Incredible! They really do have the old school, fried apple pies! I thought they were gone for good. But, thanks to a fellow Unilocaler — Vivian C — was thought lost, is found. Thank you Vivian C!!!

Worst McDonald’s ever. How do you mess up an order twice in a row, not even care, and then serve food that defies the mass production that is supposed to be McDonald’s. I didn’t expect much but was still disappointed. Impressive!

Just for the fact that they have FRIED apple pies — 4 stars right there. Sure the pies are a bit skinnier than I remember from ages past, but they are deep fried(not baked) and hot and sweet and bad for you. One for 79 cents(85 cents after tax) or two for $ 1.25($ 1.34 after tax). Get it. Got it? Good. *** 8⁄2015 *** NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! So I heard this Mickey D’s has closed… and with it, is gone the only source I know of within reasonable distance of McDonald’s own deep fried apple pies… RIP, again…

There was… mold…on…on my sandwich. I have an honest to God phobia of being served /eating expired food. Like, a legitimate phobia, and THERE. WAS. MOLD. ON. MY. SANDWICH. Let me preface that by saying that this particular McDonalds is constantly surrounded by panhandlers outside, and overwhelmed by bums/drunks/junkies on the inside, and THEREWASMOLDONMYSANDWICH. There are constantly bums digging through the garbage or just sitting in a booth filling the place with an unholy stink, and a dude outside trying to sell you a newspaper that’s probably free anyways and THEREWASMOLDONMYSANDWICH. The staff takes orders 10x faster than they fill them, backing everything up and causing a crowd of annoyed people standing around for 10+ minutes waiting for their food and THEREWASMOLDONMYSANDWICH. The hash browns in the morning are either going to be ice cold in the middle or just soaked completely through with grease and THEREWASMOLDONMYSANDWICH. I called them to tell them that I was there less than 10 minutes ago and that THEREWASMOLDONMYSANDWICH, but I couldn’t come back in to exchange it, and after trying to communicate that unsuccessfully to a woman that understood little to no English, she told me not to call there again and I was stuck with MOLDONMYSANDWICH. Just avoid this place at all cost. Just… just go away. Go away and never look back.

Speed over presentation is all I’m going to say about this place. The person who took my order was in a real rush to get my order done, and not in the good way. The place is big, and the menu is expansive, though some of the staples of the Value Menu are gone. Also, there is no control of who is around the area, so there was a fair amount of harassment from non-patrons.

Not only is the MD’s lacking staff to run all of the pan-handlers out of the building, they don’t seem to have an A/C unit that works! This was a 3rd world and filthy establishment. If I had the power, I’d close this one!

How this place can have over 1 star is beyond me. I literally only go in here for the $ 1.07 coffee. But everytime I go in I always get a show. From Junkies nodding off in the booths to drunk people pissing themselves. On any given day you are likely to find at least 10 – 20 homeless people sitting around in the front area. I went in there this week and there were 2 booths full of homeless/junkies. One person had literally 1 tooth and about 30 garbage bags with him. I also saw the manager(?) or assistant manager come flying around from the back to scream at one of the homeless dudes who was in between passing out and passed out to try to kick him out of the store. Try is the word here, as the guy was falling out of his chair and onto the floor. This place is a JOKE, but it is good for a show.

People! Let’s get a grip! McDonald’s is a GLOBAL franchise. They’ve been in business since the 1950’s. They all run the same way: take the order, take the payment, produce the food, let the customer walk off into the sunset. Not at this place. Take the order, take the payment, bring only the heated food to you(with a very«light» portion on the fries scale) forgetting about your drink, so you ask 6 times for it as you have already paid for it and then someone brings it to you after 12 other people have placed orders and are going through the same thing. It’s lunchtime. Things are busy. Get a grip and here’s a bit of advice, stuff the fucking fries holders till you can’t get the silver fry dispenser out of it! Cheap.

Okay, I have to admit that I do sometimes go to McDonalds’… but specifically to the one at the Corner Mall or the one near Berklee College of Music and Art. Why? They have a staple of my childhood: Fried apple pie. 2 for a buck. Need I say more? I keep vanilla ice cream in my office freezer and have it with the fried apple pie when I want comfort food. Why do these two McDonalds’ offer fried apple pie? The operator of these franchises, I chatted with for a bit. It’s an operations reason. They are not open for breakfast, and at most McDonalds’, they use the oven only for breakfast and then during the day, they use the oven for apple pie and cookies to keep the fryer always free for rushes. Well, and fried apple pies are BETTER. Dishes to try: Fried apple pie. Old fashioned, tube-flap wrapped, hot fried apple pie. With ice cream.

This McDonald’s and the one on Tremont across from the Common are the only two i’ll go to(if I have to) in the city. Service is prompt and the seats are clean. I don’t make it common practice to ever visit fast food joints when I don’t have to – but if I do — these will do just fine.

I was inclined to write a review for this specific Mickey D’s because I know there has to be someone else out there that misses those fried apple pies like I do. Well, I don’t miss them as much because I just had one today! As a kid, I used to love McDonald’s fried apple pies. I would always burn my tongue because I couldn’t wait for the filling to cool down. Anyhoo, as Americans got fatter and fatter, corporations felt obligated to offer healthier options to its customers. All of a sudden, fruit parfaits, sesame chicken salad, and BAKED apple pies invaded our fast food restaurants. You don’t have to suffer any more! Yup, that’s right… the McDonalds located in the Corner Mall in Downtown Crossing has the FRIED apple pies, not the baked ones. Well, what are you waiting for? Go get one!
