I went in looking for one of the mesh bodysuits. The staff knows the products really well although at times I feel they come off a bit rude and snotty. Overall I did find exactly what I was looking for and the body suit was definitely worth the price. Only negative opinions I have is the staff coming off rude and I wish the sizing didnt run so small!

I do try and make a stop here if I choose to return to Berkeley and do a bit of shopping, and it is cool that the men’s and women’s store finally combined on the corner of Telegraph and Bancroft. Overall a good selection of items of various bright colors(which I enjoy). What really brought me here this time was for the American Apparel daily deal that I had to use in-store only. Stocked up on AA sweatshirts(more expensive than I remember…) and used the groupon no problem. They even helped me get a sweatshirt from the back that they didn’t have out on the rack(yellow color). Pretty good experience for me… **But for my gf it was a bit of a different story. She was also stocking up on some sweatshirts, and apparently the daily deal can only be used on the pre-tax total, so she bought some nail polish that was on sale. Having the $ 25 for $ 50 groupon, she used it and was confused at the total, but we walked out anyway. Luckily after walking to Bancroft Clothing, she opted to check back with the store after doing some math. Turns out the cashier gave $ 25 off, not $ 50. Basically had to go back and edit those transactions… Moral of the story — check your receipt for correct pricing espesh after a daily deal…

Honestly, I don’t know why this place is even still open. The empolyees are rude as all hell. That whole aloof persona is only acceptable at Urban Outfitters up the street. They should close it down and open an H&M instead.

Honestly, this store isn’t all that bad. It’s like every other American Apparel store that I’ve been to. Clothes crowd the racks, & racks fill up almost every inch of the floor. The clothes themselves aren’t a problem; back in the day I used to wear AA everything! My problem has to do with how my concern was handled. I went in to the store last weekend, with an online coupon in hand(spend $ 25, get $ 50 in credit). The associates were nice enough, asking if I needed help a few times. I ended up settling on three pairs of pantyhose and a pair of thigh-high socks. AA has had a buy 3 of the same item, get 15% off deal for a while, so I did some mental math & my total should have ended up to be a little over $ 50.(Pantyhose @ $ 14 each, with a 15% discount = $ 11.90 each, + $ 18 thigh highs = $ 53.70, pre-tax.) I got rung up, & handed the girl my credit card, without even thinking. To be fair, this part was my fault. When I got home, I looked at my loot, & checked over the receipt. The cashier had rung me up for $ 13 and some change. I was puzzled. I checked my math again, & got the same results. So today, I went back into the store, & asked to speak to the manager. The first girl I spoke to told me she would get the manager, but she was busy, so a second girl attempted to solve my problem. She tried to convince me that the receipt was confusing, & that the store had actually only charged me the difference, even though the receipt clearly showed that I payed $ 13 with my card. She went to get her manager after her associate corrected her. The manager explained that my discount was applied, but in a different way. She said that I got $ 25 in credit, as well as 25% off of each of the items. That’s cool & all, but that isn’t what I paid for. She also told me that the 15% of discount wasn’t used, because discounts cannot be combined. Why was I not informed of this by the person who was ringing the sale up? And why couldn’t I just get my $ 50 in credit? By doing this, I was unrightfully charged an extra $ 10. The manager gave me an unsympathetic«sorry» on my way out. I am definitely taking my business elsewhere.

Where do I begin? I love their leggings, scarves, and fleece capes. My husband loves their sweatshirts. They are very helpful in the store. I usually shop online so I have access to all of their wonderful colors. We even have AA sheets on our bed.

What can I say? I love this store! If only… I was wealthy and could support such a lavish lifestyle. All the clothes are of and feel like great material, which is why the price is so outlandish. I only wish they had a sale section, which none of the American Apparel locations do. Clean, organized, and stylish, I can honestly say I really do adore this store. One day when I can afford it I’ll be purchasing from this store often. I also really appreciated how friendly and helpful the employees were because in a place where the price tags hurt your eyes, you’re going to need cooperative people around.

Staff is great at both stores. If an item isn’t on the sales floor, they’ll call over to the nearby corner-location and have someone bring it over. I also recommend looking at styles online so that you have an idea of fit and fabric prior to getting in the store. The stores always make me feel like I’m looking at a lot of the same thing so I like to compare the softest, best fitting v-neck and other details prior to entering the store.
