Food is absolutely delicious but it is pricey. Fresh squeezed orange juice is on the menu and it won my heart over. You order at the counter and grab a table, if one is available. One thing I did not like is that you blindly tip them at the counter for service and food you have no idea about since it is brought out to you shortly after paying. The pear bis-cake and the bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit are both heavenly. We would definitely come back again, but not regularly just because it is pricey.

Amazing food here and the best coffee shop in town. Coffee: They use freshly roasted beans from Octane here in Birmingham but the baristas here are better than Octane’s. Their macchiato is legit and their americano is perfect. This is the place for coffee snobs trying to find a place that does it right. Food: The biscuits are absolutely fantastic. The menu is very well chosen. They put care into everything and have great presentation. This is the kind of place you want to work through the menu. The specials are always worth a shot too. I’m here about once a week. Quality is consistent.

My latte was bitter. I was not able to drink it because it made me shiver from bitter after bite with each sip. Three plain biscuits cost $ 11.00. Yes, they were delectable… But not worth the cost. I probably will not return.

Lets keep this simple. Bacon Du Jour… Best. Biscuit. Ever. Anywhere. Period. You should eat one.

I have to say, I’ve been a bit skiddish of the place given it’s mixed reviews and that the consensus of complaints is a lack of value. Hence why this past Sunday’s visit was our first. The interior is small and bright with some communal and some private seating. It was busy but not overly so and we were able to order quickly after assessing the menu. The beau got a ‘Standard’ and I opted for a ‘Ham and Cheese’. We each ordered a latte. First impression: woweee spendy coffee! $ 4+ for a modestly sized latte seems pretty steep given the in-town competition. However, we were an un-caffeinated captive audience so we had no choice: c’est la vie. When the biscuits came out I was pleasantly surprised that they did seem sizable enough to, maybe, merit the high price. Both were tasty, served hot and were filling. Was I absolutely floored? No. It was a biscuit, a tasty and locally sourced one no doubt, but it’s just a biscuit. Maybe I need to risk a $ 12 fancy special to be completely bowled over but I just wasn’t ready to risk it on this day. We’ll be back but will likely pre-game with homemade coffee so that we can justify splurging on a couple of the more complex specials next time.

The biscuits we had were really delicious! I had the biscuits and gravy, my wife had the pecan honey and goat cheese biscuit. Yes, we paid about $ 30 including coffee and tips, but this isn’t Taco Bell — it’s worth what you pay for. We really liked the décor as well, and the staff was super friendly and nice to us. The portions are a little too small to split between two people, but otherwise are generous, neither of us left hungry, and my wife couldn’t even finish her dish.

Very overpriced, and not too impressive. Ingredients are fine, but really just paying like $ 15 bucks for a very small biscuit just isn’t appealing. Looks nice inside though.

Hang on. Just another second, please. Sorry. I was busy licking my plate. I know the tennis skirt crowd was appalled, but the biscuit and coffee were just that good. On the other hand, had I actually paid for it, I would have rated it three stars. Considering the prices, they’re awfully proud. Then again, it’s several multiples better than something you’d get at Hardee’s, so maybe there is some logic to the pricing.

It has been a few months since the two of us visited. We each ordered a biscuit and water(free tap, not bottled). It came to nearly $ 30. We started looking around to see how big these biscuits would be. Very disappointed when they arrived at the table. We make from scratch biscuits regularly and know how much it costs. I appreciate they use fresh local ingredients and serve unique creations, just not sure why they feel the need to gouge with the prices. The rating of $$ needs to change to $$$. The price may meet some guideline but the amount of food you get is very small.

