Food is amazing but honestly the best part of this place was our waiter Josh. He’s literally the best waiter I have ever experienced. very kind, down to earth, made amazing conversation. just overall an incredible young man. Like I said, the food is good, but the service is way better! Two thumbs up!

Food was great! Had the tuna tar-tar and it was mouthwatering. The salmon was delicious as well. I like salmon but not a huge fan however you have to try this one! They have a bar and dining area. Kid friendly

One of my favorite places in this area of boston. The energy is always high, the staff is always moving and the food is always good. They have a great bartending staff complimented by a top tier beer selection. I had the cure burger last night and it was VERY good!

Food: the complimentary warm bread is delicious! I stopped by on a Thursday for lunch and decided to do the $ 13.95 lunch special, which includes an entrée(salmon, chicken club sandwich, steak, or burger), and two sides(polenta, fries, sweet potato fries as well as a choice between broccoli and some other veggies). The sweet potato fries were probably the best I’ve ever had. They had so much flavor I didn’t even feel the need to dip them in ketchup. The salmon was ok, but a bit undercooked. Service: The waiter was really friendly and was attentive. He made sure my drink was always filled and that I was happy with my meal.

We ended up at Joe’s because they had the Cardinals Game playing and we wanted to watch Big Red put the hurt on the Packers. I would have to compare this place to Applebee’s/Chili’s type restaurants except the prices are steeper and the atmosphere and décor are nicer. I’ll start with the Pros: –The complimentary bread was the best part of our meal, it was really good. –The clam chowder was made proper, and everyone agreed it tasted good. –Our waiter was friendly. –We were able to watch the Football Game Everything else about this place was a let down. Super pricey for mediocre food. My wife’s $ 11 house salad was just pulled from the bag: you know the type, iceberg with shredded carrots. I ordered a $ 14 Fried Chicken Sandwich. It was mediocre at best. Too much bread to chicken ratio, not enough sauce, and the skimp portion of french fries were also not appetizing at all. The $ 45 Surf and Turf special came with a tiny lobster tail and an even smaller steak. I did bump them up to 3 stars because we did enjoy ourselves, it was nice to be able to catch the Cards laying the hat to the Pack.

I came here for a last minute brunch. The atmosphere was nice and fun. Since we came here unplanned, we didn’t make any reservation. Lucky enough, there was no line so we didn’t have to wait. I’m not too sure if it’s because they were short staff or because they were busy,(even though the restaurant didn’t look quite too busy) but whatever it was, our server took way too long on everything. The food was good, but unfortunately my food came out cold and one of my friend’s chicken was under cooked. So I’m sure our food could’ve taste much better. I had ordered the buffalo chicken and waffle. The waffle was delicious, but again my chicken came out cold. Hopefully the next time if I do end up coming back, the food will be a little better and not cold.

I ate here last night with a friend. I honestly probably will never come here again. It wasn’t bad service, or an obnoxious environment, if anything, the staff and ambience are why I gave them two stars instead of one. The reason I won’t be back, is the food. I ordered the steak frites and a cup of their onion soup gratinee. The fries were average, nothing special about them, but they were cooked well, so that part was ok. The steak… bland. Skirt steak should taste like beef, and the chimichurri sauce should really accentuate that flavor. This steak tasted like it was cooked in a sous vide, unseasoned, and then quickly browned and chimichurri added. The worst skirt steak I’ve ever had. Their chimichurri sauce was ok, and would have gone nicely with a nice pan fried and seasoned piece of meat. The onion soup gratinee… Well, it looked great. Just like the picture in the menu. However, like the steak, it was bland. The beef stock had no flavor – it was watery and lacked salt. The dish has the word onion in it, but based on the number of onions in my cup, they should rename it to watery croûton soup with cheese, because that’s what it was. My friend, he’s a pig, ordered two dinners for himself, the shrimp ramen and their bbq platter. Both dishes visually looked great. He said the ramen was ok, but the bbq platter was not so good. I sampled the three meats the platter offered: the brisket was very dry, the ribs were fairly decent, nice flavor, and the chicken was nothing special, but they were ok. I also ordered a gimlet. I’m not certain the bartender knew what that was, even though it is a fairly standard drink. It was not only on the weak side, but he also used lemon juice instead of lime. Not the worst gimlet I’ve ever had, but usually the bar can be the saving grace to a mediocre restaurant, but not in this case.

