Love this place. I have eaten here, take out and delivery. Had a big group of people with me a few weeks ago and they accommodated all 8 of us. Service was fast, food was excellent and prices were very reasonable for the high quality sushi they serve. I personally like the Fancy Sake Don, you won’t regret it if you like Salmon.

Not bad sushi and the service was fine but really it was all nothing special. What bugs me, and warrants 2 vs. 3 stars, is that they are already a little overpriced for the quality to start yet the waitress asked me if I want another Diet Coke and, when the bill comes, they charged for two. They were pretty small, maybe a 12oz can’s worth at most, and to charge $ 2 each and not tell the customer that there are not free refills is kind of lame. I’m sure some people will see their side which is fine, and $ 2 is not a big deal, but frankly there are plenty of better sushi spots in that area to go to and the majority of restaurants in their price range(and many below it) do free refills. That is something they might want to change.

My dining companion recommended Fin’s Sushi and Grill on the Boston Common. She felt it served as a convenient meeting place between Cambridge and Brookline. I was initially confused by her directions because this venue used to be named Bento. The new owners even retained the quasi Marimekko décor. As my friends well know, I tend to prefer Japanese home cooked meals as opposed to restaurant sushi. Don’t get me wrong. I appreciate good sushi as much as the average diner. It’s just that the availability of sushi grade fish in supermarkets means that one can roll his or her own. A restaurant has to go above and beyond what I can make myself. Let’s be honest. Isn’t that the litmus test for most restaurants? I think that the raw fish element makes US diners lower their expectations. They are scared of raw fish the same way I am intimidated by my oven’s broiler. Anyway, it’s worth noting that my culinary skills are nothing to write home about. I still wouldn’t recommend this venue. What was wrong? The fish and ginger did not seem fresh; the sushi was fishy in a bad way. Finally, they failed to season the rice appropriately.

If you’re ordering takeout just know that the miso soup will taste like plastic, and the spring rolls will be bland and tiny as heck. The sushi is alright, but not great.

Not impressed. Felt gross 2 times already after eating from here, which only happens when I eat something that hasn’t been cooked right. The service is fast, but I prefer they take the time not reheating food.

Our small group enjoyed a wide variety of sushi and rolls, all which were prepared with fresh and tasty ingredients. The Chasu Miso Ramen is excellent and large enough for a meal or for 2 – 3 to share. The Christmas Maki Roll and Maine Lobster Roll are wonderful and beautifully presented. The edamame is good, but be sure to ask for no salt or very lightly salted. There is a decent selection of sake, beers and wines. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the restaurant is relaxed and clean. The location is close to many playhouses and theaters, so it’s ideal for either a pre-show or after show bite to eat.

Ordered some seafood noodles… yup. that’s what they were called. Took a gamble and figured it would be interesting. Sure enough. Noodles with random seafood appeared on the table. A big bowl of hot water, seafood and thick noodles! Hit the spot. Got a little bit of sushi to tide me over as well. A bit pricey, but otherwise great!

They staff is very nice! They read you your order to make sure everything is correct. The food is average. They price is good. It’s right across the street from the Boston commons. Clean inside and you get to watch the craziness outside in peace with no bums asking you for money :-)

I walk past this place every day and I finally decided to see what was inside. I ordered online and they were very prompt to call me and tell me they had received my order and it would be ready in 15 minutes. When I went to pick it up, everyone there was so friendly. I ordered the Philadelphia roll and crab stick. The crab stick was a little hard to eat just given it’s size but it was worth the struggle. 2 crab sticks came with the order. The Philadelphia roll(6 pieces) was absolutely delicious– the salmon was fresh and so was the cream cheese. I’ll definitely be going back!

Having been to the other Fin’s, this one just does not cut it. I came for lunch and it was quiet. Service could have been better since there were not very many other tables. I got the beef with onion bento box. Just ‘meh.’

