The Red Rocker is in a quaint historic mansion in a dark narrow residential neighborhood just off the main street in Black Mountain. The parking was at a premium but worth the effort. The Service was exceptional, friendly, professional and smiling from the moment we walked in. Our meal was to die for. We both had tomato bisque soup, and I had lobster Risoto, which we shared. Then for our entrée my wife had a spaghetti squash dinner that she raved about and even took home the leftovers and I enjoyed, savored and will remember forever a Porkchop that was bred in heaven and devoured with gusto. Doing something I rarely do, but after that meal I needed to; I ordered dessert and I have two words: «Bumbleberry Pie». No words could convey the other festival of flavors that I enjoyed just order it and we’ll talk later.

My husband and I had dinner here tonight and it was excellent! I had the grilled pork chops with apple butter and it was delicious. My husband had the pot roast and it was also very good. Service was great’

While visiting the area we stumbled onto this adorable B&B for dinner. It’s a large older home with a beautiful yard and cozy atmosphere. Although we had no reservation, Joe(the manage of less than a year) greeted us as if he’d been waiting for us to arrive. Joe was friendly, knowledgeable and helped make our visit memorable. The atmosphere was like eating dinner in a big family dinning room, cozy quiet charming. Our service was impeccable and the food was amazing! Highly recommend the beef stew that melts in your mouth! I have to say the crowning touch to our experience was the desserts! The peanut butter pie, blackberry cobbler – delicious! But the blue ribbon goes to the coconut cake! It was AMAZING! Light, fluffy full of flavor and huge! I thought about it all the following day! We ended up coming back after trails then shopping all day just for dessert and coffee! There is no more delicious dessert in town than here at the Red Rocker Inn. The food is wonderful, the staff friendly and attentive, prices a re good for the quality and experience. Joe even took us around to show us the rooms in the Inn, each unique and cozy! Highly recommend.

We ate here this weekend after a day visiting shops in Black Mountain. My wife and I each had the entrée salads, with trout and chicken added. Superb meal! Service was excellent and nice choice of wines. Desserts were also outstanding. Very warm and comfortable setting. We were so impressed, we will likely plan to stay overnight here during a visit to Black Mountain some time ahead. Highly recommended!

My husband and I go to the Red Rocker Inn on average three times a year for an overnite getwaway. Part of the incredible experience, and what keeps us coming back is eating at the Inn. We love that the menu is constantly offering new dishes, and special appetizers. We have never gotten a bad meal there, it’s always been exceptional. Starting off with the homemade biscuits and homemade applebutter, all the way to the signature desserts.(We’ve had the Ribeye most consistently, and it’s always been done perfectly.) The prices are very fair. Highly recommend a meal there, and if you can, make it an overnight – that way you get their incredible breakfast. Doug is an incredible Innkeeper.)

Food is good, but not great, making it a little overpriced for the quality. However, the staff is quite incredible! The manager Joe and server Kevin were so nice and very accommodating! The restaurant is part of a B&B, but it’s open to the public. Cozy, home-like atmosphere. They have a kids menu, however, I wouldn’t say this restaurant is great for kids. We took our 1.5&3.5 year olds. The older one did fine, but our younger was fussing and crying a lot, and since it’s such a quiet, intimate setting, we felt bad having a fussy baby with us. The staff was so nice about it, but next time we’d probably leave the babes at home.

We were referred to the Red Rocker Inn by a family friend who had stayed here on a retreat. It was out first time at a bed and breakfast but we wanted somewhere romantic as it was our first anniversary and the Red Rocker seemed to be it! Not knowing I asked for chocolate covered strawberries and champagne be delivered to our room and my husband had ordered flowers. We were delighted with the service while ordering both of these things and it made us look even more forward to our trip! Upon arrival we were greeted by Joe(the night manager) who was just wonderful! Very friendly and helpful! He showed us to our room, it was very tidy and so comfy! The strawberries, champagne and flowes were there waiting for is. It was the perfect start to our anniversary weekend! The other highlight of our stay at the Red Rocker was breakfast! It was so delicious. Don’t tell my grandmother but he cheese grits here were the best I have ever had and coming from a true Southern Belle that is a huge compliment! The staff were so friendly and the owners were great for a quick chat! We loved this B&B and fell in love with Black Mountain! We will definitely return! Thank you Red Rocker Inn for being part of our first anniversary trip that we will never forget!

Good local restaurant but not great on our last visit. I ordered the ribeye, one of their signature dishes with bleu cheese butter topping. The steak was under cooked and room temperature at best. The topping was very good. My wife ordered the special salmon with a fig and bacon sauce. Large portion nicely prepared. The peanut butter pie was excellent as was the wine, a nice red Zinfandel. Wish I would have sent my steak back. Great service and nice casual atmosphere.

Great restaurant, great food, and amazing desserts. The restaurant has a very nice homely feel to it. I didn’t stay overnight here, but heard from people in the wedding party it was really nice; heard their breakfast was very good.

Everything was absolutely delicious! Service was excellent and the staff was most accommodating. It’s at the top of our list of places to take out of town guests or to have a celebratory dinner!

This place is not accessible. If you use a wheelchair dont even think about It. Food is passable nothing to write home about. Service was great almost made up for the food.

The food here was fantastic! The southern hospitality was genuine and authentic. I had the mountain trout which was excellent and the stuffed mushrooms were maybe the best I’ve ever had. They change the menu periodically which I really like!

I don’t resonate with the other reviewers. I really like the Red Rocker. Have done it all — eaten there for dinner, stayed there and eaten for a weekend, and once brought a group of 40 teenagers to dine on a trip through NC. The dinner is a fabulous family-style, and the best part is the awesome desserts baked up daily in the kitchen. Breakfast is super, and the Reeses Peanut Butter pie is to die for. Don’t forget to call ahead; dining reservations are required.

I have never stayed here, but have eaten here. Very Pricey and nothing to write home about. I wouldn’t mind the price if the experience was good, but just like the food– the experience was mediocore. First, it is crowded with the tables pushed very close together and leaving little room for privacy. When you eat by the kitchen you can hear everything going on inside. The workers all have quite the mouths on them. Dinners are usually reservation only, so don’t count on walking in and eating. Management seems to get ticked when walk– ins arrive. Another poster said it too– the lady innskeeper is very rude and phoney. She has a tendency to talk down to everyone. I heard her talking behind a few guests backs numerous times. Her employees seemed scared of her. When visiting Black Mountain, I would leave this stop off your list.
