We went last year on the sleigh ride and it was a highlight of our trip. This year was a total disappointment. To start, we asked about buying wine and were told we could go to the saloon to purchase if we wanted a larger selection than was available in the check in center. We asked about it in the saloon and the man behind the bar was rude and said we should just buy it in the check in as the correct pairings were there. We later found out he was the dining manager :( The waitress in the dining room was very sweet and attentive. Unfortunately my husband had asked for an alternative main course as he’s allergic to beef. The chicken breast was so dry that it was inedible. He didn’t want to complain so just ate the sides. I asked the nice waitress about it and she was sweet and cooked a piece of salmon. The prime rib that the rest of us ate was just ok. Last year my kids thought it was the best thing they’d ever eaten. This year it was fatty and poorly cooked. The asparagus was mushy and my husband said it tasted canned. All other sides were good. We had a party of 9 and they seated 2 nice women with us. It was odd because another table had 2, another 6, etc. Our table had 11 which led us to stack bowls on top of each other. While we didn’t mind the ladies sitting with us, I’m sure they would have rather sat at a table without 6 kids. It’s another example of a poorly planned evening. Last year’s singing cowboy was much more engaging. A night that cost $ 800 plus should have been fabulous but instead largely a disappointment. We will not be back.

We went on the sleigh ride dinner last night. Had horrible customer service – $ 106 per person for cold prime rib and undercooked broccolini AND pit toilet one holer for 50 people. We went with friends and they refused to let us ride in the sleigh together or sit together at dinner. What a disappointment.

I enjoyed lunch with my mom here as she stayed for a week. We had made separate trips from WV that happened to intersect in Big Sky. There aren’t words for the scenery and setting of the ranch. You can only appreciate the scale and majesty if you’ve seen the Rockies for yourself. The lunch was excellent and enjoyed on the patio listening to the stream flow nearby. My mom has had nothing but wonderful things to say about her stay there. It was the fulfillment of a lifelong dream. To anyone considering a ranch vacation, I would highly recommend Lone Mountain Ranch.

If you want the customer service to be as fabulous as the scenery, Lone Mountain Ranch is the place to go! I just went to cross country ski for the day, but compared to the other places I’d been to, the staff at Lone Mountain made all the difference. They are helpful, enthusiastic and pile on the extra TLC if that’s what you need… and being a nervous beginner, that is what I needed!(and the scenery is the best you can get)

I have been to Lone Mountain Ranch for a summer wedding and then their sleigh ride dinner this winter. What an amazing and beautiful place! The staff here are attentive and friendly. The food is outstanding and I would highly recommend the sleigh ride dinner experience. It well deserves the 5 star rating!

Lone Mountain Ranch is exactly what we pictured — gravel roads, horses, and wood-logged cabins. The cabins are rustic but have every day luxuries like brand new bathrooms fixtures and Gilchrist & Soames toiletries. We stayed in the Blackbear and Cougar Cabin, a two-bedroom cabin with door connection at the bathrooms. The bedrooms were different. Cougar had a wood stove with a queen bed, twin bed, chair, and couch. Blackbear had a queen bed, bunk bed, chair, and couch. Depending on your party, Lone Mountain Ranch can find the right accommodations for you. The cabins also retain their heat so if you need some cooling, just pop open the windows to let the natural mountain air in. A couple of amenities you won’t find are telephones or televisions. This is a place where you stay and escape from the business/technology world and become one with nature. The sounds of the forest and the mountains put you in a zen-like state so the cravings of technology will subside in time.

This was the best, best, best vacation I’ve ever had! We attended in August of 2014. Hiking, horseback riding, fantastic food and people, huckleberries, fly fishing, massage, yoga, rafting, archery, Yellowstone, critters and the most gorgeous scenery I’ve ever seen. My 16 year old son made me promise I’ll bring him back next summer and I can’t argue! It is very family oriented but there were couples and singletons as well. Everyone was welcome! I look at my pictures just about every week because I can’t believe I went to a place so incredibly magical! The staff? The BESTEVER! I swear! When you go, email me and just try to tell me I’m wrong!

A group of 10 of us just got back from doing the sleigh ride dinner. Most of us in the group had done it before a time or two, but it was still an amazing experience. The staff were all awesome and the food was great. We had so much fun, we’ll be making this a yearly thing.

Possibly the best Nordic skiing of my life, and I live near some super x country ski trails in NH. Trails beautifully groomed, staff very helpful. The trails into the mountains are just spectacular. Highly recommended, plus a really nice and inexpensive lunch right on the property.

We took the Sleigh Ride dinner evening experience and enjoyed the heck out of it. Definitely a must do. There was a long waiting list for the holidays, so we were pretty sad about missing out — but we kept our name on the list anyway — then we got a call to join them for the dinner/sleigh ride. Such fun. Great people and really great dinner — with a personable chef at that. Don’t miss this experience… it’s a bit touristy, yes. But a lot of fun.
