I’ve been going to this market basket since I moved to billerica about 4yrs now and can say that since the whole family issue the quality has gone down… you can barely get down the isle because they stock during the day, They carry way too many MB brands which are not known for being the best and everything I bought in the frozen section seems to be freezer burnt, I wrote in here not too long ago that I bought some purdue chicken and it was rotten when I opened it the next day …

They often leave expired food out in the shelves, and have items mistagged or not tagged at all. Even on a Saturday morning(they should have prices correct as new sale weeks start here on Sunday), I’ve found pricing stickers that show lower prices than shelf tags and it’s tough to know which one to believe. I believe pricing is a bit higher than other stores once you exclude the lower quality items than only Market Basket but no other stores carry(and comparable if they are included), and quality and service is below their competition because there’s no other grocers in Billerica.

This review and 1 star are directed only at the deli counter employees. They all seem to have the attitude that they are doing the customers a favor by taking their orders. Rare is «may I help you?», rarer still is «thank you». They seem annoyed by slicing meats/cheeses, their stance seems to be that they would rather be doing anything else. Maybe they should take another job and leave slicing meats/cheeses to people who know that customers are the reason they are employed.

This is pretty much your typical Market backet chain but lacking in a meat shaver and other commodities mostly in the foreign section. One definite con of this place is that they’re cashiers don’t know how to bag things — hence the one star. Throwing canned items on top of eggs while packing isn’t a great way to treat a customer and this isnt just one time. Michelle for 7 years should finally learn how to place groceries in a bag.

I love the Market Basket prices, but would prefer a better organized store. This store has very friendly staff members(as does the orher Billerica store), and it’s fun to see them dress up for each holiday and special event. Right now the stores are doing an extra 4% savings campaign so you save even more on purchases. The two Billerica MB stores are laid out the same(for the lost part), which makes it very easy to find things(even though items are placed in off locations). I do wish I could find a few more name brand items at the store(shampoo, shaving, and hygiene items are limited), but that’s the price you pay for shopping cheap. Overall, a great place to shop for grocery items!

I visited this particular Market Basket tonight. In relation to all the other supermarkets in the area and in particular, one I visited earlier in the evening, I would give this place an «A-OK». However, compared to the 3 other Market Baskets that I know of and regularly visit, I would have to give this particular place a «Meh. I’ve experienced better.» My first impression upon entering this store was that it was cramped. For some reason, only 2 checkout lanes were open but the annoying part was that all the other lanes and passageways were blocked with shopping carts. As such, I had to walk along the width of the store from the entrance in order to actually enter the shopping area. I was hoping that this store would have a particular brand of whole chicken but alas, it did not have it. This wasn’t unexpected though as I’ve only seen it at one of the MB’s. Still, it was a disappointment as that was the whole purpose of visiting tonight. A surprisingly good thing was that there seemed to be fresh bread here which nudged my rating of it to a 3.

God damn this place is cheap. And dirty. But still, it’s cheap. We get our staples here because really, the prices are rock bottom. Rarely will we buy meat or produce here though – there are so many other places to get it, and it’s better quality elsewhere. This location can get crowded on the weekends and the aisles are small, but if you go outside peak grocery hours you’ll be fine.

I love Market Basket. I didn’t know of its glories until I lived on my own. I’m very spoiled by my own Market Basket in Danvers, MA, but this location was convenient for me to stop at this morning. My first impression was that the layout is odd. Some chips were in one row, and some in another. Some toiletry supplies were in one aisle and some were in another. It was confusing. The aisles here are incredibly tiny, and on a Sunday morning, the local MB shoppers(lots of Soccer Moms) felt the need to frequently stop and chat with other shoppers or to unsuccessfully discipline their children. What was truly shocking is that some of these people saw me standing there with my cart, looking annoyed and went back to their conversations, forcing me to have to back out of the aisle on 2 separate occasions and seek alternate routes to the Digestive Tea Cookies(yeah, I said that). The MB employees also seemed to take up a lot more room than usual in the aisles here. I found the selection at this location to be similar to that in Danvers, and the checkout was no different. I’ll come back here if/when necessary, but I highly prefer the location which is(luckily) closest to me.

I am a huge fan of Market Basket in general. Yes, its crowded and they don’t stock as many varieties as Stop and Shop or Shaws, but for these prices, I don’t need ten brands of peanut butter to choose from! We all know I’m just going to go with the cheapest anyways so why try to tempt me with ten types of Skippy? I discovered the wonders of Market Basket when I started working in Billerica years ago. This particular store is now«my» store as I pass by it on the way home from work. Compared to the other MB locations nearby, I find it to be the cleanest. I did have one negative experience at the seafood counter which lost them one star. As we all know, lobster is dirt cheap right now, so I wanted to get two steamed lobsters. The seafood counter guy(hereby known as SCG) told me it’d be a 40 minute wait. Apparently, the low price of lobster had inspired the the woman in front of me in line to host a giant lobster party that night and she was having like 20 lobsters cooked. So, logically, I said«well, can I place an order for two and come pick them up in 40 minutes?» SCG’s reply was«No.» WHAT?! Without even thinking I replied«Well then you’re pretty useless to me, aren’t you?» and walked out of the store. I didn’t even buy the rest of my groceries there I was so taken aback. Of course, I was nervous to show my face there again. I was sure word of my outburst had gotten around and I had been blacklisted from the store. Thankfully, I wasn’t and I continue to shop there almost daily. I’d like to emphasize that that was the only negative experience I’ve had at this location. I know that was a lot of negativity for a four star review. I really do enjoy shopping here and my wallet thanks me for it. I will definitely be returning here… tomorrow most likely.
