Super friendly staff! We asked about bear spray and got a very useful 10 minute tutorial. After the lesson we got a few tips about hiking in the area, best trails, etc… We also picked up a few clothing items from their large selection of top brand names. If we need anything else during our stay we will be sure to stop by first!

My wife and I were shopping for skin boots in Big Sky. There are a lot of fitters that have a good understanding of woman’s ski boots, but Marc at Grizzly outfitters was exceptional. Not only did he have a good feel for boots, but he also had a good handle on the human foot. He was far and away the best we worked with throughout the day. We paid a bit more than internet prices, but feel it is worth it. Marc has it figured out!

I have spent a few days in Big Sky and wanted to rent a mountain bike. Grizzly was a great shop to do this. Guys there were friendly and helpful. Overall a great experience. Highly recommend!

My son and I rented bikes from this shop this June, while visiting Big Sky. The bikes were amazing and the shop is right next to a great trail for off-​roading. It was a bit of a hill climb for me and my teenager but really fun any way. We made it up the hill to the Ousel Falls trail and that was a challenge in itself too. I wouldn’t recommend that since there are lots of walkers on the trail most of the time but still OK for us today.
Will was a big help in picking and sizing our rides and even allowed my son to switch from a full suspension mountain bike to a hybrid when we wanted to try out the local bike path. My boy is in the process of deciding on his next bike, so that was extra cool of them. We were super happy with our rentals and would recommend the shop to anyone else in the area. Thanks guys!

I have to give Grizzly Outfitters 1 star. I am a 50 something woman who skis hard 60 to 70 days per year and I wanted new skis and bindings. I went in 3 separate times to look at, demo, and buy skis. The guy who helped me pick out skis to demo was super nice and helpful. I ended up not buying skis even though I loved them because the last time I went to Grizzly prepared to buy skis and bindings, the guy who waited on me (he appeared to mainly work in the in the shop — not retail side of the store) tried to make me pay double the price they quoted me for the demos, and wouldn’t honor the price they quoted me for skis and bindings. The guy accused me of lying about the quoted price. He said he had to leave the retail room and go back to the shop part where he worked or he might do me harm. He was extremely rude to me from the time I got out of my car until I left the shop. Get a written quote, take some men with you, and take names if you want to deal with this shop. Other ski shops in Big Sky have lovely customer service — not this one!

Incredible staff and great quality rentals!
My mom and I came here to rent some snowshoes. Great price for snowshoe rentals $ 12/​day and the staff member told us that they’re very lenient with the turn in time. He said if we dropped it off in the morning the next day, we wouldn’t have to worry about late fees. We’d only be charged for the one whole day we used them.
On top of the rentals, the staff was excited to help us with any of our needs. They even took a look at my brother’s broken glasses to see if they could fix them. Unfortunately, they couldn’t but they gave us some recommendations for places in Bozeman and went on to say that Bozeman has some great spots that we could enjoy while we’re there (Bozeman is about an hour away from Big Sky so don’t expect to go to and from and try skiing afterwards). They said they’d be happy to share their favorite areas and added that we can call them anytime to ask where the local hotspots are.
Excellent Customer Service and Excellent Rental Prices. I’d definitely come here next time I’m in Big Sky.

I used Grizzly’s for both boot fitting and ski rental. Great service from knowledgeable staff. I also tried Lone Mountain Sports, but prefered Grizzly’s for their knowledge and speed.

Good selection of outdoor gear. However every time I have dealt with someone here they like to belittle and have a «if we don’t sell it, its complete crap» attitude. They seem to treat everyone as if they are an idiot tourist with no clue.

Stopped in to check on bike rentals. Make this your first and only stop for biking! Amazingly helpful and friendly staff. Great selection of bikes for rent and sale. Mountain, hybrid, and road bikes are available. Mark offered advice on gear, bike fitting, and local information including trail advice. Grizzly has a great selection of soft goods and offers service as well. They also offer much more than biking.

Techs that know their stuff, (as an understatement). Fair prices and good selection for random stuff (found a swim suit here in the middle of the winter).

I’ve grew up in Colorado and consider myself a fairly knowledgeable skier when it comes to goods and services. Between Colorado, Utah, and Montana, this is one of my favorite ski shops.
Now that I live in Midwest, I no longer travel with my skis. It’s too much of a pain, and I like to change my skis depending on the current conditions. As a result, I place a lot of value on ski shops that have a wide selection of hi-​end demos. Grizzly carries a good selection of well known brands like Rossignol, K2, Dynastar etc, but also a handful of really awesome smaller brands like Rocky Mountain Underground and DPS. The prices and selection is better than what you’ll find on the mountain. I tried 3 different skis in 6 days as the conditions varied from powder to crud to hard pack. Each ski tech I encountered was very helpful in making suggestions and getting me set up. Plus is you have a little one, 10 yrs or younger I beleive, they get free basic ski rentals. Perfect for my 3 yr old!
But this is not just a rental shop mind you. The other side of Grizzly Outfitters carries some of the latest and greatest gear around. Whoever is doing the buying here has great taste. Awesome selection of everything and the customer service is second to none. I tweaked my knee one day and Melinda, who happened to study Kinesiology, helped me tape up my knee with Kinesio tape. She saved my trip and I couldn’t be more grateful!

These guys know their shit…
Went in there as my 2 weeks of skiing a year (at best) have kept me demoing skis for the past 5 seasons. Usually rent from these guys as their prices are solid and I can go in and try different skis based on the condition of the snow. Their shop guys really have tried all of the latest models and are happy to give you their insight.
I had an issue with my boots — a 10 year old pair of Nordicas — and asked if they had a boot guru. They sent me over to Ross and i can say that he is a total magician. Rather then tell me that I needed to cough up a huge amount of money to get new boots, he told me that the issue was in the liners and helped me get fitted for a new set while still using the old boots. Man what a difference — no hot spots, totally comfortable and couldn’t be happier. Thanks for all your help guys!

Good prices and good service on the rentals. Best bet is to rent here instead of on the mountain. Just a short drive from the resort.

Nice place and friendly staff. It doesn’t get 5 because of a poor waxing job and bad excuse of why a missed gash in the board wasn’t able to be repaired. For $ 45 I would like all dings repaired.

This is about as good as it gets when it comes to outdoor clothing and equipment in Big Sky. Grizzly carries major brands like Patagonia, Marmot, Ugg, Chacos, Timex, Suunto, Bogner, the list goes on…
Aside from great clothing and accessories, Grizzly also will do custom footbeds and boot fitting, tuning, repaors, and rentals. It really is a great one stop shop for men, women and children. I love that they are just as packed with inventory in the Summer as when the snow flies. Fun happens all year long in MT and Grizzly is a great place to gear up for it!