Chirashi(~$ 15): Nice variety of fish, though heavy on the tuna(which is sadly my least favorite). Fish tasted fresh both in flavor and texture. Rice was warm and seasoned with just the right balance(in my opinion) of a little more sweet than sour. The tamago was probably the weakest part of the chirashi even though I usually love tamago(sweet egg) – it was very bland. It came with a below average bowl of miso soup. Overall, a satisfying dinner but it doesn’t really inspire a passionate review or leave me eagerly awaiting my next visit but I might wander back in from time to time.

I came here last night for dinner with friends and it was great. I had the sashimi salad with salmon and the fish was great, so fresh, I just wish there was more! I also had the edamame and it was delicious. Can’t go wrong with edamame. The service was also great; the waitress was very attentive; she must have filled up my glass of water at least 6 or 7 times. The food came quick and everything was very enjoyable. Prices are reasonable. Will definitely come here again.

If I could give 2.5 stars I would, but I just didn’t want to give a full 3 implying it’s somehow better than average. Fin’s(in Boston) is the definition of average. I haven’t had anything besides sushi and fried rice there but the fried rice was very oily and somewhat on the clumpy side so I wasn’t impressed. Ordering the sushi was a big mistake. I mean seriously I don’t know how I made that mistake when Avana Sushi, Genki Ya and countless other better sushi places live a block away in either direction. I’ll chalk it up to late night delirium. Anyway, the sushi was below average(especially given the neighborhood) so go elsewhere for your fix. This was disappointing because I used to live by the Fin’s in Brookline(granted it was 5 years ago) and remember being impressed by the food so either quality has dropped or my tastes have improved. Either way this is a no-go for now.

I came here for a weekend lunch, and enjoyed the window seating. Fin Sushi & Grill is right near the corner of Tremont/Boylston, which makes for great people watching. I ordered an udon soup. The presentation was lovely and the portion was more than generous. The vegetables(broccoli, bok chou) were fresh and the udon was great, but the broth was a bit bland. They did provide a spicy powder to top the soup off with. The waitress Mai was very nice and offered me a fork instead of chopsticks. Service was very prompt and courteous!

NOT A BAD place. Just not super stellar either. Had their version of a caterpillar roll, and a snow.(something) roll. Everything was quick on time. I can’t talk about how fresh the items were, both my rolls were ‘cooked’(warmed in some way) I don’t regret it, but I probably wouldn’t be back. –mainly just to explore the rest of the areas sushi.

I really do not understand the horrific reviews of this place. I just met a girlfriend for dinner and we had a great time! The space is small, but doesn’t feel cramped, which I was grateful for. There are tables for various-sized parties and then single seats at both the sushi bar and a bar at the window overlooking Boylston street. Between the two of us, we had three rolls, a bowl of edamame, two drinks. With a 20% tip, we were looking at about $ 23 each. That’s not unreasonable considering the atmosphere of the place and the quality of the fish. Our Caterpillar, Scorpion, and Spider Maki were all very fresh and flavorful — nothing was drowning in sauce. Plus, the edamame was warm and well-salted. Also, as a side note, our waitress was a star. She checked in on us often, but gave us time to chat and catch up before we ordered. Luckily it was a slow night, but it was still nice that she didn’t hound us. She was incredibly friendly and really made for an enjoyable experience. We both remarked that we’ll be back!

Series of questions you should ask yourself before entering this establishment: Quality or quantity? Do you want a second date? Do you care at all about food? Agedashi tofu-the sauce tastes like diluted soy sauce, eat the tofu only Takoyaki-you can skip this Sushi pizza-decent Beef don-you get so much rice you won’t eat rice any more. Served to you in a dog bowl. Yoshinoya chain quality at best. Kimchi seafood ramen– giant bowl filled with 95% egg noodles that has no flavor. comes with some mystery overcooked fish with a stench. Broth is weird. Kimchi tastes like soggy cabbage. Chasui ramen– salty. salty. salty. Eel ramen– I guess it’s okay or maybe my friend was too hungry to care. I wish him the best. Oh yeah came in with party of four and they add 18% gratuity to the bill. That’s fine I never tip under 20% even if we got zero service. Brought our food and never got water. This is sorta like service you get at Burger King. My regret is that I didn’t walk another 3 minute to Chinatown but decided to give this place a chance.
