I love this store in NYC and was glad it was opening here just in time for Christmas! I found the help nice and helpful and the stores lay out is nice. casual and hip. It is fun to browse through the leathers and new styles. A little pricey but the quality is there so it can be justified.

I was excited to hear John Varvatos opened his boutique in Boston before my trip. Copley Place is one of my shopping destinations every time when I am in Boston. I’ve been enjoying his pieces already so I was curious what he brought to the city. The main reason I am writing this is that hopefully one of their managers read this. It was Friday 10⁄11 afternoon. When I walked in the store it was empty. It has his rock n roll inspired look in very sophisticated way. They were also displaying b/w photography on the wall for sale. I was walking along the wall to see photos along with clothes and other accessories. In the middle of the store, I realized this guy(tall, dark haired Caucasian) was staring at me. He was obviously working there. But no hello or any words just staring at me. It got better when I accidentally walked behind the register. He looked angry and waving at me like I was a lost dog! At this point, I really wanted to walk out the store because there are other mans stores right in same building. But just before I walked out the store, another sales guy(African American — the reason I put their races is that I did not get their names.) who was nice. What a big difference in the same store. He was telling me about how fun was the opening party and what are new collections for this fall and winter. If I did not meet him, I would never go back to this location. I hope they train their sales team better to reach Mr. John Varvatos level. Please, no DB(douche bag) work here.

I just came for the free beer. I was graciously invited by my favorite shoe guy from Barney’s who is now the assistant manager at JVs. But damn, I’ll have to wait for the end of season sale. Actually, nothing really jumped out at me. I guess Boston has enough rich white dudes and trust fund rocker wannabes to support a boutique like this geared toward the 1% types, but they won’t be seeing any of my greenbacks for a while. It was kind of missing something… maybe like originality. I mean really, a plain white t-shirt for $ 120. I’ll pass, but when I do save up some paper, I’ll get one of his belts. And the eyewear kind of rocked too. Best thing about the store — the photographs that were for sale on the wall of all the classic rockers. I rather go for the variety at Barney’s and Saks and wait for the friend and family coupon. Damn, I wish Filene’s Basement was still around…
