I saw the good reviews on this place and thought wow we gotta have it. The place was super packed and that us usually a sign of good food. we are ok waiting for good food. But we were a little disappointed. 1 hour and 15 minutes for a burger. My family came to Big Bear for some fun in the snow and we decided to eat at all the local joints. Wish we would have skipped this one. The burger were not that flavorful and all my kids and friends complained that their buns were cold. Not hey your bun is cold but maybe they came out the freezer. That sucked. This Was our 4th place eating out this trip AND the most disappointing. Not sure what all the other Unilocal reviewers got but maybe I should have ordered something else. We all took a vote and would have rather had an In N Out burger. Will not be going back.

Pretty tasty burgers. The only issue is the wait. We waited 40 min — no lies for our family of 4 burgers and fries on a busy Saturday afternoon.

Best burgers in big bear. If you ever go to big bear you have to try this place. The burgers honestly are as good as in n out.

This place was awesome! We came in here for lunch and I was so pleasantly surprised. We got the fried jalapenos and although they werent spicy they were good. We also got the loaded tots and they were just as described and delish! My husband got the BLT and was super happy with it. I got a burger and it tasted similar to that of In n Out. Topped it off with a Malt Chocolate Shake and it was PERFECTION!

Quality takes time! In 2 days I Tried the duke, John Wayne, producer with bacon, leading man with bacon onion rings, tator oneils, and sweet potato fries! My friend tried the Chicago Dog! No complaints! Best restaurant on the mountain! You will not be disappointed. If it’s busy yes there will be a wait, but that’s because they don’t make it until you order it!

It beats the commercial chain burgers by far… but far as independent«gourmet/specialty» burgers go, nothing special… The people working there were very nice, even though it was busy, wait time was not long. the burger was ok. Negatives: Asked for well-done –it wasnt. not a big deal-.Ordered small onion rings, got 4 large ones and half a small one, and Those were very well done… for almost 4 dollars thats a buck a ring .LOL… Unless I find some place in Big Bear with better burgers(and Char-grilled, not flat top grilled as GTB does) than I’d probably go back…

Burger was good, not great. If you like waiting an hour for your order. Also, the order was wrong. Instead of making more burgers, as we ordered for the hungry kids, the owner said they are too backed up go get a refund. It’s cool to get a partial free meal but we went to eat burgers because we were hungry. So an hour later we still had hungry kids. Thanks!

Was less than half a mile from the cabin I was staying at, and offered a fairly simple and straightforward menu that offered quality burgers and fries. I ordered The Director, and was very satisfied. It’s a classic, filling burger that hits the spot in the cold weather. The beef is juicy and the lettuce is fresh, sauce a good compliment to the components. The fries were very solid as well, having good crunch.

This place has a great variety of stuff. I get something different every time. The only thing is they are not open sometimes. I don’t know what it could be. Give them a try if you are in town!

This is the best place in town to get tater tots. Had a BLT and the bacon was thick and crispy. A must have if you’re in Big Bear. You’re going to love it.

When I moved to Big Bear I was looking for a good burger… there are some decent ones and we stumbled upon Get The Burger. At the time they were cash only(like many places in this small mountain community) which kind of bothered me, but since then have moved to a digital solution similar to Square so you can pay with your debit/credit cards. The food is made to order so it takes a bit longer than you’re used to at what appears to be a fast food joint… but the quality is much higher than fast food so I’ve gotten used to the extended prep time. Over the past couple years they’ve gotten to the next level with tator tots, sweet potato fries, small batch sodas… the works. It’s a bit on the higher price end for burgers compared to in In-n-Out, but everything in the mountains cost more. so we’re kind of used to it. Make sure to try the«fry sauce» too. It’s a unique spicy sauce that you shouldn’t miss. Also keep an eye out for the owners purple Gremlin parked out front! :)

Currently am staying in the Big Bear area and my boyfriend recommended me to this place again and again. So, we went and I ordered the burger with the onion ring and barbecue sauce(can’t remember the name). We were helped quickly and we even saw the owner there who later came up and asked how the meal was, which I always appreciate. It was a little pricey but worth every bit! I also got sweet potato fries with my burger and they gave us a separate sauce for that, a little spicy and delicious. It’s a cute little diner space and they have donation containers for places like the Big Bear zoo where they rehabilitate animals who were hurt. It was a really nice experience and I’ll definitely be back to try some of their delicious shake flavors!

