I love my voice lessons with Amy! She is a skilled, fun, funny teacher. Her practice is thoughtful, and her approach is rigorous, without being overly-demanding. She is a delightful instructor for anyone looking to improve their vocal ability, poise, or confidence while performing.

Voice lessons with Amy have been life-changing! No exaggeration. Above and beyond being incredibly talented and extensively trained, Amy seems to meet all her students right where they are and help them to achieve their individual goals. She gives both constructive criticism to help you improve, as well as lots of praise and encouragement to keep you inspired and motivated. I went to Amy to start singing for the first time since middle school, and because I’d always thought it would be fun(though scary) to audition for a community theatre musical. She’s been amazing at getting me back into my voice as well as preparing me for any auditions I decided to take on. Since starting lessons with Amy less than a year ago, I have already completed one musical and am now a principal in one going up next weekend! What I think is especially great about Amy though, is that she is very attentive to each student’s needs and goals. Through recitals and monthly group performances which we get the opportunity to participate in as her students, I’ve met a lot of other students of Amy’s who are singing for very different reasons, but who are all really happy and getting exactly what they want from the experience. If you have even a slight inclination to take a voice lesson, run — don’t walk — to get one with Amy Dancz!

After having many different teachers over the years, I can honestly say that Amy is an exceptional vocal instructor. Yes she is classically trained but do not let that scare you away… she will teach you any style you are interested in learning. Amy has the ability to really pinpoint technical flaws and EXPLAIN to you in words that you can understand how to go about correcting these flaws. Any exercise she asks you to try has a specific purpose and she can tell you the reasoning behind it. She is also extremely encouraging and is great at helping you choose repertoire that fits your current ability and will help you to grow. She will be honest with you if a piece is a reach for you at the time. Overall, my experience with Amy has been wonderful and I would recommend her to anyone no matter what your age or ability is.

Amy is amazing. I have been studying with Amy for two years and I’m so glad I found her. She is an extremely flexible, competent, positive, and high-energy person and always brightens my day. It doesn’t take her long to figure out problem areas in technique and begin the process for change. I’ve been steadily improving the whole time I’ve been studying with her and am constantly surprised each time I do a little better or have an epiphany about something I’ve been trying to achieve for a while. Amy is a natural teacher and knows a number of tricks and explanations to help clarify concepts and can very easily switch approaches if she thinks something else will work better. She knows a broad repertoire of music and is great at recommending songs that fit my voice and my skill level. Amy is patient and is willing to set the pace as fast or as slow as you need to feel comfortable with a piece. Amy makes it easy to relax and not feel self-conscious. Lessons are fun, but also expect to work hard. If you want an extra challenge and an extra opportunity to sing and get feedback, you can attend a month Studio Class where you and five others perform pieces for the group and workshop them. Overall, I’ve had nothing but good experiences singing with Amy.

I first came to Amy because I was in a band but was very self-conscious about my singing. Within a short period of time, I noticed a great improvement in not only the quality of my voice, but an extension of my vocal range that I thought was never possible. Amy has a way of pinpointing exactly what issues you’re having and working with you to fix them. Along with that, she’s a very positive person and encourages you constantly. Needless to say, I’d recommend her to anyone and I’m excited to continue taking lessons with her!

I have been taking lessons with Amy for about a year, she has an amazing passion for singing and teaching and she is excellent at it. She is knowledgeable, she understands the physiology of singing and explains it well and she has an amazing ear. I highly recommend her to anyone searching for a teacher.

I have been studying voice for a bit, but when I start singing for a new teacher, I usually get nervous. What if they’re the most horrible person in the world? What if they hate my voice? What if they vomit on my shoes? Amy had none of those reactions, nor qualities. The mood of my lesson was akin to singing for a close friend of mine with whom I’ve known for years. She enabled me to be calm and comfortable in the space. After my initial sing-through, she slowly began introducing both artistic aspects of the song, along with technical issues that we would both be able to work on together. She was very comfortable in the role of a teacher; she has the are of an experience professional, but still has the joy and ease of someone still excited about improving her music skills, and those skills of her students. I highly recommend her for all levels of singers. Her language skills are fantastic [I believe she speaks fluent French and German] and she has tons of tricks of the trade that I would never have been introduced to if I hadn’t taken that first lesson with her. Take a lesson with her and you’ll understand why her studio is always busy!