We chose Joe’s American Bar and Grill for our wedding rehearsal dinner. We had a great, stress-free experience. Both the event wait staff and the events coordinator were very accommodating and flexible with the planning and execution of our event. We were able to tweak the menu to our liking, swap out a course here and there for allergies, and they were very flexible with allowing us to provide alcoholic beverages for our guests(they allowed us to do all that coordination real time/day of the event). Kasey, the private event coordinator, was great to work with. Our food was prepared well, served in a timely manner, and very tasty. All of our guests thoroughly enjoyed their dinners. We chose a menu that was approx. $ 40−50pp(one of the most affordable options for a private dinner in downtown Boston) and we thought the amount of food was just right. Not too much where people were leaving full and bloated and not too little where people were leaving unsatisfied. I would highly recommend the Wine Room at Joe’s for a rehearsal dinner for approx. 20 – 25 people.

Can’t go wrong with the nachos here– add chili for the best bar nachos, hands down. They add queso and pico and guacamole and a variety of cheeses. They used to have thinner chips which crisped nicely, but I think the ones I got recently are store bought(yuck). Still, the nachos, burger, fries and even new items(pork slider?) are all fabulous when getting together with friends.

One of the bartenders(I wish I knew his name) is a prick. He’s tall and skinny, and has dark brown hair that’s cut like young«Baby”-era Justin Bieber. Other than that, the rest of my first experience here has been decent. I came in a group of five. We waited at the bar for about 20 minutes for our table, which isn’t bad at all. Beers on draft range from $ 6.50-$ 7.50. A well whiskey sour is $ 8.50, which I did not end up ordering because I’d rather use that extra dollar on my laundry instead. They have Left Hand Milk Stout Nitro on draft, which I highly recommend. My roommate and I ended up splitting the buffalo chicken tenders. The portion is a lot smaller than expected and I am disappointed by that but they are tasty! You can get it with regular buffalo sauce or honey buffalo sauce. We got half and half. I recommend doing that. Both sauces are satisfying. Other people in my group got some kind of burger, the kale and something salad with a side of fries, and nachos. They all seemed satisfied with their orders as well. Aside from the snooty bartender, service is pretty good. Hostesses are super approachable and likewise with our waiter. Prices are a bit too high for me though. I would be back but I’m definitely not in a rush. I would come back again if a friend wanted to check it out or if I’m out celebrating something with a group of people.

We had a group of 8 at Joe’s. To start we had about 7 appetizers that included the BBQ, Chicken tenders, calamari, spinach dip, Tuna Tar Tar and Meatballs. I thought the tuna tar tar, calamari & spinach dip was good. The BBQ, Chicken Tenders and Meatballs were very ok, maybe ordinary would best describe it. Other had a additional food and including burgers that looked good.

After being caught in a thunderstorm, we ended up at Joe’s. When you first enter, there is a bar on street level. The restaurant is located down the stairs. Their menu consists of pretty standard American food… burgers, sandwiches, steaks, seafood, and pasta. I had the Chicken Club Sandwich — sliced chicken, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and mayo on a multigrain bread. Good sized sandwich, and served with fries. I took a bite of the Braised Prime Pork Sandwich, which included slowly braised prime pork on a soft ciabatta with demi glaze. This sandwich was ok, but I definitely liked my sandwich more out of the two. The food was alright, but it’s nice that they’re open late!

