I checked this place out on a recent trip to Black Hawk. What drew me in was the big wheel outside that allowed you to spin it to get a prize on certain days, and I landed on $ 4 in free play, so I made my way inside to get a players card. Oh, what a riot. If you’re used to the bigger, newer properties down the road, you’re in for a treat here. Three floors with about 20 machines on each level, and an old skool wooden staircase leading to each floor. I was blown away to discover that the players club at the rear of the property was also a convenient store! Awesome find for sure, especially considering that the prices were as normal as a local 7 Eleven. So, I’ll give them five stars just for having that store there, as your only other options are limited to the high dollar casino gift shops within the city limits, along with Coyote Liquor and the Shell Station, which are both way down the road outside the border. It seemed to be one of the only casino properties in Black Hawk, and Colorado, for that matter, that allowed smoking indoors, so just a quick heads up that the ventilation was really bad. I think there’s a cigar bar in there somewhere that gives them special privileges to override current smoking laws. The place got packed after a little while, to a point where it got claustrophobic — there were a couple of dining tables packed into a small area literally inches from the banks of machines and the cashier cage. I’d compare the clientele to the Cal Neva in Reno and the old Gold Spike in Vegas. In other words, you probably won’t see any affluent high roller people in here, but lots of characters. Free entertainment to say the very least. Definitely worth checking out for a change of scenery.
