I’ve been here twice and both times there have been some mix ups with the food we ordered. The first time they just forgot a few things and I understood that that kind of thing happens. The second time, however, it was worse. My wife didn’t get her salad dressing, which wasn’t a big deal. My salad, however didn’t come with the tortilla strips, my father-in-law’s salad came without the strips and tomatoes, and my mother-in-law’s salad didn’t have the cucumbers, corn, shrimp, or tomatoes. I can understand a mixed-up kitchen, but messing up on 4 orders? Additionally, my mother-in-law’s salad was half the size of mine even though we ordered the same thing; the waitress took down our order wrong. The manager came to apologize a few minutes into our meal and said she would discount the check, but then forgot to do it! It wasn’t until we told her that nothing was discounted that she actually discounted anything! I enjoyed my food both times here, but for the expensive prices I expect to not have to deal with these types of hassles.

Honestly this is the best meal you can get in Boerne, and among the top five restaurants in the Texas Hill Country. The owner and staff are gracious and hospitable. Nice selection of Texas wines, and most meal ingredients are locally or regionally sourced. Great for a nice lunch, a couple’s dinner, or a family/business meal gathering. Love, love, love it!!!

I’m visiting from California and had planned on coming here while I was in town. My sister, mother-in-law and sister-in-law decided to meet here for lunch. Right away, Bonnie recognized my sister and I(we all went to school in Boerne together) and gave us a big hug! The food and service didn’t disappoint. The waitress was great and on top of everything. She was very friendly and knew the answer to every question we had about the specials and the menu items. We all ordered salads and they were delicious and very fresh. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to eat in town. I definitely plan on going again the next time I visit Texas.

Came here for lunch and it has a really nice outdoor area perfect to enjoy the summer days. the only downside to sitting outside is that there were too many flies making it a little uncomfortable. I had the Greek salad with chicken and it was good, though overpriced for what it really is. The service was alright.

This is a nice little restaurant to take visitors or have a weekend lunch. We have been here a few times and have enjoyed almost everything we’ve tried. The truffle fries are a must! Four stars because prices are a little steep, but you can’t beat the location on Main Street and our service has always been good.

The food is fantastic! I love their lamb sliders. Service is always decent and consistent. Can get a little noisy because it is a smaller restaurant but the atmosphere is nice

The menu is pretty limited, but the offerings are all nice and pretty unique. The food was fresh and very tasty, and the service was good. I’ll be back with the family.

Great place for Sunday brunch. They have great specials. We really enjoyed the fried pecan pie and the whiskey sundae. Usually they have a special that includes the local game and it has always been done well.

Lovely little farm-to-table restaurant, but the prices are slightly inflated(Boerne main street, go figure.) The atmosphere is trying to be upscale-ish, or maybe the menu prices just make you think so, but still casual enough not to come off as pretentious. The restrooms are shared with the beer garden in the back, so that will bring you back down to earth in a hurry. The service was super friendly. I wound up only ordering a Farmer’s Board for my meal and was very satisfied. nice selection of meats, cheeses, fruits, honey, nuts, and bread, all local, for $ 12, and was enough for my dinner. My husband’s entrée was double the cost, about the same size, and he wasn’t as happy with it as I was with mine. Overall though, we would definitely return the next time we’re in Boerne.

We made reservations for 6:30 pm and were seated promptly on arrival. Staff brought us menus and H2O, then they forgot about us for about 15 minutes. Admittedly, 4 – 5 other couples came in about 5 minutes after us. Oh well, they quickly picked up where they left off and gave us otherwise excellent service. Menu is limited but features well-thought-out offerings. We opted for fried avocado appetizer. Major league yummy. Esposa had shrimp and grit from menu: dee-lish. I ordered the daily special: swordfish but had to substitute the scallops after they ran out. Excellent. All foods are organic, local, and/or «natural». All wines and beers are from the Republic of Tejas. The McPherson 2014 Viognier was a surprisingly delicious white, with a markup of only 50% over retail(most restaurants charge double retail). Altough we passed on dessert, we spied another couple enjoy what appeared to be an awesome chocolate mousse with bourbon. Ambiance is rustic Texas Hill Country. Dress code is whatever floats your boat: we saw a bubba in his flip flops and an older gentleman wearing a nice suit. All in all, an enjoyable experience.

Very good eatin’, but the prices are a bit too high. I had the axis burger, and my buddy had the shrimp Po boy. Both were excellent, and the service was perfect. The location is really awesome. It’s more of a date location, or a fun place to meet up with friends. The location probably explains the price. I’ll come back, but next time it will be a date with my wife instead of a business lunch.

