Curls Rock Hair Salon

I’ve been looking for a salon that really knows how to handle curls, and this place is it! Akira cut my hair and explained the Deva products that she used along the way. I’ll be making all of my appointments for cuts with her! I had Jasmine color me while I was there too. I was expecting more from the color, especially because I scheduled for the pintura highlights. Jasmine was really sweet, but after we discussed color and the fact that I didn’t want to be too blonde going into summer, she just painted a few stripes of bleach into my hair. I guess I expected her to paint color onto the curls… My hair turned out «fine», but she never even came over to check it after it was washed out. I’ll go back to my regular colorist in the future because she spends more time and makes sure we’ve achieved what we were looking for after each color. I at least want to know that a colorist cares how it looks when it’s finished!
This place would’ve gotten 5 stars if the color process would’ve gone better, but even with that being just ok, I would absolutely recommend getting a cut here if you have curls.

New customer called to make appointment and Diane the girl who answered the phone cut me off mid sentence several times Kept trying to give me appointments during my work hours even though I told her when I was available. I asked her how long The girl I wanted the appointment with had been cutting hair and she told me to look up their reviews on line. Asked for Saturday appt and was told may 14^th in two weeks was available. I was at work and quickly wrote down the information. Called back after work to confirm because may 14 is actually almost 1 month away, not two weeks. She again cut me off mid sentence and had the audacity to try and argue with me. People who work In customer service should understand that front desk and phone calls is the first impression customers have.

Awesome experience! Laenny was amazing and sweet. Very knowledgable… very thorough. I learned how to correctly style my hair. She brought my hair back to life no joke! Definitely going back! If anyone with curly hair needs a good salon curls rock salon is the place to go!

I went here with a Groupon deal, it was the best deal ever! The ladies here are very friendly & professional. I have worn my hair straight my whole life. I was always fighting what I thought were waves in all the wrong places. Turns out I am a curly girl and I love it! Laenny cut & styled & taught me how to do my own hair. She was awesome. Nadria gave me beautiful highlights and she was also awesome. I will definitely return for my next cut/​color.

I got a cut and style from Laenny. She knew exactly how to handle my curly, frizzy hair. She did a beautiful job. I would recommend her and this salon. I will definitely come back in the future.

Finally I found a hair Salon that treats wavy/​curly hair. Three other salons I went to when I moved down here from the Northeast would blow it out. Within a few days it was back to annoying waves.
Not only do they wash and dry it properly but they take the time to instruct you how to dry it at home. They also gave me instructions to go home with.
Lainey cut my hair dry which is the way to to do and Nadria gave me my color with highlights. Came out perfect.
Very clean and I found the staff very professional.
The music is very soothing and the chairs you sit in for your wash messages you.
You won’t be disappointed.
I have been to this salon a few times now and I can’t say enough about it. This time Akeiri washed and styled my hair instructing me how to dry it correctly so I ended with beautiful loose curls
Everyone again is very friendly and helpful.

I DID IT!!! I BIG CHOPPED!!! I was soooooo nervous, but it turned out to be wasted energy. I. LOVE. MY. HAIR!!! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MY HAIR!!! Akeiri is AMAZING, and after telling her several of my hair «dreams», none of which were remotely similar, I walked out of there with a huge smile and I can’t stay out of the mirror!

I had such a great experience! I felt like the staff took their time to understand what I wanted and make sure that’s what they did. Everyone offered helpful tips to keep things going at home and they’ve inspired me to put way more effort into styling my hair than usual lol

I was so pumped to find a salon that specializes
in curly hair! I read reviews and they made me even more excited. Unfortunately when I arrived I was disappointed. As soon as I walked in, the front desk girl just starred at me so I introduced myself. She told me to have a seat and that was that. When I walked to the bathroom, as I smiled at the employees, NONE of them smiled back. They are miserable. The
staff is not friendly, they’re very impersonal which
makes the time together very awkward and uncomfortable. They are far more interested in engaging in conversation among themselves than with their clients. This is my second time
here within 2 months and the second time was worse than the first. No conversation, no introduction. Nothing. Just awkward. When I asked a question (to the girl who was coloring my hair, whose name I do not know because she did not introduce herself) I received a 1 word response and that was it, I was hoping to initiate some form of conversation, no luck there. Thankfully, the girl who washed my hair was very sweet, she spoke to me, asked questions and gave me answers to mine, she was happy to help and very kind, this was refreshing.
While I am thrilled to have found products that work so well with my hair, I will not be returning back here. I am on a mission to find another salon. It boggles my mind that there are people like this that work in the customer service industry. This was such an exciting experience for me and they took that away.
I give the Devacurl produts 5 stars for sure, if I could I’d give this salon 0.

I really wanted this to be a good cut. But once again I am left with another bad hair cut that has me wishing I just left my split ends alone. My hair is shapeless… And heavy on the ends. Rule #1 with curly hair is to not have triangle shaped hair. Now I do. Also, the products left my hair heavy and sticky. Usually by day 2 my curls have sprung up happily, but not with this cut and these products. And just to put it out there, the front desk lady wasn’t very welcoming. Everyone kinda seemed miserable. As a first time customer I guess I just expected to feel more welcomed and comfortable. I don’t know (Maybe I’m spoiled) :-)

I was completely blown away by my first experience at this salon. Those with curly hair know how scary it is to get a haircut because some stylist don’t know how to deal with the texture. This salon is the COMPLETE opposite. My stylist was Laenny and she was fabulous. She took the time to understand what I wanted and dry cut my hair which is critical with curls. Nadria did a wonderful job on my color and I was so surprised by thier massage chairs at the sink. My final look revealed beautiful hydrated curls. The before and after was truly a transformation. I will not go anywhere else ever again.

