Finally a place with legit dartboards! Bring your own darts, and please take care of these boards. What about the rest of the bar? It’s a dive that only takes cash. I was only there during the day, and it wasn’t crowded or loud.

This is definitely a no frills kind of place, and that’s ok! Glad we got to try the Downeast Cider here, I really wish I could get it back home. I’d highly recommend you try it if you’re into ciders. It was so fresh and real & natural tasting. Amazeballs. The bartender seemed busy talking to his friends at the other end of the bar, so it would’ve been nice if he did his job a little better, but I’m still glad we stopped and had a low key place to kill a little time.

This is my favourite dive bar in Boston. Affordable beer, youthful bunch, a-holes, pub games and strange odors all add up to something specific in a town where this kind of matter is occasionally lacking.

A no frills place to sit back and throw down some cheap pints at this storied local pub. Crowd is usually 20’s and young 30’s so bring your friends and make sure you have cash at this cash only place that does not care if you judge it. Bring your buck hunter and basketball skills too as you will inevitably find yourself in the backbar challenging your friends to the arcade games once the third pint sets it.

A cool dive bar with cheap drinks, arcade games, and near main tourist attractions. Honestly you won’t find a spot like this more centrally located in the heart of Boston. Staff is pretty friendly too.

As an out-of-towner, I ducked into this place after a trip to see the Charles River(it’s right across the street) with no previous knowledge of what it entailed — my boyfriend and I literally went into the first place we saw that served drinks. This had a classic dive-y feel to it(though a little forgettable — it was basically the same as every single other dive bar I’ve ever been to) and was pretty crowded around 4pm on a Saturday. The drinks were reasonably priced, and they served one of the best(and strongest) ciders I’ve ever tasted… I wish I’d gotten the name!

Used to live two blocks away, was one of my watering holes. Came in tonight for a drink, the bartenders and bouncers were all pretty hot. If you’re used to the Boston ways and attitude the locals have then you’ll love this place. The accent and the profanity start to sound like music to your ears when you step in a place like this, it feels like home. Definitely college town bar feel to it, cheap drinks, bring your own food, leave your shitty attitude out the door, you’ll have a blast.

Place sucks, rude people, rude bartender. This was our first time in Boston and I was looking forward to visiting the cool pubs in town, this place killed it. The bartender was counting money and stuffing his face at the same time using the same hand he was counting money, so unsanitary! We waited forever to order a drink.

I went to this bar last night with a group of people. It’s definitely quite the dive bar. Everyone was definitely enjoying themselves and living it up. All in all my group had fun but there were some things that just were not so great. The ladies bathroom is tiny. There is one stall. By the end of the night there was puke all over this bathroom. It was pretty gross. It’s a cash bar. It was a bit crowded so I felt a bit squished most of the night. I think this is a great spot for college students.

Yuck. Dank, full of 20-sometings in ties and sport coats all packed around a bar with ONE server. No thanks.

A little grungy. Decent selection of draft beers, prices were meh. Overall, I’d probably go back if I was craving the loud, drunken college experience again. The guys had fun with the arcade games though, maybe next time I should give them a try

$ 4 vodka? Check! Stumbled into Beacon Hill Pub during a weekend stay in Boston. We were looking for a rooftop or outdoor bar in the Seaport District but apparently everyone else in Boston was too because there were lines wrapped around each spot we could find. We eventually gave up and decided to snag barstools at a pub near our Air BNB. Cash only. Bartenders who don’t smile. Frattastic to an exponential degree– reminded me of my college days which can always be fun, if you’re in the right mood.

