I love this place because everything is sooo good! Plus they have a tea bar where you can smell the tea options before making your choice.

We were driving by this place when my wife noticed the sign for soups and sandwiches. This place is a hidden gem. The décor is let’s say – original – it truly is a tea room. Every square inch is decorated with figurines and trinkets – definitely an acquired taste but I give them points for originality and the guts to do whatever they feel like. The food: spectacular! The owner is also the chef and all recipes are homemade and you can tell in the taste. I ordered an Italian sausage sandwich which came loaded with peppered caramelized onions and the cheddar cheese was soaked through the bread. The soup is without a doubt the best soup I’ve ever had(and that’s saying a lot): Italian potato w kale in a cream sauce. Who the f— gave this place LESS than 5 stars for quality of food alone??? Yes, the atmosphere is a little bit like Alice in Wonderland meets Willy Wonka but the food!!! Also the tea– served brewed from actual tea herbs, not bags and served piping hot. The piece de resistance: your girl can pick and wear any hat she wants. Will recommend this to anyone willing to listen

We came here for Afternoon Tea on the way back home. Such an adorable little place run by a wonderful couple. The scones were TODIEFOR. Also loved how you go grab your container of tea for them to make. We will be back, highly suggest you come here.

Cute and charming tea room in Big bear. Their Food and scone were so delicious. The owner couple are so nice. Too bad, they told us that they are going to retire soon.

This review is for lunch(not their reservations-only tea service). The food was bland and unseasoned. The iced tea at this tea room, was just awful. — You can get better ice tea from a can in the grocery store, and you only have a choice of black or something like passion fruit. — They can’t/won’t make you iced tea by the glass from any of their large selection of teas, unlike many nice tea and coffee houses. Also, everything in the place is for sale and has a tag on it, which just looks tacky. I mean, in the bathroom the table that had a small plant on it was for sale as was the plant(both with little price tags on it). Though the paper towel and soap dispensers, and bathroom wastebasket were not for sale, so I guess there are three things not nailed down in the store that the owners aren’t trying to hawk.

Tried to stop in here for a quick cup the Saturday afternoon before Easter. Confronted by a sign on the door reading«$ 8 minimum per person. No exceptions!» So we walked.

My husband & I couldnt help but stop here for lunch on our way down the mountain, the charming exterior caught our eyes right away! The inside was just as charming as the outside and so was the service! We were impressed at the couple who own it and their friendly service, so personable, and how they make and decorate everything themselves! Like any place that offers afternoon tea, it was a bit pricey so we just shared a Queens salad and lemon cake, but it was worth it for the experience!

We have been coming here for the past 5 years on our annual Big Bear trips. Each year we have become more and more disappointed with the prices, food and service. There is an $ 8 minimum per person notice on the door which is kinda odd, after ordering a few($ 7.95 each scones, yes, that much). The server notified me that we weren’t at our minimum yet even though my father in law wasn’t eating. We proceeded to order more to accommodate the minimum yet the server made sure to remove his tea cup from in front of him to insure he didn’t partake in the tea pot that was designated for 2 people. Nothing sat well with me at all and unfortunately this tradition has come to an end as of TODAY.

Food was good(the soup was delicious), but there was something lacking(partially with the service with the difficulty in ordering). Definitely a cute little place with a lovely aroma to it

We were visiting Big Bear and decided to try this place because it looked nice from outside and had good Unilocal reviews. We made a reservation. Despite a busy Sunday in the city, it was almost empty. It’s a very nice tea room; they have many items for sale. There were tables at the middle, surrounded by many fancy gifts for sale. They also had a great tea collection. I tried blue lady earl grey, it was very good. We ordered food, I picked soup and sandwich. Both were delicious. Food was not very pricey, I would say reasonable. Service was okay, little slow and the older lady was little rude, so I am cutting one star. There is parking around the building. We also tried a scone and it was good. We each got a bowl of tea is little pricey. Everything looked nice.

