We heard about clamming and stopped in here to get a license. We have never done this before and the staff answered all our«stupid» questions and were friendly. Browsed a bunch of their firearms that they had on display. Seemed to be a good variety. Agent fee of $ 2.50 on the licenses. Not sure of that’s typical but posting here as an FYI

The name on the window and all of their printed stuff is «HOOK’EM&COOK’EMOUTFITTERS» so it was hard finding the actual name of this place. Good thing there’s reverse lookup for phone numbers! This is a bait, tackle and hunting supplies store tucked into a little strip mall on the Coastal Highway. The place has two rooms, one for fishing, the other for hunting. It’s crammed with everything you would need and then some. You can rent a rod, reel and sandspike for surf casting at $ 9 a day. You have to buy the weights and hooks but the prices are reasonable. They also sell a wide range of rods, from the cheaper rental stuff to higher grade poles. I don’t know any of the brands because I don’t fish regularly, but my brother says the selection is okay for a small place. The sales guys are relaxed and happy to talk about what’s running and give tips. There’s a fridge full of different kinds of bait, too. The hunting side is a bit creepy, with guns and stuffed deer heads on display. Lots of camo and even portable blinds and tents for your dog.
