There are good bike shops in South Florida but Racer’s Edge is great. I’ve been riding for 5 years and didn’t realize how important the fitting is to the ride. I purchased my bike at Racer’s Edge a few months back and the difference in riding is night and day. I would strongly recommend John and the other folks at Racer’s Edge. They all go out of their way to help any time I go in.

If I knew then what I know now… OK, for all of you newbies who enjoy cycling & want a better ride please listen up: there is a huge difference between a professional fit and the guy at your LBS eyeing you for free. I’ve owned two road bikes since I started riding, and certainly could never tell how a bike was supposed to feel. On a ride a couple weeks back one guy(thanks Jack) thought I looked«off» on my brand new, way-more-money-than-I-should-have-spent Trek Emondá. He recommended I go see John at the Racer’s Edge. The experience had and information gained working with John is worth every single penny. All those questions you didn’t even know to ask(for us newbies) when buying a bike are answered here. As it turns out I was so far off in my LBS fit I wasn’t even close to an efficient pedaling stroke. The position I am in after my fitting doesn’t even resemble where I was before I went. I’m only a few rides in, and wow does it make a huge difference. We did try a new, not inexpensive saddle that seemed great during the fit; however, it didn’t work out as planned on the road. When I went back John didn’t merely propose swapping one saddle for another. We did a whole mini-fitting just to get the saddle right! Now that’s standing by your product! As for my bike: luckily, John was able to rig up my bike into a great ride because I really cannot justify buying a new one. It is soooo much better now, but even I can tell we just got it there. I wish I had known about Racer’s Edge before the purchase. So if you don’t really understand bike geometry and how it affects you, and you’re going to plunk over $ 2,000(or lots more) then I implore you to add that 10%, get a fit and listen to his recommendation. I certainly wish I had.

Depending on where you live in Florida, and as traffic has a slight tendency to increase with time in our region, this isn’t the place you will necessarily enjoy driving to . But if good service, great advices, and perfect fitting is what you are looking for then driving there should become your only goal. I was advised to go there by fantastic riders from«the mountains»(Colorado), and regardless of the flatness we encounter here in Florida I have no regrets when it comes to have gotten my bike properly fitted. After trying out and visiting many different fitters around south Florida, I am very glad I ended up fitting my bike at Racer’s Edge. John is a truly passionated rider and professional fitter, definitely not in for the sale only!!! Fitting my road bike there was a true success and I would recommend it to anyone that lives over 100 miles over. If you live 100 miles away, the good thing about getting your bike fitted at Racer’s Edge is that the quality of the fitting will make you want to ride your bike home. So if you understand the concept of spending a bit more money upfront versus spending lesser amounts in a repetitive manner then you definitely found your spot. In the contrary, if you like to have things done cheap and don’t mind spending the time and energy to get things done and redone, costing in the end much more money, you’ll definitely find a way to brag about cheaper prices elsewhere. Beware that the fitting of a bike isn’t done in a single step, and that you will usually be charged for both steps, especially if you starting without a bike. As much as I read some review that complain about this practice, I found it perfectly and clearly explained to me upfront. In the end, I actually found it completely justified! In short, if you are anywhere in south Florida looking for the right place to get sound advices, great bikes and top notch fitting simply make an appointment and get there!

Best custom bike shop in South Florida. The owner John is a great guy and all the people who work for him bend over backwards to help you. I’ve had my custom Cervelo for about five years now and I love it!

Very disappointed that the $ 100 that I spent on a fitting before I bought a bike from this shop was not applied in anyway to a fitting on the bike that I bought somewhere else. I was not aware that the initial fit fee was only good if I bought the bike from their store. I was never told that it would be ANOTHER $ 195 for them to fit me to the bike that I ended up buying from Craigslist. Poor communication has lost them a customer.

I purchased a custom built bike from Racers Edge. I had a fitting at the beginning and one after the bike was built for me. John, the owner, did both fittings. I took the bike out for my first ride today and I could not be happier. John really spent time with me to understand what I was looking for and the kind of rider I am. I have to say he nailed it. Vince is the bike mechanic and a wealth of information in addition to being just a friendly guy. Great shop, products and people. I highly recommend Racers Edge.
