How to get 86’ed from a restaurant! Step 1: Move to Boise and find a restaurant which has decent food, price, and atmosphere. Step2: Spend over 2 years eating at said restaurant and know how the food should be served. Generous tipping included. Step 3: Occasionally bring to the attention of servers or management how orders have been«missed.» Pay full price, tip, and only encourage the restaurant to sustain/improved service. Step 4: Decide one day to visit for lunch with 5 friends, along with 3 children. Then the following occurs: You order a club sandwich. It arrives only half made and you ask for the other half. It arrives over 30 minutes later. A friend orders a Philly steak sandwich. It arrives with a Salisbury steak. Said friend asks the server why he did not get his order and the server says, «That’s the way it is made.» Said friend complains no more and decides to eat. Your friend sitting next you has received 2 cups of coffee while your friend with the Salisbury steak gets 4 cups. The manager or assistant manager comes to the table to see what is going on. As you try to explain about the club, said manager takes a defensive posture verbally and will not let you get a word in. She just keeps cutting you off. To top it all off, another server then comes over and, perhaps jokingly, says, «Don’t make me hit you over your head with your own wreath.» Being on the verge of crying, you leave, along with your friends after having the check paid by friend. Full Price. Step 5: Spouse hears later in the day about said event. Spouse gets 2 of the people present at lunch and brings the day’s events to the manager on during the evening. Said manager takes concerns to owner. Owner calls that night and the situation is discussed. Owner says he will take care of it. Step 6: 2 weeks go by. You and spouse who were affected decide to try eating at restaurant again. You are told you cannot be seated and served until you speak with the owner. You call the owner. Owner is at daughters’ sports event and says he will call you back. Step 7: You wait 4 days. Owner calls and leaves a message. He states he is sorry and hopes he has made«things» right. He thanks you for your 2 years of patronage and states he can no longer have us as customers. BOOM… 86’ed! Other than owner saying he was sorry for the club sandwich, no other concern was addressed. No apology, refund, NOTHING. Oh wait, we got something… we got kicked out of a restaurant where we did nothing wrong. Not only are we not able to enter building, friends and family have decided to never eat there again. They in turn have told their friends and family. I am sure this event will make an impact on people before they decide to eat at said restaurant again. Perhaps the new norm is to just accept what you are given because in the end, customers are never right! Thanks Eddie’s On another note… My Army battle buddy and I were both cooks in the national guard… We know how to serve… All we ever wanted was for them to be aware of any potential service/food issues and address said issues and become better!

Terrible. We had a good 45 minutes worth of wait for the food. If it were up to me, I would have left long before that. It wasn’t even that busy, quite a few tables were empty. It’s been a LONG time since I’ve been to a restaurant this bad. I ordered an omelette. You wouldn’t think it would take 45MINUTES to make an OMELETTE. Let alone, a bland tasting omelette. It sucked. We didn’t get any compensation for it, and I’m NEVER coming back. Wow somebody needs to get fired. Horrible horrible horrible. I will never forgive you, Eddie’s restaurant. Never.

Wow do I love this this diner. Started going to Eddies over 6 months ago. When I first went I was impressed with the amount of food you got for the price you pay. As I continued to go I became more and more familiar with the waitresses. Man do they make this place better. The waitressing staff is amazing here at Eddie’s makes me feel like this place is now my second home. I highly recommend eating here as 90% of time time your food gets to you quick even on busy Sunday’s. No matter your waitress your going to have a great time but if you have Shey or Shelby you are in for a treat Btw if when you walk in if you immediately look to the right you’ll find a photo of me and my threes friends

Eddies is a good olé’ diner. The offer belly stickin’ food at good prices. My husband and I come here for breakfast every once in a while. On the weekends, there is always short wait in the mornings, but we usually only wait about 10 minutes before being seated. The breakfast foods are about what you expect from a diner, good, greasy, and yummy. The service is good, but you can tell many of the servers don’t want to be there(at least the last two times we came). I like how they drop the check off at the table, and at your leisure you pay at the counter. I don’t expect a 5 start meal when I come here, I expect decent food, dishes I don’t have to clean, and food I don’t have to cook for that one morning. We will continue to come, as it satisfies my expectations.

The service I have had here on multiple occasions has repeatedly been great! On top of the coffee for sure! I love the decorations, too… not to mention, the food, I have not been disappointed!

My siblings and other family members have a standing lunch date every Friday. Wouldn’t consider going anywhere else. The food is always good and if something is not to your satisfaction(very very rare) they are double quick to fix it. The waitress are the best and are almost like family if you go in often enough.