Came here for lunch because I am a tea lover and heard about this place so decided to give it a try. Got there before it opened so had to wait outside for a few minutes, no biggie. When the door was opened I noticed a sign on the door that had a dollar amount minimum per person. Not really a fan of that first impression. I think that really cheapens a place when you are forced to order a specific dollar amount of food, but went in anyways. Very cute décor inside. Lots of tea sets and stuff for purchase. Sat down and checked out the menu. They offered afternoon tea and some others. We were interested but were told you had to make a reservation which we did not have but they were nice enough to offer to go ahead and accomodate us for the afternoon tea. In the end we decided against it because the server explained it to us and it sounded like a very small portion of food for how expensive it was. We ended up getting tea, cottage pie, and the special sandwich of the day. It was all yummy. Still a little pricey though. The service was good and the owner came out and talked to us for a bit. She was really nice. We also bought a scarf before leaving. I would definitely come back for the tea and to relax for a bit but sadly I think a pot of tea wont add up to their dollar minimum per person :(

This tea room was one of the reasons we bought a vacation house in Big Bear! So far, we’ve gone every visit to the mountain. We have been extremely pleased each time. The family running the business is very sweet and accommodating. The first visit we ordered sandwiches off the main menu since we didn’t have a reservation. They were great! Since then we’ve had regular tea and most recently high tea. All the finger sandwiches are delicious. They even made me vegetarian versions. Our favorite thing to eat is the gingerbread. So moist and flavorful. And I must admit, they make the only scone I’ve ever liked. The service may not be lightning fast, but it’s perfectly paced for a leisurely lunch. Every guest we’ve brought has also been very happy with the experience. Great food, nice family owners, and such a treat! In LA, you just don’t find places like this. It’s a great get away. Do yourself a favor and enjoy an afternoon at tea!

Not sure how this place is 4 stars. Food was okay. Food took forever to come out and everyone got there food twenty minutes from eachother. Read my checkin for additional comments.

I agree that the service wasn’t the best… but maybe that was because they added a mandatory gratuity so there was no need or incentive to work for a tip? We did have a party of 7 and was celebrating a birthday. However, no acknowledgment or even a birthday wish given. Unfortunately, missed out on the raspberry preserves(or any preserves), they never made their way out to us with the scones. As for the positive, the Mill Creek blend(tea) and all of the food was delicious. I love afternoon tea, but the experience was just lacking here.

Super cute tearoom! Lots of great merchandise and awesome selection of teas. Our server was a bit rude but the owner was so friendly and personable that it more than made up for it. I was a little nervous walking around the breakables(I still feel like I’m 10 when I’m around anything made of glass) but I couldn’t help wandering because everything was so cute and quaint!

Mill Creek Manor is a charming tea room and was a wonderful find on a snowy day! The tea room had a unique French/Country/Victorian feel with warm hospitality. The moment I walked in, I could smell something sweet baking in the oven. A gracious gentleman greeted me warmly and offered me a seat as I browsed through the menu. I wanted high tea which was served later in the day and required a reservation. I didn’t mind and I was able to make a reservation for later that afternoon. They have an extended menu, not just afternoon tea, which is nice for those who don’t indulge in tea service. When I returned, there were several other diners and the hostess apologized that she gave my reserved table away. Table covers, not cloths, were on the tables and the food wasn’t served on fine China, unlike most tea rooms. They were also not as expensive as most tea rooms. The food was good and homemade and the portions were larger than other traditional tea rooms. The customer service was outstanding. I later found out the gracious gentleman and his wife were the owners and his wife baked and prepared most of the delicious treats. I’m looking forward to my next visit.

Two weekends ago I took my husband and daughter up to Big Bear for my husband’s birthday weekend getaway. We went up there to go snow tubing and so my husband can go so skiing, it was a wonderful time. We even got to fit in hiking, so I didn’t think we would have time for this place since we wanted to make reservations and have some tea during their high tea time. I will say that they were very flexible with us for us to do same day reservations and we were able to enjoy all the little treats and teas they had to offer. It’s a little pricey for such a small tea room, $ 20 a person but they didn’t charge my daughter since she was just eating off our plates anyway. The service was excellent and though the food wasn’t filling, the teas were wonderful. It’s probably one of the best places to go to in Big Bear, but if it was a tea room in any other city, I’d say it would disappoint just because of it’s size and it’s charm may not appeal to a lot of people. Regardless, we had a wonderful time trying the sandwiches, scones, and croissants. I also really enjoyed the shabby chic, old french theme they had going in there. I honestly felt under dressed wearing my snow boots but we are in Big Bear after all.
