This place is now closed! Food cold, bad service, horchata was flavorless and nothing good to say.

Bolingbrook has quite a few taquerias but I think this place has the best carne asada tacos of the lot. Both the red and green salsas are tasty with a decent kick of chiles.

Rating the bare minimum here because thats what i ended up with on my plate… first of all why do i need a waitress at this place??? is there a reason i cant ask for a taco, torta or burrito all by myself? What the hells that waitress going to do for me that i can’t do in a taco express like this place? i don’t need to leave a tip to someone for bringing me over my chips and plate… stick a soda fountain there and ill get my own drink… so i ordered a chicken torta and my friend had a steak burrito… recommended by someone on one of the reviews who has no taste obviously… i was starving… what came to my table just made me sit back and shake my head… knew i shouldnt of came here i said… they gave me a torta that taco bell would of had more meat on one of their tacos… no im not lying either… hey chef… I NEVEREVENTASTEDTHECHICKEN you put on my torta! i looked across the table at a «burrito» that was half the size of any other i’ve ever ordered anywhere… i asked how the steak was and he said it’s more like shredded beef than steak… figures…dont you owners get it… all we want when we go to these taco joints is alot of food… roll it up in a tortilla… and thats it! thats all you have to do… even if the food sucks we cant tell because its all rolled together… but yet allllll the taco places in the suburbs seem to not be able to get it right… because you’re cheap and skimping us… and you know people will still come because when you’re drunk or its late… there’s nothing else… theres no way this place is going to stay open… even in bolingbrook… full of the only kind of people that would even THINK this food is good… yes bolingbrooks a dump and everyone knows it… zaca tacos charges 4.50 for torta’s that should be sold for quarters by the dozen… read my review and if you still choose to go get bamboozled… you’ll be sitting there sayin that guy on Unilocal was exactly right… review DONE.

I’ve had their potato tacos as well as their taco salad, and it was delicious! After ordering the food, the wait for them to make my meal was like 20 minutes. It was a busy Friday night, but management should realize that they need to consider hiring more cooks. Overall great food, but horrible wait time.

I’m giving Zacatacos in Bolingbrook(1) star because the food was surprisingly subpar. I ordered the«carne asada» plate and what I received was chopped steak(low quality) resembling the quality of meat that is used in there tacos. I would have passed this off if the meat was good. Needless to say, the whole dinner was a disappointment. My fiancée ordered a variety of tacos(lengua, pastor and steak). This was a disappointment as well. The salsas are bland which is a big«No-No» for taco joints with a reputation to hold. This Zacatacos location does not come close to the quality and taste of other locations. Save your money, time and go elsewhere.

Best steak tacos ever! But you have to get the authentic tacos, the one that just comes with cilantro and onion on a corn tortilla, not the cheese, lettuce, tomato version you get at Taco Bell. Although, maybe those are good here too. I’ll never now, because I always get the steak tacos which are amazing! Well, except for the one time I got flautas, which were decent. This is a good place, but there are some hits and misses on the menu. My wife has had the enchiladas and she was not impressed, not much flavor with the chicken. But she liked the burritos. The guacamole here leaves a lot to be desired, all I could taste was the onions. But I will always return for the steak, cilantro and onion tacos, and that is what rates this place 4 stars for me.(Decent price point. The restaurant itself is clean, if not a little spartan, if you’re wondering. But you’re not coming here for the ambiance, you’re coming for the freakin best steak taco in Bolingbrook!)

I freaking love this place! The initial rough spots have been smoothed out, and the steak tacos with cilantro and onion are sublime. Additionally, the staff is super nice and very efficient. And the prices are very reasonable. Score!

This place has a large variety of traditional mexican fare! It might also be the only place I’ve seen lengua served in a long time! Tthey don’t take off the taste buds so it’s looks kind of odd eating it, but boy is it delicious! I’d eat there again just to try some of the other variety. While it’s not much to look at inside and out, the food still tastes and smells delicious!

This is the absolute bottom of the barrel when it comes to a mexican restaurant, they don’t even have hot peppers or carrots, seriously??? The food was not warm, and it tasted like yesterdays leftovers, and we got sick. NEVER again will I go to a place where everyone gets sick. What a shame, they are new on the scene, and should make a better effort to get people back, now I understand why it was empty at dinner time. Maybe a new owner could come in and fix them… $$ on the higher price too

Was dying to try this place after seeing a few locations in the city and not being able to stop. My wife and I went in and decided on a two taco dinner, one pork and one steak. We also ordered the chili rellenos dinner. Nothing about this place was special except for the steak itself in the one taco. The food was bland to say the least. The pork was mediocre, the cheese in the chili rellenos was tasteless, the breading was heavy and greasy. I was drinking a Coke and my wife was drinking water, I asked for a glass of water after we were done eating and the server came back and filled my wife’s glass up instead of giving me one. We walked out of there very disappointed and agreed we would not be going back.

I am so sorry the people that have eaten here have never experienced good Mexican food. My wife and I have been told how great Zacatacos was and that the food is just like in Mexico. So, we ventured outside our bubble. Come on people, where have you been living! Except for the Mexicans serving us and making the food Zacatacos is «NOTHING» like Mexican food! Ok, the bottled water and Coke was very authentic. If you like plastic knives and forks, processed cheese ooze on nachos and having to ask for plates. Then this is for you. My tacos tasted like they were made with some sort of cleaning solution.