This is a bonafide dandy diner. Pretty authentic retro… amen to no blasted TVs. We hit the place on a Weds nite to have breakfast-for-supper. The thick sliced bacon, the over easy eggs, the over medium eggs, the hash browns, and the coffee were dead-on perfect. Servings ample, and the plates they were bringing out for other customers looked super. The prices for the food were totally reasonable. Finally, the staff were cheerful, efficient, helpful, and each person with whom we interacted was sweet. A terrific find! Oh, and very easy to find off I-84! It’s a roomy diner w/excellent diner décor and booths w/noise barriers so very easy ambience throughout our meal.

What I am about to say makes no sense: This is not«my kind of place» but I enjoy it.(See«Update» below.) Although we’re not talking a Michelin Four Star restaurant here, the food is quite good. The menu is extensive. The seating is comfortable. The ambiance is okay plus. The staff is pleasant. The service is good. The serving portions are more than ample. The first time in here, I met some folks for breakfast, which was very good … link sausage … eggs over-easy(and they got that right) … hashbrowns … bottomless coffee. I’ve had a good old cheese burger, served with very good fries. On an other visit, I had a salad with chicken on top. Quite good. The last time I was in there, I was very hungry. I ordered the meatloaf dinner, which was served with nice grilled veggies(not ruined by overcooking) and a baked potato. As I recall, that was $ 8.95 … a deal! Although this is «not my kind of place», I will keep going back for reasonably-priced good food. UPDATE … I just took-away two stars. Why? Well, because my last two experiences in here were not good(and I mean my «last»). First of all, they have redone their dinner menu. Now, there are two ribeye steak options on the menu. The new one is supposed to be served with roma tomatoes. It wasn’t. So, why call it «steak roma»? No big deal, actually. What is a big deal to me is that the steak was awful … tough … chewey … lots of gristle … poorly cooked and tasteless. I mentioned this to the night manager on my way out(and by now she recognized me because I had been in there a few times). Rather than getting an apology, she went into a dissertation over how difficult it is to be sure that any piece of meat is going to be good and that she had talked to both the chef and the owners about the problem. Hmmmm, but that did nothing for me and she charged me full price for the meal, anyway. I thought that was truly bad customer satisfaction service. Second, the last time I went in here for dinner, I was seated in a booth and left to rot. There were waitresses scurrying all over the place … back and forth … back and forth … but nobody appeared to notice that my order had not been taken. So, I got up and left, never to return. My initial impressions were correct, «This is not my kind of place.»

Update: Went back to give them another try… HUGE improvement! We’d go back again. Food: MUCH improved on the food! My husband ordered a steak, no less, and though it was thin(normal for breakfast steak), they did a very nice job cooking it. Flavorful. My omelet was great(and ordered eggwhites too), as were the hashbrowns. VERY nice breakfast! Much different food experience. Oh, and the coconut cream pie… order it! Service: was fine — they tend to have young servers here, so take that into consideration. This is not a fine-dining experience(nor did we want one), and the service is friendly, pleasant, thorough, and these young women are clearly being trained up and well. Good attentiveness, and was ready when we were, at checkout. Good job! Atmosphere –and why the four, not five, stars: still that terrific diner feel, BUT keep in mind that because of this, and the friendly service, there are LOTS of regulars in the morning… you know, the retired set. This means things can get a little LOUD(«we’re retired! we don’t need our hearing aids anymore!» heehee). They tend to group at the bigger tables in the middle of the seating area, and that means their loudness can reach out to other tables and booths… But hey, it all adds to the atmosphere. Still, that’s why only 4 stars for me. Probably much quieter after breakfast! Management: five… no six! stars! very conscientious, caring, and wants to improve wherever possible. I was impressed.

If you like a good breakfast in a timely manor, with a coffee cup that stays full, I would recommend the friendly staff at Eddie’s Restaurant.