Came to this gem on Main Street on a Friday night. Faces the main drag in Boerne and backs up to a bar with outdoor sitting and live music! We sat outside and had baked salami chips, lamb sliders and blue crab stuffed shrimp. All excellent choices. Tasty, good portions, well presented. Service was excellent. The wine list is not too long and all Texas wines. We had a great casual dining experience with good service great food with a unique, farm-to-table quality Highly recommend

We’ve been here several times and the food has not disappointed. Service is slow and spotty, though. Not here way to be with a lunch crowd. Yes, most are probably tourists and not on a strict timeline, but some of us do have to get back to work. Today, we were there two hours. We didn’t order anything weird — a salad with chicken and a muffuletta. As I say, the food is great. Check out the pictures. The three stars is for the service. Food is four stars.

I have large family and we went here for the Sunday brunch. Absolutely everything was perfect with a unique local touch(local brews, axis hamburger). If you want to introduce an out of towner to Boerne’s local flavor and a historic building this is the place! We started off the the Farmers Board that came with some of my favorite local smoked sausage. I ordered the Mediterranean chicken salad sandwich and thought it was the best tasting chicken salad sandwich that I can remember. The kids split a Greek Salad and Lamb Sliders… PLATES were cleaned. My wife had the Wienerschnitzel and we all loved the little morsel she let us taste. Chief Joseph Brantley has delivered an unmatched local experience with fresh and quality ingredients. Make sure you stop in.

Loved Bonnie and Joseph at Riven Rock in Comfort and they’ve brought many of his best dishes to the new menu at their new Bistro! We enjoyed the fried green tomatoes and then jumped right into the chop,(a thick and juicy double cut), sockeye salmon and shrimp(cooked perfectly) and grits. As much as I love his meats, it’s often his salads, veggies and side dishes that steal the show. My only slight let down was the crisp as it was too heavy on crisp and too light on fruit. Our server was friendly, yet non-intrusive and the casual atmosphere fits beautifully in Boerne’s line-up of restaurants. We’ll be visiting regularly.

Food was good, Hipster ambiance was predictable and boring. Restrooms outside. Hardwood smoker in back area adding flavor. After being coughed on by the waiter, our order was placed. My Red Deer burger was great, but was wondering where the French fries were at for $ 12? Nickel and diming for extra cash is pathetic. My kids got chicken strips child’s plates(not on the menu). Payout time, and 2 children’s plates came out to $ 23.47!!! At least their plates came with French fries. I Don’t remember if the drinks were included for the kids! NOTGOINGBACK! Boerne has turned rancid. Tip for Boerne restaurants: if every restaurant is hipster chic, then none are hipster chic.

The bistro is civilized, so I hope it does well, but it needs work. Basically, it has the feel of being run by not-quite-professional folks. The menu is good. The rooms are good, though a bit sparse. Service has been adequate-to-good on our three visits. The kitchen has been consistently a bit slow. Yesterday, I ordered the daily special – Reuben sandwich. Turned out that the bread hadn’t arrived. They kept the Reuben on the specials board and I heard them giving the no-bread excuse to others. Does that seem odd to you? So I had the Axis burger($ 13). It’s a good item, a play on your usual hamburger. Sweeter roll, sweet sauce. Fresh garnishes. But I ordered medium rare, and it came out not quite rare. More like a quick sear. Cold and raw in the center. The spouse asked if I wanted to send it back. I should have, but I had already cut it in half, and I hate it when they toss food back on the grill after it’s been served, and I don’t want to go through all that. Besides, I’ll eat anything. Her quail tacos($ 12) were mostly veggies, strong on the onions. Not so much quail. No sides on either dish, though the tacos had cole slaw on the top. The available sides are basically cole slaw and house-made chips, at $ 3.00 each. That’s definitely a weak point. If that’s all you’re offering, go ahead and put them on the plate, instead of increasing the price of a burger and chips to $ 16. Fabulous burger at The Cove in San Antonio, with fries, $ 9.75. Fabulous lamb burger at The Cove in San Antonio, with fries, $ 12.25. The best double bacon cheeseburger in the entire universe, with fries, at Hodad’s in Ocean Beach, CA, $ 14, not including airfare. Double bacon cheddar elk burger at Sweetwater in Jackson Hole, $ 13.75. Grilled Niman Ranch burger with fries on the terrace at George’s in La Jolla with a view of the bay that will make you swoon, $ 12.50. You decide.

3.5 star. Came here this past weekend with my friend for brunch. Apparently it’s a new restaurant in Boerne so we decided to give it a try. It’s a pleasant surprise b/c this place is super cute! It has this old charm with lots of adorable and quirky decors. It sets the mood for brunch perfectly. We ordered latte and cappuccino and quail legs appetizer to start. The quail legs were perfectly fried and tasted crispy outside and tender inside. Great choice! We were not so sure about the soup of the day so the waiter offered a small bowl to sample. It has coconut and curry in it and tasted decent. For entrees I ordered the egg Benedict and my friend got the schnitzel. The entrees were a bit disappointing b/c they were very average. The menu was actually intriguing including tenderloin, crab cake Benedict, and a lamb dish I wanted to get. Too sad. I wouldn’t mind coming again to try more things b/c it’s such a cute place. Maybe I’ll just order the quail legs, a soup and salad next time and skip the entrees!