First let me state that I am a huge fan of Zaca Tacos. The one in Boingbrook is their 7th location. The Original, #1 is on 59th and Pulaski. The Bolingbrook location, #7 has not perfected the art yet that makes the Zaco Taco Restaurant so amazing, but it is a work in progress and they have the potential to get there. The food is good. Not as great as they can be, but good, even great compared to other taco restaurants that are offered in the suburban area. They need to get that signature grill crispiness on the carne asada but still very authentic and yummy. The actual appearance inside is blah. There are no menu boards to be found anywhere insight, just menus taped to the counter by the registers, very inconvenient if you are trying this chain for the first time. There are no decorations in the place. No wall art. no little nicknack’s. no Hispanic flare … nothing … If dining in, it is kind of a turn off. There was a period for about 20 minutes when it was silent. For some reason the music had stopped and all you could here is the chirping of the employees. It was a little disappointing… The thing that really bothered me was the appearance of the crew. PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE present yourself respectably. I do not want to see some punk with his hat turned to a side preparing my food because even if you are not a punk you are presenting yourself as one. Oh… and check your restrooms every so often . I will give them 4 stars because I believe that they will eventually get all their kinks worked out, minor little details that once they get the hang of things will improve(I really do hope). I just wonder why the owner has let this less then perfect appearance go for so long. It’s like they were left out to dry. Give them a shot though … Don’t cross them off your places go just yet !

So this is the authentic city taco joint that so many people were hyped about. I don’t know if it’s the newly opened jitters or what but I was not pleased at all with the food or the service. The sign on the door instructed us to take a seat if we were dining in, so we did. I was impressed with the presence of a real al pastor spit roaster so I ordered the al pastor burrito dinner. It was complete with the pineapple on top but I’m thinking it was just for show. The tiny paper take out menu provided(no, they did not have real menus or a menu board) said the burritos came with sour cream. Mine was void of sour cream so I had to ask for it. As for the burrito itself, a complete let down. The pork did not resemble what came off the spit. It appeared and felt like it was stewed in a less than tasty red chili sauce. The size was comparable to a baby burrito served at other Mex restaurants. The plate was not appealing with the absence of any vegetable or garnish. The rice and beans were bland and not fresh. We finally asked our server for the bill and she gave me a strange look and asked ‘the what?’ She had not a clue what a bill was. She instructed us to pay at the counter. WEHADTOWAITINLINETOPAYTHEBILL! If you’re with a party of 2 or more, forget about splitting the check. They didn’t have the capability to itemize the bill. This place has lots of work to do if they’re going to survive the already saturated Bolingbrook taco game. Save yourself the trouble and get better Mexican food down the street at Loco, Bucho’s or Rancho. Zacatacos gets no stars from me if possible.

When you think Mexican food, there are plenty of areas you associate with good Mexican food– Pilsen, Little Village, various parts of Chicago’s North Side, Summit, and Aurora among other. Bolingbrook isn’t the first place that comes to mind but that could soon change. I noticed that this place was going to open a couple months back. In fact(for whatever reason), the opening was moved back a couple weeks. So today, I drove past it and the key word was on the building billboard–«OPEN». So I decided to turn in. The location is across the street from Harold’s Chicken shack and the old Portillo’s location(the intersection I call«Cardiac Corner», as Portillo’s moved to the old Jewel/Osco location; in fact, I believe this was the original Bolingbrook Portillo’s location i f memory serves me correct). So I pull in and 2 other ladies were waiting along with me(the doors opened at Noon). I had passed by other locations over the years but never stopped at any of them. They spoke highly of Zacataco while making some small talk. The door opens and we went inside. I get to the counter to place an order but only one register was open(not a big deal because the business was only open for 2 minutes). A very nice lady took my burrito order. Then I turn around and there were 10 people behind me waiting to take an order. By this time, the place was open BARELY five minutes so I took that as another good sign. My order, though the second take, was the first order out the door(what an honor). The people who were waiting were saying how glad they were to have them in Bolingbrook. How right they were!!! My burrito was $ 5.22 with tax and had the staples(beans, lettuce, tomato, cheese & sour cream and added onions at no charge). Another near perfect burrito(I’m just getting used to my chicken being chopped versus pulled). The hot sauce wasn’t too bad but not as hot as I though it would be(I was asked which type of sauce I wanted and I said give me your hottest sauce). +++++NOW A DISCLAIMER: I HAVEEATEN12BW3 Blazing wings and didn’t shed a tear+++++++++++++. My only complaint, the first person in line got their meal free(since my order and the person who got their meal free were taken at the same time but mine was rung after the other people). If that’s my only complaint, then I have a keeper. Now Taco Diner might have a rival now. Bottom line– if you’re in that area and Portillo’s and Harold’s is too busy, go to Zacatacos. It’s a tricky entrance if you’re not going eastbound on Boughton. It’s just west or Route 53 on Boughton Road(next to the now closed Sonja Videos). The people were so friendly. My old former favorite burrito joint, I can officially disown you now that you’re a franchise and have done a TERRIBLE job. Consider going the route of Zacatacos & remain family owned. Solid first impression and WILL be back another day. My order was a take out order. 4 ½ stars.
