I’ve been going up to Big Bear for many a winter, but I’m still pretty much an obvious outsider/tourist. My experience with natives/longtime locals is that they’re either really friendly, or really not. Although some of the«nots» can be drawn out if you are not an ass of a tourist. At Our Town, the super-friendly owners were so sweet and welcoming and just the right kind of chatty — volunteered some recommendations on local restaurants, including some I’d never tried before. I went in for some snacks and wine. The wine recommendation from the owner turned out to be great. I also went into another convenience store on Pine Knot during my last stay. Polar opposite experience — borderline unfriendly. NOTE: All the convenience store prices in Big Bear are pretty high — if you need a lot of stuff, you’ll do better to go down the Blvd. to Stater Bros.(which seems cheaper to me than the Vons across the street from it.) But for convenience, Our Town can’t be beat.

Love this little Liquor store and the man behind the counter was a sweetheart. I gor 2 bottles of Vodka and some OJ for about $ 30. What a deal. They had UV Vodka, I’ve tried it once before in Denver but I’ve never seen Cherry so we gave that a whirl. It was only $ 10! Smirnoff and OJ were a must for Shiho Sunrises(splash of Champagne) !
