Today we stopped in for there $ 1.13 breakfast special. we arrived about 9:20am. we stood at the hospice station for about 5 minute, the gal was doing her thing. she did seat 2 tables and once she finally got around to it asked if we’d been helped. well your the only one working the station. all she had to say was I’ll be right with you instead of just ignoring us. she proceeded to tell us there was a 15 minute wait with a half empty restaurant. 5 minutes into it we were seated but sat at the booth 20 minutes before the Mgr walking around with a pot of coffee asked if we needed a fresh cup. I said no but we have been sitting here 20 minutes waiting on a server… the manager took our drink and meal order. a different manager Casey brought our meal to us. when I asked for the bill the meal rang up full price. the manager did hustle back a couple minutes later saying he rung it up wrong. what a quagmire… we have eaten here before. the pepper steak is the best I’ve had in town and we’ve also been in for the kids eat free on Tuesday. hopefully next time we come in they have a better handle on things

I highly recommend skipping the Monday night wing and fries special. The service was slow and the wings aren’t good. The bone in wings were fatty and bruised. The boneless wings were petrified. Couldn’t penetrate them with a fork. Major disappointment.

Having now been back here several times, including lunch, breakfast, appetizers/drinks and the special 5-course chefs tasting… it’s more than time to update my review and I have to say there’s a message in the above pattern… this place truly does A LOT of things well and deserves more attention. And given the thought put into the even just the Caribou coffee and the consistently excellent service and it’s time 2go 4-stars!

We were treated rudely by the waiter who did not want to answer any questions or help us feel comfortable. We didn’t feel welcome. Not only that but it was super super slow. Was not impressed at all. Won’t be back.

Usually get breakfast from there. Food is always good. However some consistency would be nice. If you order the same thing two different days, it may come out prepared two different was.

To start, the temperature in the restaurant was unbelievably cold. It was in the low 50’s outside and the a/c was on full blast inside. We kept our jackets on for the entire meal and the men had to put on their hats because they were so cold. Appetizer was ordered along with our meal. Appetizer plates were never removed when meal was served. One member of our party did not receive his meal until the rest of us had finished ours. Not one plate was cleared from our table when we received our bill. Food was cold within minutes due to the freezing temps in the restaurant. We will never return!!!

Went here for breakfast today and loved it! The service was top notch — Casey took care of all our needs, was friendly and made sure everything prepared as we wanted it. I had the oatmeal and a side of turkey sausage. Both had excellent flavor and left no aftertaste that’s common with lower quality food/food prep. My dining partner had eggs, crisp bacon, sausage and the most amazing pancake! She was raving simulcast about the pancake, I had to try it. It was cooked perfectly — a little crunch around the edges and soft and fluffy everywhere else. I think the batter has s touch of vanilla in it that is heavenly. I didn’t expect this in a restaurant next to a food court in a grocery store. The atmosphere is modern industrial, peaceful, but with a cool vibe. special bonus is they serve Caribou coffee! We’ll definitely be going back!

The food was good. Unfortunately the staff was terrible. The management is clueless. My drink took 20 minutes to arrive. The server forgot to ring in my food then blamed the kitchen. He never even apologized. I give 2 stars only because I may just have had a bad server.

We went on a Sunday afternoon to have a late lunch. We were seated right away and a server took our drink order as we were seated. The waiter(also was the bartender) came over to our table to take our order, but when we asked a couple questions, he seemed clueless and had to run off and ask someone else. Our order was a small pizza and a pulled pork sandwich. The food arrived(which seemed to take forever). The food was good, the pizza was hot and fresh. My pulled pork sandwich was really good, it was a big sandwich. The only problem we had was that our waiter never came back to check on us and refill our waters. I finally flagged down another employee to get refills on water. Of course, at that moment we had three people coming to refill our water. We declined dessert, but went to the bakery afterwards and got a free cookie from the counter. :) I’m willing to go back and give them another chance.

Went here for dinner for the first time. The server was nice… That’s about all the good that can be said. She had no clue as to what was in draft at the bar and in general seemed clueless about usual items such as what the soups were. The sweet rolls were good if a little difficult to get out of the wrappers but nothing too terrible. The real travesty and the reason for the two stars came with our entrees, we had the Mac and cheese and the Reuben, both were salty to the point of being inedible, and to top it off the Reuben was barely Luke warm

Always a good dining experience. I’ve always gotten my food in a timely manner, and never had an issue with the staff. Pretty good prices for the amount of food you get, and how can you pass up on the deals(a different on everyday of the week) Wednesday being my favorite, how can you beat half price sushi. that’s actually pretty good! Some of the people just nit pick all the small things, overall this is a great stop for a filling meal, that’s quick and won’t break the bank. My favorites: Monte Cristo, Cha ching roll on Wednesdays!