With the exception of the glorious birthday I had at the Jelly Belly factory as a still-plump child and the incredible treat that came with ringing in 23 with a laser tag birthday and having the 8 year olds sharing the playing arena gang up on me, pushing my score into the negative quadruple digits, I would say that birthday parties are not really my jam — the attention makes me uncomfy and I don’t like cake… sooooo…basically I am a nightmare to plan for — that said, one of my most precious pals was recently like«stop being a dick abt your birthday, if ppl want to tell you that they love you, let them» — and as I’m trying to be better abt all that stuff, I somehow ended up ringing in 29 at BHP — as I had requested a dive bar where we could get weird, it was perfect. Prior to last night, I def thought this place was abandoned as the windows are all painted over and the sign is barely noticeable — when we arrived around 830p on a Sat it was still pretty dead, though as the oldies migrated into heavy metal, and then blessedly settled on TSwift, it got popping — by 10p the grizzled alcoholics had cleared out and there was a steady crowd of frat-types reminiscing abt golf or windsurfing or whale pants or whatever — but also lots of real ppl — crowd was friendly, approachably 6.5−8:10 attractive, though I’m not sure I’d recommend cruising here unless you are under 25 as things could get real dicey real fast once you discover you graduated high school the same year(s)he learned how to dress him/herself. Bartenders are friendly enough and have the requisite skills of knowing how to pour a beer(which, interestingly, is something I neveeeer really nailed working at Punch’s, thanks Swells) and making my standard bourbon + splash of soda water, so I have zero complaints. Cash only, actually. That is my complaint. But overall — low key — check your expectations for shot girls, glow sticks, and blowing lines off someone in the bathroom at the door(note to self — find that place for 30th) — it’s just a regular, reasonable spot to imbibe without pretension.

5 stars because yesterday your bartender accused me of having a fake ID. I’ll be 31 this month. Thanks for the laugh! An apology might’ve been nice though.

Don’t waste ur time. After double checking my Id with«manager» Mary, I was still refused a drink. Obviously overwhelmed by a larger than usual crowd, Mary informed me that they were no longer serving people my my age. I’m 23 and have a hard time understanding why they were so insulted by my business. Will not return or recommend. Since beacon hill pub has no phone number, feel free to call me at 4014505102 with any questions or concerns.

SO bro-y and SO fun. Cash only. Don’t try to order red wine otherwise people will make fun of you. They have the basketball arcade game in the back, but one of the hoops is always broken which is aggravating — taking off a star for that.(Please fix it!!)

I do not usually write reviews but I feel obligated to complain about the outstandingly rude staff. A guy at the bar offered to buy my girlfriends and I a drink. He must have not been from the area because he did not realize it was cash only, and proceeded to walk away. The bartender hardly asked my friends and I if we could pay for the drinks(which one of my friends in the meantime went to the ATM to get cash to pay for them) and next thing we knew we were getting asked to leave without explanation. I’ve been to BHP many times but after this happened I will be seeking out other dive bars in the area.

Worst bar I’ve ever been to. The female bartender who worked Saturday night is a miserable degenerate who had a power trip and kicked me out for being a «bitch.» Was also extremely uncool that she used racist slurs about my Jamaican friend thinking we couldn’t hear her, either. Absolutely classless. I recommend staying away!

Total dive, but I’m a super fan of the basketball arcade game here, however one side was broken. For cider drinkers, they had 4 to choose from: angry orchard on tap, magners, magners pear, and I can’t remember the last one. Since I don’t drink beer, I really appreciated the selection. If you like dive bars, this is where to go!

I’m a big fan. My wife and I were visiting from out of town and heard this was a great place to check out for a kind of divey watering hole sort of place. It definitely is that. We stopped in around 5pm on a Friday and were among the only handful of folks in the bar as the place tends to get packed later in the night. Nevertheless, we loved the atmosphere and the bartenders and fellow patrons were great. This is the kind of place I could spend a lot of time just getting comfortable and enjoying some drinks and good company. Its in a really cool part of town too as Charles Street appears to be a little commercial strip of shops and bars in the Beacon Hill neighborhood. Definitely check this place out if you like dive bars or dark watering holes where you can hide from the light of day with a shot of Jameson and draft beer.

I liked it, especially because apparently everyone leaves town for the 4th of July! No complaints here, as I’m not a fan of ridiculously packed bars. I’m sure it’s a fun place either way, but it was nice to just kind of … chill and have such easy access to the bar and games. Bartenders were great: friendly and one chatted with my friend and I when we asked about games. If I’m ever back in the area I’d love to check this place out and see what the typical crowd is like!

Was there the other night and it was exactly what I wanted. It’s the dive bar of dive bars conveniently located on Charles st. Cheap drinks, friendly service. Just be sure to always have cash on you as they do not accept credit cards. There are also arcade games if that’s what you are into. Hope to get back there on a weekend as it has always been a great spot to meet up with friends!

C’mon Boston, I know you can do better than this! It’s a dive, and there were some other options around that are a bit better. It’s loud and dirty just like a dive should be. And cash only, which we didn’t know until we went to pay. Lots of college kids drinking their PBR!
