This place was killer and Harold was a total boss. Killed it every time. Went by recently, October 12, and it looks to be closed…

A friend of mine told me about this place a while ago, and I’ve been coming here ever since. They’ve been my go-to tailor whenever I need a suit altered, because they always do an impeccable job! Recently, they began offering tuxedo rentals, so naturally I recommended them to my brother for his wedding. Their tuxedos fit us perfectly and are made from high quality fabric – I believe they were Super 140’s. The cost to rent one is very reasonable, which includes a shirt, cufflinks, bow tie and cummerbund. They even have shoes there to rent. At the end, we were very happy with how everything turned out. And by the way, they even make hand-made bespoke suits here, and I plan on commissioning them to make one for me later this year. Can’t wait!

Let me start off by saying I really want to love this place, and I really want to give it 5 stars. It’s owned by a very nice older man, who has like a nobel prize in tailoring. I brought my husband here three times to tailor dress pants and suits, but I will not be back. The positive: The man is really friendly, turn around times and prices are completely reasonable and his work is IMPECCABLE. The negative: This store is not run well. Mistakes are made left and right. The second time we came, the owner included another person’s shirt in our«order» and charged us for it. He assured me when I picked the clothes up that the shirt was ours, and he just forgot to put it on the original receipt. I figured fine, my husband has like 30 shirts, maybe I’m confused. When I got home and my husband said the shirt absolutely wasn’t his(it wasn’t even his size) I was annoyed because I had to go all the way back(it’s out of the way for me). Granted, the owner was really nice about it, gave me cash back and that was that. But it was an annoying and time-costing mistake. The third time we came, my husband’s brand new, right-out-of-the-box, black label RL shirt was trimmed down so tightly, it was beyond unwearable. My husband looked like a sausage casing. And when that happens, there’s no way to fix it. You’d need like 2 extra inches of fabric in the shirt, and a tailor would never leave so much. I’m not quite sure how it happened, but there is no way that the shirt was pinned that tight in the store(it made my husband look like he gained 30 pounds in the week since the shirt was dropped off). Someone very clearly messed up, and in a very significant way. $ 300 brand new shirt, ruined and unwearable. When your clothes are tailored correctly, and you actually get the things you dropped off, this store’s work is incredible. However, if your clothes are expensive or «well, I hope this goes well» isn’t an acceptable philosophy for you when you get things tailored– this is probably not the experience you are looking for. I wish I could say better because this guy has been in the business forever and its a small mom/pop shop, but the disappointing reality is reality.

There is a little place on Santa Monica Blvd. which has a thin sign, and blink and you will miss it. There is a man with white hair who looks like an Italian SWEET grandpa who comes down the stairs as you open one of the two plain white doors. He smiles at you, and says hello. You feel instantly at ease. His name is Maestro Sarto, and he has a plaque out in front. He charged me very reasonable prices to alter my dresses for an A-List event and another for feeling sexy. His customizations are superb and he is always on time. I love him and this shop. So much better than Murat’s.