Here’s a biscuit. You’re stupid. This is where I say I spent almost $ 30 on two small biscuits. And tipped almost 3 bucks for it to be walked over to the table(you have to order it at the cash register or I would have tipped six bucks and be dealing with even more shame and self-loathing.) The biscuits were delicious and creative and(maybe) made from whole wheat. This is also where I say you can put butter, cheese, roasted pecans, honey, sorghum and maple syrup on Wonder Bread and it will be pretty dang marvelous. But honest to goodness for that price I thought I would be taking half of this mighty biscuit home in a to-go box and eating on it for the next 3 days. This was definitely not the case. Three bucks for a cup of coffee and no Splenda(Stevia gives me a stomach ache). No 2% milk to put in the coffee – just a tiny non-insulated stainless pitcher of half and half. The Starbucks prep counter is tons more lavish and probably more temperature-safe. Octane coffee is delicious but acidic and needs lots of milk for my palate. I love me some specialty foods and pay for them happily. But the overall atmosphere is just contrived, shabby and sparse and not remotely indulgent as the price might suggest.

I really love this place. I have gotten the Croquet Madame both times I’ve been, and it is fantastic! The biscuits are whole wheat which makes you feel like you’re being healthy, their ham is always fresh, the cheese and sauces are just right, but what really puts this meal over the top is their perfectly poached eggs. Every meal and espresso drink are picture worthy, and the atmosphere is gorgeous. You are sitting in a homestyle room that is covered in reclaimed wood with beautiful red painted accent pieces. The staff had always been incredibly friendly and clearly love where hey work. I highly recommend coming here for breakfast or brunch.

I took my parents here when they came to visit. It was highly recommended. They were crazy busy but we happened to be able to snag the booth at the window as a family was leaving just as we walked in. I give the décor 5 stars. I give the creativity of the menu 5 stars. However, I felt for the portions we received this place was a bit too pricey. Overall experience, it was way too loud, there are no soft surfaces in there to absorb any sound whatsoever. And it’s very crowded, which I get is a good thing since it’s so tasty and popular… they’ve obviously outgrown the space. But I just don’t enjoy having people in line with their butts 5″ from me while I’m seated to eat. It’s also frustrating that you have to wait til you get to the counter to view the menu, on little clipboards, which also causes anxiety because you’ve got 20 people in line behind you hangry and ready to order. Cool digital menus optimized for sight and readable from the moment you walk in would be ideal for this joint. The bathroom situation is unusual, I hate one toilet bathrooms, I have this innate fear and panic that maybe I didn’t lock the door or the lock doesn’t function properly… and people always jiggle the knob to see if anyone is in there. It makes me so freaking panicky. Especially when like this place, the door is in plain sight of the dining room and if by any fluke chance the lock isn’t functioning and that impatient person needing the bathroom opens the door… the entire restaurant gets a glimpse of me pants down worshiping the porcelain throne. It’s just bad design. I liked my meal. But it was very expensive for what we got. This will definitely not be anywhere I go regularly.

Def heard about this place from my friends so I had to try it! The place is ducked off in a little place behind the summit. It truly is a good place Togo to when you have those breakfast cravings around lunch time. The staff is nice but the food is better. I got the sausage egg and cheese and my mom got the Bologna biscuit. I loved the rich and FLUFFINESS(if that’s a word) of the biscuit. As a whole it is the best biscuit I have ever had however as a sandwich it is not the best biscuit sandwich but still great! My mom doesn’t not like fried things so naturally she didn’t like the deep fried bologna biscuit but I did lol! I Def recommend this place!

I found this place in the magazine About Town a few years and we can’t stop coming here. We love the pecan honey goat cheese biscuit, man it blew my taste buds away. Sweet and salty all in 1 bite! Well worth a try, we bring all of our out town guests here for breakfast or brunch! I also get a bowl of oatmeal that comes with fresh pecans and honey! We also the almond butter and jelly biscuit. Everything always tastes fresh.

I WANTED so much to like this place — it’s open early on Sunday, and what’s not to love about a really great biscuit? Well, I suppose nothing … the problem is that their biscuits just aren’t for me. They are dry and crumbly — and that is all. Very little flavor. I had the Pear Bis-cake and, while the pear butter and mascarpone cream gave the biscuit enough moisture to hold together so I could eat it, the overall taste was too sweet. It was a disappointment. My friend got the«fried bologna» biscuit, made with mortadella. The mortadella was sliced super-thin and fried to a crisp — so the end result was a crumbly biscuit with crumbly meat, very awkward to eat. The tab, with OJ and water, was $ 31, which I found SHOCKING — our biscuits were about $ 9-$ 10 each, so the OJ must have been quite expensive. I will not be back, and am sad, because this is such a convenient place. Next time we’ll just go to Another Broken Egg or wait for Five or Dyron’s to open for brunch.