I had a really great experience at the Curls Rock Hair Salon. Katrina was my hair stylist and Nadria did my hair color. Everyone was super friendly and made me feel very welcomed. I had no idea what cut I wanted and Katrina took her time to help me find out what shape I was most interested in. Then Nadria did my honey colored highlights, it turned out beautiful. I left with the shape and the color I wanted, my curls look so defined. Katrina showed me how to style my hair after I’ve washed with a co-​wash, I’ve definitely found the perfect hair salon for my curls. I could not be happier with my hair.

Hated and still hate my hair cut. I asked for a trim and got 6 inches cut off. We talked about framing my face with short pieces and I ended up with long pieces in the front. I tried to say something but the hair stylist got immediately offended and said my hair wasn’t that short! Typical of a bad stylist. She put so much product in my hair when she was styling it, I think she was trying to weigh my hair down to cover it up! Will not be going back.
I’ve gotten Deva cuts before so I know how they go. They are great cuts but this experience was terrible.
Update: Everyone keeps asking me who it was. I didn’t want to call anyone out but I believe her name was Annie.

I am in absolute love. Right when I arrived the stylists were super friendly and I was greeted by my stylist Anne. As I have never been here before I was surprised how Anne took the time to sit down with me and take the time to consult and really look at my hair and ask what I wanted to do and what would be best. Was very fwd on how much everything would cost to ensure I was comfortable before she started.
As I have super long, super thick wavy/​curly hair it’s really hard to manage and maintain. After my visit I genuinely feel like I’ve been taking care of my hair wrong all my life. My hair has NEVER looked so healthy, I was amazed as I have never had a haircut where they literally cut and took care of every curl.
I’ve always flipped my hair to one side when I wear it down so I could keep it «under control» but Anne really showed me to embrace my curls.
For the first time in my life I split my hair down the middle and embraced the thick full curly hair that I have. I am truly in love!

I have thick, unruly, stubborn curls. Jasmine (I hope I spelled the name right) gave me a great cut that kept the essential length, framed my face, and allowed my curls to hold great shape without being bulky. I’m so happy with this cut! Best haircut I’ve had in my adult life!
And when I told the stylist that I have back and neck issues, the stylist and shampooer talked about it, and both took great care to minimize any movement that might cause any pain. While the process wasn’t pain-​free, the discomfort was as minimal as I could have hoped (since it’s simply not possible to put my head and neck in the shampoo sink without pain). They really understood how to minimize the pain.
Every stylist has curly hair, and they treat curly hair as something to enjoy and show off, not something to fight. If you have curly hair and you want a style that uses your curls to flatter you, this is the place!

Great salon!!! Multiethnic women and men really have a place they can come to that will cater to your curls no matter your curl type.
Laenny is amazing with those shears. Showed her a few inspiration pics and let her do her thing. Then she let me loose to Nadria for some color. I never do color and she warned me I’ll be addicted. I think she is right. Loving coppery highlights and now I want even more.
The shampoo chairs are fun. I’d go back just for that alone. After the great shampoo and deep condition with all the great Devacurl products my hair came out exactly how I wanted it. I’ll be going back every six months for sure. Fun experience indeed. The other ladies getting their hair done were ecstatic with their results. The amount of beautiful curls in that establishment left you inspired at the possibilities of what your curls can do.
I’ve been wanting a Devacut for at least 10 years. The next time I go to NY I kept saying. I don’t have to. Just gotta go up the street.

I have wavy/​frizzy hair. Not curly but not straight. I was so tired of the frizz every time the humidity went above 50%. I purchased a groupon and had Laenny and Nadria do my hair. The cut is amazing, the highlights look fantastic and they taught me how to do my hair at home. I haven’t been excited about a hair cut in a long time but I have found my new place!!! There was no pressure to buy any products and the salon has reclining massage chairs at the sinks. Seriously this place is awesome and totally worth every penny!!!

This review is so long overdue. I went here a few months ago. What an amazing place to get your curls pampered!!! Everyone who works here has curly hair, so they understand the unique challenges that we curly girls face. When they see your hair, they don’t look at you like it’s going to be such a challenge to deal with, or try to sell you on chemical treatments and straighteners… as if there is only ONE type of beauty. They take a genuine interest in what you want (and what you don’t want), while listening patiently to any questions or concerns that you might have. The standouts for me on my first visit here were the receptionist – Pamela, the stylist who cut my hair – Laenny, and the stylist who colored my hair – Nadria. Pamela at the front desk did wonders for calming my nerves. Laenny patiently listened to and looked at all of the ideas and photos that I showed for the type of cut I wanted… and then gave me exactly what I was looking for with the hands of an artist. And Pamela gave me the color of colors! So natural and just beautiful. I left the salon looking and feeling great. I went from always wearing my hair pulled back in a bun, to wearing my curls out and free everyday. I was educated on how to take care of my hair and it truly made a difference. I HIGHLY recommend making your appointment with Laenny or Nadria for cut and color. You will not be disappointed!
