Great food, great prices, great atmosphere to hang out, a little slow service, but they were slammed. The food nicely complimented the house drinks as well. When it comes to tacos I am a bit of a stickler and base them on traditional Mexican tacos, so they did not hit the traditionaly street taco vibe if that is what you are looking for. They do however make tacos with very fresh ingredients, thought through toppings and have an excellent flavor to them. I had the shaved pork taco and loved its very smokey flavor which was a great combo with the margarita. I would definitely come back

Oh Loco, why couldn’t I have discovered you sooner? As an obnoxious Californian, I am highly critical of tacos and after trying some other of Beantown’s offerings, I had pretty much resigned myself to simply waiting ’til I returned to the golden state to get my hands on some ~worthy~ tacos. However, after grabbing din here, I have been proven wrong. And gladly so! The root beer braised braised chicken and blackened swordfish tacos were spectacularly saucy and seasoned. Also great was the pineapple charred guac… like bruh, talk about an upgrade from Chipotle! And even though these items might sound incredibly bougie(especially to taco purists) they were worth every penny and bite — just ask my happy tummy.

Shaved pork and carne asada tacos were yummy, meaty. Basic guac was pretty standard. Wasn’t knocked out by the cauliflower app, but others at the table liked it. I thought the street corn needed more cheese, etc. — living in L.A., I’ve had the real deal and that stuff is usually loaded on. Michael Bivins drink was a bit lacking, perhaps needed some Bell and DeVoe.

The drinks are good as well as the brunch. The tacos are really bland and the tortillas really ruin the meal. I avoid ordering dinner whenever I go since the menu is limited to mostly tacos.

I don’t get the hype. Two stars for a cool looking interior, nice wait staff, and windows that open up. Food didn’t taste like anything — got the cola carnitas tacos, the actual tacos looked super good, but when I tasted them they were super bland. Didn’t actually taste like much. What a disappointment. I’ve had street tacos from little places in NYC were so flavorful they’ll knock you off your chair. Also, the crowd that hangs here is douchey, and it’s loud.

Wow, I ordered the steak with potatoes and the meat was so raw and bloody I couldn’t eat my meal. Disgusting. waiter didn’t even ask if we wanted it well, medium or rare. He assumed we wanted it raw

Everyone says try the margaritas! Trying to be different, we got the mojitos. Unfortunately, being different meant my drink wasn’t as satisfying as the highly raved about margaritas. We ordered the chips with bacon guacamole as a starter. The chips were crispy and flavourful. The guacamole was refreshingly good with a nice subtle crunch of bacon. Next up, tacos! Carne Asada? You can’t go wrong. It was full of flavor and actually pretty filling. Cute décor and atmosphere. Kind of reminiscent of Dallas, TX bars. Overall it was a terrific place to try and definitely getting margaritas next time.

I am giving 3 stars based on service, tortilla chips and sangria. We sat at the bar and the bar tender waited on us right away and was very attentive. We ordered the queso dip which was delicious along with the tortilla chips. Sangria was great! However, easily the worst tacos we’ve ever had which was pretty disappointing. My swordfish was overlooked and dry and the sauces are packed with cilantro which scares me in regards to the guacamole. Cilantro is an acquired taste — you need to let people know.

This place is very nice. came here for dinner and beer with a friend. Coming from LA I was surprised they charge you $ 13 or so for 2 Tacos. Really? In LA the Tacos are max $ 2 but then again it’s very traditional and small. Here at Loco the Tacos are pretty big each with 2 Taco wraps and they decorate it pretty fancy. It is indeed a little filling still in my opinion overpriced. The beer was good so was the service.

When I die, please bury me at Loco. The very best. Coconut marg is not something I would have EVER chosen to order, but it is truly perfect, complex, and not overly sweet. My go-to is the spicy marg or the Britney and the cheerleader is also delicious. Can’t go wrong with fresh oysters for buck a shuck Monday, taco Tuesday never fails to impress me, and their chips and guac is making me emotional just thinking about it.

Good luck getting a window seat when the weather is perfect. Good luck, or to the early bird? A 5:30p reso snagged us prime real estate to watch evening commuters grab the bus. You can practically taste the hydraulic lift! Seriously though, people watching superplus. Loco’s vibe is just… right. Low key, tonally spot-on, and primed for after work dranking. The El Jefe was neither too tart nor too sweet, had a decent booze pour for $ 9. Tablemates got these crazy, dolled-up things they seemed to enjoy, but my classic marg hit the spot. The house fried tortilla chips get seasoned based on your guac. Smoked fish = salt & vinegar, while the Charred Pineapple topped avo dip($ 11) had a sultry, fragrant spice that played the sweet well. Serving size is smaller than expected — an order will probably work best for two peeps. The tacos! Carne asada and cola braised pork carnitas were mountainous beasts, justifying the $ 5 – 6 per price tag(orders come with two). Charred lime is a pretty touch. Plated well on a dark wood table, and the IGers at the table could help but capture the visual. Eat with your eyes first, my dears! All in all, a really fun experience. I could see some serious mistakes happening after a long night of posting up with friends at the bar. And that’s a beautiful thing.