Came here with a group of friends on a visit to Boston, on the recommendation from the Bostonian in the group. We only had to wait about 25 minutes on Friday night, which wasn’t too bad. The bread basket is just one big hunk of bread, and it is super yummy! Warm and toasty. We got nachos to start, which were pretty standard. I ordered the ahi tuna salad with herb vinaigrette, as did a couple others at the table. The salads all arrived dressed with some sort of creamy dressing(clearly not vinaigrette)…which was a little odd. The ahi was pretty good, nothing too special. Friend ordered jambalaya which he was very happy with(sausage to rice ratio was on point). This is not a cheap place, but the portions are quite large. Probably wouldn’t come back here again.

Ah I’m so in between a 2 and a 3… it’s honestly not great food. The ambiance is pretty standard, but its a great spot for people watching on Newbury St. Not much to say other than that. It’s just ehh.

I’m a HUGE fan of this place and I will usually be the first one to suggest Joe’s whenever looking for a brunch spot in the Back Bay. It’s easy, hassle free, and cheap! I’ve only come here on the weekends for brunch, so I can’t comment on other times of the day. I first came with a big corporate group for brunch and loved that they had a prix fixe menu for us. We had completed a long walk so we were all starving and ready to chow down. The food did not disappoint then, nor did it disappoint when I came back another time with a couple of friends. I highly recommend the buffalo chicken & waffle. Seriously so good.

Went for brunch with friends and was content with the bread, a staple. Having seen banana chocolate chip pancakes on the menu, I was excited and decided to deviate from my norm of eggs in the mornings these days. What a dissapoinment. The chips weren’t even in and very limited supply and the pancakes had no fluff or favor. Would definitely not come back again if I did not know that the other dishes were superb. Hoping it was a fluke.

I definitely enjoyed the food here more than I expected to! I thought it would be typical American food — wings, burgers, the normal not-so-grand type, but I was totally wrong! While these menus were still on the item, they had a special touch them! I especially enjoyed the turkey burger with sweet potato fries! It was just done so well and was so tasty! They also offered us a window seat when we requested one! My mom and I also wanted to share the two dishes and they kindly put it on separate plates for us! The minus one star is only because I told them I did not want tomatoes in my burger, but they put them in anyway. If I weren’t so repulsed by tomatoes, this place definitely would have received five stars!

Had breakfast here recently and wouldn’t recommend it as a morning place — looks like they open early three days a week. It’s hard to find a hot breakfast in the Copley Square area, at least we found it tough. My Eggs Florentine were cold, including the english muffin and the side of potatoes. They did remove the dish from the bill, which was very nice. Can’t even remember what my husband had but it was equally unimpressive, with the same cooked the day before and not heated up well potatoes. Later in the day when the kitchen is cranking and people are getting their drink on while shopping on Newbury Street, I imagine that sitting outside is lots of fun in nice weather, so I’d go back for that…

One star only because the waitress was nice. We came in for breakfast. Waited over 30 minutes to get eggs, hash browns, sausage and toast. Everything, yes everything was cold. How do you screw up breakfast this bad. I inhaled my Luke warm eggs and left the rest. I am so unhappy I am writing this review with a cold ass plate of food in front of me(see pic). Never again… avoid for breakfast.

My food was absolutely amazing and the waiter was nice and gave great feedback when I asked about different options on the menu. I had their special for the night which included — BBQ shrimp and sautéed spinach(appetizer) — Seafood platter with salmon, scallops, ½ of lobster, and mussels with lobster broth. — Butterscotch pudding with vanilla ice cream I had a food allergy and the chef was more than accommodating to alter the recipe so that I could still order the special. He even brought my meal to me just to ensure me that both my appetizer and meal were dairy free per my request which I thought was extremely nice. I would definitely go back.

Me encantó este típico restaurante americano en Boston: está en una zona muy animada, el sitio es grande, espacioso y muy bonito, no me pareció turístico y la comida excelente. También muy buen servicio. Recomiendo el Tartar de Atún, Qué bueeeno!