I decided on taking a friend here for a Sunday brunch type meal as my past visits have been decent. Today was such a bad experience that I just had to write a review. It started with being seated, it took me a while to take in the décor and make sense of it all. I also don’t understand why under the booths they have plants hanging above you(in my case it had just been watered and was dripping on me) seriously lol? Usually driving by I can see this place is packed, at this time about 130 pm it was a ghost town. Quickly the server takes our order and we wait, wait some more, and wait even longer. The food took 30 mins for two orders of chicken strips and fries/onion rings. She apologized and couldn’t tell us why it was taking so long, it’s not like they were busy. Food issues –From the pictures you can see it looks pretty decent except for the dated lettuce leaf garnish that was oxodized and had brown spots. –Onion rings were soaked in oil and not crispy like one would expect them to be. They were bland and tasted of nothing, it was exactly the same with the curly fries as well. –Sadly the chicken strips were one large strip and two tiny balls. This was unacceptable because a small strip = mostly breading. DONOTEATTHESEIFYOUHAVEDENTALWORK! The batter on these were so hard and thick it hurt my teeth after while, a few times I felt I chipped a tooth. Service issues — As per other reviewers you wait LONG periods of time for your order and we were no exception. — We sat near a table that a large group of people ate at and it sat 30 minutes before someone bussed it, the smell was bad and attracting the flies… not appetizing. — NOJOKE ready to leave and we have not received the check, in fact we did not see our server for 20 mins before that. My friend called the restaurant and told them and out of nowhere she appears and brings the wrong checks. The employees sort of dissappear at times or can be seen standing and talking to each other. I love this place. I feel right at home when I come here, they’re so nice to all their customers and it makes for a good start to the day. Try the traditional Beni with holindaze sauce.

So this is an updated review. The first time I came in, I was less than impressed. The service was apathetic, the food was mediocre, and the music was too loud. I was asked back to give them another try and I did. The second experience was much better. When you walk in, the hostess is still not very good. She didn’t greet us but she did get us seated quickly enough. She also didn’t tell us who our server was or how long we should expect to wait for her. I was not impressed with her customer service. It took about fifteen minutes before our server showed up to take our drink order, but that wasn’t a problem for me because I like a little extra time to read over the menu and I could see that they were busier than the last time I came in. If you’re the type of person who likes fast service, I might suggest going in the afternoon when they aren’t quite so busy. Our waitress was much nicer this time around and brought my toddler’s food out early for her because she was getting very fussy waiting. The food took a long time but the waitress checked in frequently and was very sweet to us. So on to the food. I ordered the steak and eggs breakfast. Please keep in mind that this is a diner style restaurant with very low prices. If you’re looking for five star organic food, I might suggest a higher end restaurant. That being said, the steak and eggs was decent(marginally better than the skillet I had ordered previously). I ordered medium rare and it came out medium well, but it was seasoned nicely. Was it the nicest cut of steak? Eh, probably not. But for a $ 9 meal, it sure beats what you’d get at a fast food place for the same price! As usual the portion sizes were large. My husband ordered a burger and he enjoyed it. My daughter ordered pancakes again this time and they came out nicely(last time they were overcooked), so that was better. As for the environment, the music was much lower this time, so that was better(last time they had it blasted so loud that I couldn’t hear). The whole restaurant has an old-fashioned diner theme, which I feel like might be more appealing to Idaho natives(I’m from Portland). The biggest appeal of this place is the fact that they give you large portions for being so inexpensive. So I’m not really sure where to rate this restaurant. I wish I could do a 3.75 because that’s about where I feel they are. Almost four stars but not quite. Hmm. Last time I gave them two stars, but since the service and food improved, I’ll would say it’s four stars(averaging out my visits). Overall, a big improvement

This place is loud and the waitresses are loud and not very polite. You can barely hear yourself think let alone have a conversation without talking loudly. My breakfast was warm at best. Terrible.

We came here because we tried to go to Raedean’s but it was too busy, so we came to Eddie’s — was not very good, greasy and not«homemade.» Probably won’t go back, but I really like the service and I enjoyed all of the décor.

I drive by this diner just about every day. It just is there. I went to the location when it was previous incarnations, and it kind of blended in to the scenery. My wife suggested we try it out. I am REALLY happy we did. We’ve gone a few times now. The staff is friendly, the prices are low, and the food is good. Can’t ask for much more! If you want some good diner food, for a great price, you really can’t beat Eddie’s Restaurant. Most of our meals have been great, I did have some finger steaks that I wasn’t a big fan of, but I just am not a fan of the style of breading. I’d say that is more personal, than saying anything about the quality. Other meals have been wonderful.

Came in after an overnight camping trip and all I wanted was a cute diner with good breakfast food. I got one of them(the cute diner) The atmosphere was adorable, very retro. It had a nice family feeling and the elderly people who eat there made my day. There was a short wait, which we used to decide what we wanted to order. I ordered the ‘famous’ rib eye steak and eggs. And my boyfriend got the eggs Benedict. Food which we didn’t get for 30+ minutes. I was practically dying and was expecting at least a «sorry for the wait». But nope. I wish I had ordered just hash browns and eggs. If you order the steak and eggs, don’t get it medium rare unless you’re a vampire and enjoy eating blood soaked meat. Plus, for the price of the meal– the portions aren’t grand. Definitely didn’t leave satisfied at all.
