This place was amazing! The Italian sub was the best I’d ever had! The quantity of meat and lettuce and dressing was generous and perfect. I can’t believe it closed! I did notice the quality of service decline and the wait times expand… Must be that, because they could make a stellar sub! Sad day. The

Great food! First time here and I would definitely come back. I wanna try all there other subs. I had the«New York Steamer Sub» and it was amazing. I noticed that they pickle their own corned beef in house and cook the pastrami in house as well! The staff was very pleasant and helpful when told it was my first time there. I would recommend this place. Great food and great value.

Firehouse does not have a big problem with their subs. They generally taste good, but they are a bit lacking in flavor. I enjoy the quantity of meat, but most of their subs focus on meat, lots of sweet dressing and bread. The real issue I have with firehouse is the staff. I’ve waited long periods of time here(including work colleagues that have waited seemingly forever). In one instance, a colleague reminded the staff that there was no chicken in his salad. The staff took a few seconds to look and said, «Oh, no it’s there. See?» I’d venture to say that if you have to search for the main part of the salad, you’re probably not getting the best quality salad. I will still come here when I’m not in a hurry, but it could be better.

I got the Italian sub and it was good. There are multiple add ons that you can select from. I got cherry peppers and banana peppers. The sub was nicely toasted. If you like hot sauce they have a great selection as well, ranging from mild to super spicy(1 to 10). The bottles all have numbers on them. Will be back again.

Upgrading from 4 to 5 stars. Sometimes I order a sub without one of the ingredients like pastrami and they always ask if they can substitute something else in, which is great.

For a chain, they have some of the best subs I’ve eaten. No matter when I go here, early afternoon or late evening, the staff is always polite and offering opinions and recommendations. The Hook & Ladder is amazing! The only complaint I have is the length of time it takes to receive your food at lunch time. Maybe more staff at peak hours would help move orders quicker. Otherwise, definitely grab food here!

This place is actually very good. They have a vegetarian sub that’s not on the menu(how come Firehouse Subs?) but it was tasty. I got it without cheese(not sure if it came with cheese by default). I got the regular sized sub, which was a bit on the small side, but I’m a huge pig so for me I need 3 pounds of food to feel full. Hence I’m on a diet now and so I can’t eat here right now. Sad Face. The people here are very friendly. I feel sad when I see this place empty. However, after the gym I will come in here and buy a soda so I can get Diet Strawberry Fanta from the magical Coke Freestyle Machine!

I’ve never been so abruptly and rudely told leave a restaurant. I walked in for my first go with Firehouse at 8:55, 5 mins before close. Now I’ve worked in a restaurant too, I didn’t like the people like me. But then again, I never, ever whined as the manager behind the counter proceeded to. On and on about wait time, equipment shut downs, and of course the closing time. I bet the food is good. But I didn’t experience. The 2-star rating is because it smelled good inside.

All the subs here are great. Whenever I visit Boston, I always get the meatball sub.

Very meh. Got a medium Turkey, Bacon, and Ranch combo. The wait wasn’t too long and someone brings the food over to you. The sandwich was small and bland. Honestly, I’d rather go to Subways. One thing I liked was how they did their donations. They round up to the nearest dollar, so I would personally be more inclined to donate.

Stopped in with about 15 people after a competition nearby. Everyone had a sub ready in 10mins. We hung out for a while waiting for the next event to start and didn’t feel unwelcome. I had the BBQ brisket sub called the fire house I believe. It was good, lots of meat good sauce and cheese. Overall this was a very satisfactory experience. Not the best sub I ever had but very enjoyable and they accommodated my large group.

Firehouse Subs food gets 5-stars, but the Boylston location gets 3-stars. Put that together, and we have a place that I will regularly go to for the great subs, but suck it up for the next 30 minutes that I am in there. Firehouse has great subs. Some of the best around, especially for a chain. They even have a fancy soda dispenser with every possible flavor of Coke you want, for you soda drinkers. I like that they have fresh brewed sweet iced tea, that I have to cut with the unsweetened. My kind of place. However, I have been to much nicer Firehouse Subs locations than this one. It’s not bad, but it doesn’t live up to the high standards of every other location I have been to, probably because of the volume of people that come through. I have been a few times during lunch, and none of the tables are cleaned off, most tables I have sit at are wobbly, and on one cold day over half the restaurant froze every time someone opened the door. Sometimes there are coupons in the paper, and checking in on Unilocal gave me a free drink! Even though the cashier had no idea what a Unilocal check in was and had to ask a manager. I will definitely be back.

I ordered a catered lunch special for my office, and I must say it was not what I expected. The service was just okay. I was put on hold several times and when I finally got on the phone with a person they just put me on hold again. I picked up my order because it’s just near my job, however when I got back I discovered it was incomplete. I asked if every ones’ bag could be labeled and that was not done, so it was a disaster to open up each sandwich to peek and see what it was… imagine doing this for a 20 plus office crew! I ordered the Italian sub on wheat, by the time I got the sandwich it was soggy the bread wasn’t tasted well at all. There was more baked ham on that sub than anything else. There are little sandwich shops in Dorchester and Roxbury that does a 100% BETTER! I won’t order from this place again, its not worth it.

I’ll be honest I never even knew this place existed before visiting Boston. I visited not expecting much and left wishing they had one of these in my town. I had the Smokehouse Beef and Cheddar Brisket and it was amazing. Prepared right in front of me I knew exactly what was going into it and the staff were some of the friendliest I’ve ever experienced.

A lot better than Subway or Quiznos. One in the New York area would be nice. I tried the meatball sub with chips and a drink. Came up to around $ 9 which is average. Staff was cool and friendly. I enjoyed the firehouse theme too!

These are so much fresher than other sub places! I had the meatball and couldn’t get enough. The spicy was the way to go. My husband had the bacon ranch chicken sub and he loved it. There was definitely some silence at the table while we were eating. We will definitely be back!

COMETONY! Please! This place would put Subway out of business! Their sandwiches are AMAZING! We had the veggie sandwich without the mayo and it was incredible — 3 types of cheese and mustard. The girls had a meatball hero which was yum. The service was great and love all the sodas!!!

I have worked in Back Bay for years, and have grown very tired of the lunch scene. Our office is on Newbury, and everyone always says«You must have so many great lunch options!» Not true, unless your idea of a good lunch is an expensive sit down meal. Not for me. Now! I am proud to say that the lunch scene has greatly improved thanks to Firehouse Subs! It’s a great affordable option to the neighborhood, fast and GOOD! Now, i’m not a big ham guy, so I was surprised to find that the Hook and Ladder was my favorite! Fully involved is the way to go, but I usually ask for light on the mayo(but I do that everywhere). Also, keep an eye out for monthly special sandwiches, they are money!

Awww man, the BBQ pulled pork sandwich with a fricken hawaiian kings roll = AMAZING! My child hood is all about hawaiian king rolls. I’m pretty sure it is not that prevalent here in Boston so it is a must try for those who have not had it! The other cool thing about this place is the soda machine. I believe it has something like over 34 choices. The cool thing is that its touch screen. You firstly start off with the brand or type of soda(ex coke) and then get sub choices such as cherry coke, regular coke, vanilla coke, etc, etc. SOEXCITING ahahah. Honestly though, the décor is not what I though it would be. But hey you can’t win everything.