The atmosphere is great for groups or couples — casual enough for a fun night out. The ambiance is a lot of fun and the food is delicious. Our group ordered tacos, oysters, drinks, and guac and we all loved the variety and interesting tastes. Service was also friendly too! Would definitely eat there again when I’m in the area.

Delicious margaritas and tacos! Definitely a little more expensive than your average Mexican spot, two tacos will run you about $ 10-$ 14 with no sides. The tacos are big and the filling is generous though. We also got the puffed nachos which were delicious but the meat to chip ratio was a little off, we had a ton of meat left over afterwards.

Went here yesterday with a group of Co workers. I had the oyster seviche which was presented so artfully it was almost a shame to eat. When you bite into it you can taste the sweet and sour from the fruits and when your taste buds finally reaches the oyster, it is a sweet surprise. It comes with three and the cost about $ 11. Next came the two tacos I ordered, don’t remember what they were but it was delicious. Take a look at the pictures… it will make you hungry.

First time & we love this place already! GREAT atmosphere! Feels like you’re at someone’s house in the South, enjoying a house party in their porch! The mixed drinks are awesome!!! Tons of beer & ciders. And a raw bar to boot!!! This place is worth the trip to Southie! :). The only reason why it’s not 5 stars is because the shrimp could’ve been fresher, and the nachos weren’t phenomenal, but were pretty good.

Came here Thursday night for dinner with a friend — so glad we did! There was a wait(any good place would have one) and we put our names(because they don’t take reservations…) in and got a drink. From the beginning we had great service. Loco was LOUD and I mean everyone was talking, everyone was having a good time! It’s definitely a place to enjoy good mexican-inspired dishes and great selection of cocktails, wines and cerveza. We ordered the shrimp ceviche, the friend oyster tacos, guacamole and the fried rock shrimp. ALL were SOSO good. I highly recommend starting with the guacamole, the chips have a nice bite(trust me, you’ll be like«ohhh mmmm!» and the guacamole is JUST right(trust me again, I’m from San Diego). However, my favorite meal of the night was the shining star, the fried oyster taco. From the first bite to the last… you get texture, you get bite, you get a little spicy, a little sweet and just a creamy smooth sauce. I HIGHLY recommend trying a couple of their tacos and make sure you include this one! Definitely a must when in Southie, and even if you’re not(like me!) a definite must to stop by, it’s worth the trip!

So I was a little skeptical of eating Mexican in Southie, but it exceeded expectations. We went for Taco Tuesday and ordered the crispy cauliflower, the baja fish/crab cake tacos(which were like $ 2 each), and the low rider bourbon cocktail. So so good. Everything tasted super fresh, the restaurant was gorgeous, and it was an overall great night. Would absolutely return to try a lot more of their fare.

Mexican + Seafood + Mimosas = my kind of brunch Despite the ridiculously cold weather, there was a bit of a wait but that was pretty much unavoidable at any restaurant given it was Valentine’s Day. We waited about 45 minutes before sitting down, but had a few drinks while waiting. So much good-looking food was passing us by, it made our group so hungry! Bacon guacamole and the most deliciously seasoned tortilla chips to start. We licked that bowl clean I think in under 5 minutes. I shared the Enchiladas with Duck Carnitas and the Baja Fish Taco with my boy while my friends got the Huevos Benedictos. Everything was so good! The enchiladas were super crispy and the duck was a great twist plus, anything with a fried egg on top is amazing. Loved the fish taco as well but I’m always down for fried fish, aioli, and avocado. Yum! Loved the drinks, food, and atmosphere! Great spot in South Boston that I can’t wait to come back to when I’m in town again.

Maybe I’m missing something? I’ve been hearing about Loco for FORRRREEEEVVVVVERRRRR and finally found the courage to drag myself to Southie.(I try my best to avoid ‘bro’ central.) The place was packed on a Saturday at 5:30. Solid sign for my beloved Mexican cuisine. We were seated at a high top near the bar. The line for the bar was 3 – 4 deep and people kept knocking into us, our table, or putting their empty beer bottles on our table. Ugh. The stools are also THEWORST. No one wants to sit on splinters. My friends and I ordered drinks and guac to start. The drinks were good. Not the best margaritas I’ve ever had, but were definitely strong. The guac was creamy and the portion size was actually pretty big — our group of 5 didn’t finish it. Chips were crazy salty and tasted like they had a bit of barbecue seasoning on them too. I had the Baja Fish Tacos for dinner and they were fine, even a bit salty. Maybe I’m just getting old but I don’t see what the big fuss is about this place aside from the strong drinks.

This place is awesome. It’s super popular(among locals especially), and after visiting for brunch I definitely knew why. The inside is really great and different — very open, all wood, and lights that make it feel really young, which is definitely the clientele they attract. The menu is really expansive, and offering raw bar items definitely differentiates them from other Mexican restaurants in the Boston area. Their raw oysters were great and so was the Tuna Ceviche. For our brunch items, we got the Huevos Benedictors and the Blackened Swordfish Tacos. Both were excellent. The only challenge about this place is finding parking! It’s so hard in Southie.
