when I opened up that pizza box lid. Seriously. It tasted pretty good and was very decently priced. That thing could have fed an army of twelve, easily. Thirteen even! The delivery guy was lazy and didn’t come up to the unit, he called me and told me to come down, despite the big tip I left. That sucked, especially since I was watching the game. Oh well… They need to add some more varieties of their deep dishes to their menu. The chain Pizerria Unos has some interesting ones that they should rip off, with more vegetables, kinds of cheeses and meats. But despite the small selection, it was pretty good! I’d definitely get more in the future!