The chicken parmesan was amazing… It was a very large piece of chicken! Service was great too. The atmosphere is kind of weird… After all, it is located in a grocery store.

Slow service/forgetting to prep one of our guests food was the commanding reason for the sub par review. 10 min after everyone else was served was her food brought out. Food was good. Our table ordered the open faced mac and cheese burger, fries were fresh cut, good sangria and bloody Mary. Big portions!

Have eaten here 5 times since they opened! Fabulous food and exceptional service! As for all new restaurants they went through a learning stage. Love it!

The Market Grille is a solid spot for food /drinks whether you grocery shop at Hy-Vee or not. Being one of Hy-Vee’s newer concept, they really try to push a more upscale dining experience here vs their normal café options they have available in the grocery store. Drinks are reasonable, and includes a solid selection of craft brews. Seeing that they are a grocery store too, they have anything you could possibly want on their menu. Burgers, pizza, steak, asian, salad, fish, chicken… You name it, they have it. They also have a very underrated(and very reasonable) breakfast. Market Grille also includes tons of TV’s and a very warm and inviting atmosphere. If it wasn’t attached to a grocery store, it would get more respect for being an above average restaurant.

This review is for menu breakfast — not the Sunday brunch buffet although, we were there on Sunday. The buffet looked AMAZING and I want to try it at some point. They had peel and eat shrimp, carved prime rib, and made to order omelet/Benedict station. The buffet starts at 9:00 on Sundays and we were told that at 11:00 they start to changeover some breakfast items to lunch type items. Ok, so now for our menu breakfast… I opted for the Hy Five which includes eggs, hashbrowns, sausage, bacon and a pancake for $ 6.99. Eggs were cooked nicely and the link sausage was very tasty and plump. Hash browns were just ok and were luke warm. The coffee was the BEST coffee of any breakfast place in town hands down — Caribou for $ 1.29 with multiple refills. The server was pretty new and so was a little nervous. They offered a to go cup/refill of coffee as we were finishing up.

«Jack of all trades, master of none.» You can tell a lot about the quality of a restaurant by the number of options on the menu. I thought maybe with it being attached to a grocery store full of fresh ingredients this would be different, but it wasn’t. We started with the bruschetta cheese balls. Yay Ropp cheese! Six tiny skewers, each with one small(overcooked) cheeseball, half of a cherry tomato, a spinach leaf, and some balsamic. Total letdown. It took almost an hour for our food to arrive and we were told several times that the kitchen was backed up but it was evident that the server forgot to put our order in until we reminded her 15 minutes later that I had ordered a beer when we ordered the food. The monte cristo club was alright, nothing too amazing. The burger he ordered tasted like it had been microwaved. All in all? Overpriced and underwhelming. Hopefully they are able to work out the first month kinks and improve.

After having been impressed with the Hyvee itself as a titan of a supermarket, I came into the Market Grille with what you could probably call high expectations; at least, high expectations from a restaurant tied to a supermarket. Unfortunately, the Grille did not meet those expectations. Now, I’ll preface this with the fact that Hyvee is still in its first month, and it is likely experiencing no end of birthing pains; the fact that there are staff *everywhere* is a good testament to that fact, and maybe that’s part of why the service was so lackluster. We were seated promptly, which was unsurprising, as it had just turned 11 and the grille was relatively empty. Drinks orders were taken on the spot, which was good, and they arrived quickly, also good. Our waitress, when asked what the soup of the day was, had to go and check(not unforgivable), but then vanished for a good ten minutes while doing so. Eventually our orders were taken(one ruben burger, one portobello burger, one chicken sandwich), and the staff vanished yet again. It took nearly half an hour to get our food, and while it arrived hot, it was obviously kept under lamps to keep it warm. The ruben burger was very undercooked in the middle and bland, and the bread underneath had all but dissolved while waiting. The chicken sandwich was unremarkable, and the chips that were ordered with it were plain and cold. The portobello burger was good, thankfully, so it wasn’t a total wash. All-in-all, I wasn’t impressed at all, which is sad, considering the high bar the rest of the business has set. The price, all things considered, is lower than what you’d expect for a sit-down restaurant, but the quality is nowhere near where it’d need to be; instead, you get the distinct impression that you’d eaten in what amounts to a dolled-up supermarket cafeteria, albeit one with a fully-stocked bar. I’d like to say that the Market Grille deserves a second chance, and considering how new it is, it very likely does, but I didn’t see anything on the menu that would tear me away from other restaurants, say, Smashburger, which sits literally 50 yards away.