I’ve seen a lot of bad reviews and I’m not sure why or what was expected. It’s a burger joint, and all things considered it was really pretty good. Good portions, cooked well, fresh ingredients and friendly staff. I don’t know if the burgers start life frozen or not, but I can tell you they ended up pretty damn good going down ;-) The murals on the walls are pretty cool as well. Worth the time if you want a burger in my opinion. And the music is hilarious… they went from Ann Murray to Van Halen to Queen to Elvis… AWESOME!!!

BESTBURGERONTHEMOUNTAIN!!! Wow, had it for the first time today, and I was blown away! My husband & I come up here quite often from Palm Springs, and being honest, there’s not even a place in Palm Springs that compares to this! I indulged and had the«Director». To say I was happy, is an understatement!!! All the positive reviews are completely legit! If there’s a negative one, something is wrong with that individual! I hear they have a «secret menu» like in-n-out, so next time, I’ll ask for it with mustard & pickles. The meat to patty ratio is perfect, and all the ingredients are fresh. Actually not sure about the patties, but the other ingredients are fresh! OUTSTANDING job!!! I can’t wait to come back!!! A+++++++!!!

Owner was super nice and super dog friendly. He came out to give dogs a bowl of water and also a biscuit. So kind! The food here was also great! Everything just tasted so fresh. All veggie has a crunch to it and seems made to order. The restaurant is also very clean from the time you walk in to the restroom. Will def be back bc their chicago dog is full of veggies ans their fish burger. Delish!

I got the jalapeño, bacon burger. They were generous with the bacon but were equally miserly with the jalapeño. I couldn’t taste it at all. I looked and couldn’t find any. I brought my burger to the counter and after pealing it apart the girl showed me the missing jalapeños. Great! So they’re there. But they’re so impotent or in such tiny quantity that I didn’t know. I finish my burger and a minute later hear the girl behind me say«They gave me the wrong burger. I asked for jalapeños»

Summary: Delicious burgers and tater tots. Very similar in flavor to In-N-Out but a little pricier and bigger portions. Also have beer and wine available. Not fast food, so be prepared to wait for it to be cooked properly. My wife and I were visiting Big Bear for the weekend and wanted some lunch, so we turned to Unilocal for some guidance, like we so often do, and discovered this gem of a burger joint. When we walked in, the place was bustling and all tables(of the 6 or 7 available inside) were occupied, plus all but two chairs along the bar on the side. Two people were in line to order already, so we briefly perused the paper menu and finalized our decisions for food, then turned to the Hangar 24, Karl Strauss, and other beers by the bottle(they also have wines in pre-sealed cups) to decide what to drink. By the time the other two people had ordered we were all ready to go. A very nice woman greeted us from behind the counter and took our order. She warned us that our orders might take a little longer than normal(15 – 20 minutes) because of a large order that had just been entered, but that worked out fine for us because we had time to kill and wanted to have a couple of beers first. My wife ordered a Hangar 24 Orange Wheat to complement her Child Star with cheese and the works, while I got a Karl Strauss Red Trolley to go with my Director, and we shared the Tater O’Neal tater tots with melted cheese, bacon, scallions, and sour cream on the side. We sat for a bit along the counter until a table opened up, and then moved into that. While we waited for the food, the place kept on buzzing with business and we enjoyed our beers. When the food was ready, I brought the tray to our table and marveled at how much bigger these burgers were than standard In-N-Out burgers, but when I dove in I was thoroughly welcomed by the quality and taste that is so familiar to my favorite fast-food burger chain. The buns here were a little more toasted, which was actually really nice, and the burger patties were thicker. It was the flavor that just made me smile. The Tater O’Neal was also fantastic. Great textures and flavor combinations. They even have ranch dressing to dip in, here! Our total bill came to $ 30, which is definitely not fast food prices, but given that we had two beers, two good sized burgers, tater tots, and a great experience, I’d say it was worth it!
