Rick’s Place

Rick’s Place is a small convenience shop that sells good coffee and an array of bakery and other convenience store-​type foods like pre-​packaged sandwiches, yogurt, bananas, juice, chips, granola bars, etc. It is located inside the 1 Ashburton Place state office building, so if you don’t have a state employee ID card, you’ll need to pass through the metal detector to get in. Most of what Rick’s Place sells can be purchased in the much larger Ashburton Café cafeteria one floor below, but it saves you a few minutes and a flight of stairs. Plus, Rick’s Place stays open later, which can be a figurative lifesaver for those days when you need a late-​afternoon snack or you’re so absorbed in your work that you completely miss lunch.
