Dining at the Melting Pot was a great experience. My boyfriend and I went to celebrate my 21st birthday and this was our first experience with fondue cuisine. We went late, around 8. They had a birthday card ready for me when we sat down. Our server(Alecia) was very sweet and explained the menu to us. We ordered the 4 course meal mostly because of our unfamiliarity with the menu but it was well worth it. We were there for just over two hours but it was never boring! The cheese fondue course was one I could have skipped. We ordered the Quattro Formaggio and while it was delicious, the dippers were less than awesome. We picked the complimentary cooking style for the entrees; I ate the French Quarter and he the Surf and Turf. The server asked if I liked spicy food and sensing my hesitation suggested that I order it with light seasoning. It was DELICIOUS, still spicy, but amazing. I didn’t know we would be cooking our own food, but it was a fun part of the experience and didn’t take long at all. We ordered the classic milk chocolate dessert course and it was incredible as well. It is of course expensive but the portions were perfectly practical for all four courses. The bartender added so much value to the already great experience. Given my beginner knowledge of wine, we both wanted something light and fruity. I ordered a White Zinfandel and my boyfriend a Riesling. The bartender dropped off my drink and made sure we wanted that specific Riesling because most people want light and fruity and there was a better option on the menu. He brought us samples and we loved it. During our dessert course he brought by small«adult milkshakes» that were leftover from the day that I assume he would have to throw away anyway. I was so surprised and it was very kind! The ONLY negative I have is that the dinning room was very loud. I don’t know if there were just loud parties around us or if it has to do with the set up of the restaurant but that was frustrating. Still a fantastic experience! Will be coming back.

Always great food and service! Love the wine and cocktail selection! A manager always swings by to make sure we are enjoying our meal. This place is definitely great for date night.

I’m not a big fan of chains but nothing really compares to Melting Pot. I’ve had great service every time I’ve gone. There are menu staples that I love and new items that I like to try. I would say that even for the price you do get a LOT of food. Just go for the 3 course meal and you’ll have an excellent time. I was not expecting this but I had a cucumber watermelon cocktail here over the summer that was incredibly divine. I would go as far to say it was one of the best cocktails I’ve ever had. Give me a few of those and a cheese course on repeat and I’d be the happiest person ever!

The concept is ideal, but doesn’t really work like it should. Let me start out by saying that the cheese and chocolate is fantastic! Salad is flavorful as well. However, the idea of a plate of raw meat being served on a wooden board is almost more than I personally can bear. The shrimp is easy because it cooks fast. The other meats take forever to cook and you still feel like it’s raw. There is little to no flavor. If I ever go back, I will order either no meat or shrimp only. A great place to go for appetizers or desserts. Plan to be there for at least two hours. Service was not great

My husband and I decided to come here for a date night and it was one of the best times we have had. From start to finish our experience was amazing. We called ahead and made reservations. We showed up about 30 minutes early and they seated us right away. Our server was Thomas, amazing, and the manager was Stephanie, outstanding. Stephanie came up to our table and took our drink orders and made some great recommendations for martinis, the Dirty D is my husbands favorite(with extra olives of course). Shortly after Thomas came to the table and gave us some pointers of cheese and told us about the season special. We ordered the Classic Alpine cheese fondue with the extra dipping meats. The cheese had a great bite and the summer sausage and prosciutto were fantastic with it. Our main course was the Summer Seafood Catch and the Fondue Fusion. The«old bay» cooking style was great with the variety of meats(lobster, shrimp, scallops, duck, chicken). For dessert we had the Yin&Yang chocolate fondue(dark and white chocolate). I honestly don’t know where we found room to eat that, but we did. Mid way through, the Manager Stephanie brought out a box of 6 chocolate covered strawberries(currently in my freezer) and said they were on the house, though I still think my husband had something to do with it. Our whole experience lasted about 2 hours. We laughed and had a great time with everyone that came to our table. For a wonderful date night consider the Melting Pot off 280 in Birmingham. The service, drinks, food, ambiance, everything was top notch. Just make sure you ask for Thomas.

Loved it! The staff here is friendly! The food was delicious. And the experience, is like no other I’ve been to. This was my second trip here and won’t be my last. It’s a pretty long experience. Don’t expect to be in and out quickly. But if you’re looking for a good experience and you have some money to burn, don’t let this place pass you by.

Drinks are well priced and they had a great selection, but the food was average at best and way overpriced for what it was. For example, the cheese fondue came with a small bowl of raw veg that looked as though it had fallen out of a microwave veg mix bag from Walmart. The cheese itself was, well, cheese. Nothing more or less. They tried to tart it up with a verbose explanation of the various cheeses but we could see through that. I just never came away thinking ‘X was delicious!!’ or ‘I’d really like to eat Y again’. The dining experience overall was fun, interesting, and not something you would generally see on any street in the world, however, which was a plus. I wouldn’t recommend it based solely on that though. The waiting staff and the bartender were exceptional — knowledgeable and friendly. Probably a great place if you are with a birthday or prom group or if somebody else was paying.

Excellent food and service. Fondue is a lot of fun; but not if you are in a hurry. Plan on at least a two hour experience.

Oh, so good! Whenever we can afford to go here or we get a Groupon, this is where we have date night dinner. Everything about this place it great. The staff is some of the nicest I’ve ever encountered. ALL the food is great. It takes a while to go through all the courses, so this is not recommended for a first date… lol Perfect for a date with someone very special though. And if nothing else, get dessert!!! Sometimes we come here just for a chocolate fix.
