Seems to be hit or miss lately, which is frustrating when there are limited sushi options in the mall. True, it’s a «sushi stand» and not a restaurant, but we’re dealing with raw fish… everything matters. I ordered a meal last week and realized the meals are smaller if you get it to go. Not cool. Tonight I’m enjoying a few frozen pieces… yummy.(Not really) Finally the kids who work there lack customer service training. Step it up Sarku or bring your prices down with your quality.

Ditch the rice and get noodles instead. I like the steak and shrimp. Absolutely fantastic every time we go.

Food was really greasy. Although you get large portions, it lacked flavor.

Definitely one of the best things you can get in the foodcourt here. This a pretty good as far as fast food goes. I usually get teriyaki chicken. if you really wanna commit suicide… or should i say… carb-a-kamikaze, get it with their lomein instead of steamed vegetables or rice. If youre tryna get those gains, you can double your meat(protein) for only $ 1. It’s always delicious.

While I was waiting for my order, they gave each piece as it became available to various customers who ordered after me as part of their orders. The entire line went through twice before they finally gave me my order. When I went to eat it, it was cold. I won’t be back.

I know I can’t expect a whole lot from kids serving food in a mall food court, so I will say that the food at least tastes good. It’s too bad that the workers are rude, they screw you out of portions that you pay for, and most likely would laugh at you were you to choke right in front of them.

Unfortunately, I did not for the most part feel that the quality of the food was good — or worth the price. I had a beef bento box and the tempura vegetables smelled tart(like when potatoes start to go bad). Unlike many people I felt that my portions were large enough, just not tasty. The beef tasted only of pepper and the California roll was disappointing as well.

I would’ve given Sarku a 5 star rating considering their pricing and quality of food… They deserve it. Mind you, I don’t venture into mall food courts much because I tend to just want to go home instead of shop after I eat… But when I do have to eat at the mall, I typically choose Sarku… The food quality is deff the same despite change of location/construction but one thing I have noticed; which is why I took a star back… PORTIONSIZEHASCHANGEDASAFOREMENTIONED. A little while back, it would be impossible to close your to-go box of teriyaki chicken, rice and veggies… Now there’s enough room inside to fit another box. What the what??? I know I sound like a glutton but who cares? I expect consistency, and considering it’s not like steak that I’m ordering I expect a little more for my money. Still good though… I will suck it up or even give them an encouraging«may I have a little more, please?» With a smile next time.

Ordered Teriyaki Shrimp. The price was fair. But it was little bit salty and way too much rice.

Very tasty teriyaki chicken but… Smaller portion served compared to past. Also on a more important note, you get better customer service being a slave in the 1800’s. these people have no manners and don’t care if you choke on their food. And I am not exaggerating. I give one star for being tasty and the second one for being fast. Good customer service and consistency would have gave them all five stars. Sometimes they charge me .25c for a cup of water. These people are ridiculous.

Super yummy the last time I’ve gone. I usually buy what ever is being sampled that day. The chicken with fried rice is really filling and can still be eaten for lunch the following day. I’m not sure if there is a different place to rate the Sarku Japan Sushi, but I really enjoy that as well! It’s fresh and delectable.

Personally, there is nothing better then Chicken Teriyaki double meat, with fried rice and steamed vegetables, when it comes to eating at Montgomery Mall. It is freshly prepared in front of you while you wait to eat this delicious meal. For $ 8.03, you cant go wrong, usually I can finish in one sitting, and am left feeling satisfied and energized, instead of sleepy and lethargic.

They are at center stage and deservedly so! The spicy tuna and any tuna or salmon are my favorites. But the veggie plate is great too! They are speedy and polite and will cater to special requests

In food court standards, Sarku Japan never disappoints with its chicken teriyaki: fast, greasy, and satisfying. So much better than the neighboring Panda Express, Subway, Mickey D’s, etc. Price: I believe it’s around ~$ 6 for a big portion of chicken, veggies, and your choice of fried/white rice. 99 cents extra for«double meat.» Food: The veggies are bland and the fried rice is a little too salty, but I really love the marinade on the chicken teriyaki. Sarku first started the«chicken samples» at Montgomery Mall and it worked brilliantly — little bites of teriyaki goodness! Bottom Line: I haven’t tried anything else here — go with the chicken teriyaki! Yaum.

Dilemma: I needed a quick energy boost while shopping and thought that a sushi fix might be in order. That is, until I was passed a toothpick with a few pieces of teriyaki chicken while in mid-stroll creating an immediate dilemma — sushi or chicken? Sarku’s Solution: Wrap that chicken in some nori with rice and let’s get rolling! I know it’s just wrong, but I ordered it along with a spicy tuna roll for lunch. I must admit though — it was good. It just wasn’t sushi. It was chicken with rice. The spicy tuna was okay, but nothing amazing. For mall eatery sushi, it’s not bad! The rice is cooked perfectly, the fish is pretty fresh and the prices are pretty standard, averaging around $ 4 for a standard roll. They also have some decent sushi combo meals, with sashimi, nigiri and roll combinations. Definitely a pretty good fix for a sushi craving on the run.

So you have your selection of terrible fast food, including Panda Express(UGH), and then you have Sarku Japan. I haven’t tried the sushi side of it, but if you want something that is prepared to order and has real chicken then go here. Get the chicken teriyaki, double meat for the extra dollar, and ask them to add some sauce to it otherwise it can get kind of dry. As others said, it’s not authentic or particularly Japanese in any way, but it is good food.

She Said…“This is average mall food… except tasty. I love some good chicken teriyaki and this is the place to go to if your in the mall. They have yummy fried rice with chicken poured on top. Their servings are pretty big, just one filled up me and my lovebug. 8 dollars for lunch isnt too bad, i think this will be our new place for lunch, well that and cosi.” He Said,“Yea I like the mall food Japenese places… you know your not going to get anything special but its good for lunch. Of course they have the guy out front who can barely speak English shoving the chicken on a toothpick in your face, aside from that I will go back for a quick lunch. One really good thing about this place is that it didn’t make me sick like that other place we ate at that cost 40bucks… I’ll pay 8 bucks not to eat the MSG… oh yea.”