Came here for breakfast on a rainy Saturday. It is small inside, and the décor is really cute. You pay at the counter and then awkwardly wait for someone at a table to leave while you pray your food doesn’t come out beforehand(some people grab seats before ordering… which messes everything up). I had the croquet madame, which was great… but a not as filling as I would hope for the price. I wouldn’t come here with more than 3 – 4 people.

The Alabama Biscuit Co. knows how to do biscuits. The unique flavor combinations are perfectly put together and the coffee is great as well. It’s more of a casual place to dine, but the farmhouse feel of the restaurant is very welcoming!

Welcome to the Osmium Biscuit Company, the densest biscuits in the known universe! I was really looking forward to this place, but IMO its overrated with a Capital O. I was encouraged by the photos, and the crowd suggested we were in the right place. Cant say I’m a fan of these biscuits, I feel like I’ve got a lead weight in my tummy. Or maybe thats the gravy that was the consistency of wallpaper paste. and tasted just as bad. And that wasn’t even a close facsimile of gravy, it was a stringy, flavorless, unseasoned roux, and it was awful. My daughter had a sausage and biscuit, she didn’t complain but the eye-roll I got when she saw what passes for sausage at this place told me all I needed to know. I think it had been sitting around for a while, wasn’t browned, and tasted more like a veggie burger than pork sausage. Come to think of it, I don’t think its actually advertised as «pork,» I can guarantee its not. $ 10 biscuits, $ 2.75 for coffee and I didn’t see anybody get a refill the whole time we were there and I’ll be damned if I could tell you how to get one. Also there is no salt and pepper anywhere to be found, so bring your own, or just stay away, which is my recommendation. So many better options for breakfast in Birmingham. 2 stars factoring in my kid’s generous rating. BTW, don’t be seduced by these photos, and read the bad reviews first… There’s plenty of them to go around.

BLUF: The biscuits are good but they skipped its simplicity for fancy which hurts it in my book. Biscuits are in the name but they don’t have biscuits and gravy… borderline illegal. Small place in a stripmall. Walk up to the cashier to order and then find a seat. There is no order here so some people will stake a seat before ordering which is aggravating because it is busy and seats are hard to get. IMO you must order before getting a table. The menu has a few things on it; mainly different biscuit meals(pbj, maple syrup/pecans, sausage egg and cheese, ham… etc). They were all definitely good. Good dense biscuits and the toppings were good as well. Nothing mind blowing though. You also have to eat the sandwiches with a knife and fork which is slightly annoying. My main beef with this place is biscuits are a simple southern staple that this place made too fancy. No biscuits and gravy is where they lost pretty much all their points with me. Then I had to eat my sandwich with a knife and for like a «reverse savage». I like how they had the fancy options and they were tasty but they shouldnt have abandon the staples. The food was good but not good enough.

Totally impressed! Absolutely fantastic experiance! 4 stars because they did seem a little pricey and they said they ran out of heavy cream and ½&1/2, so I had to drink my coffee black(which is my traditional way anyway). This cheat day(Sunday) we decided to head the biscuit place. It was rather difficult decision(fantastic selection/menu of old school and custom modern biscuits) choosing but we settled with old fashion biscuits and gravy(I wanted to order like 5 thinks but that kinda carb overload for us would have been a tragedy). They seem to use different varieties of flour — sprouted spelt, grain free, etc. Coffee is from local roaster and shop; Octain. The Venue: Casual and quaint little place with lots of wood grain and open ceilings — a little rustic meets bright color. Good all around clean and simple set up that was a good experience from the door to the counter. The Goods: I can’t brag enough! The amount of gravy was so perfect that it left me begging for more. Sprouted spelt biscuit and a brown ham and pepper gravy. Go get you one! The Peeps: casual and pleasant staff, warm and inviting. We’ll DEFINITELY be back on another cheat day to indulge(: … until next Sunday. Ciao Ciao
