The food is fairly good depending on what you order. The bill ends up being somewhat smaller than similar restaurants because the service is so bad that you never have to tip.

Mediocre breakfast food, mediocre service from today’s waitress. She was out of reach/waving distance for 20+ minutes after we finished eating so we had to request our check from a different waiter so we could leave. Two stars because there’s food here! :)

My wife and I were craving pastrami for a while so we finally decided to pick up a couple of sandwiches here. It was unfortunately a huge disappointment. We had our pastrami sandwiches on Rye as we always do but we have never eaten a sandwich that had more bread than meat before. There was only about a half inch of meat in the center of the bread and it became thinner the closer you got to the edge. The Rye bread itself was rather small too so it felt more like an appetizer for us, which forced us to go elsewhere to pick up another«meal» to eat. Paying over $ 30 for 2 sandwiches of that quality is ridiculous. The only saving grace they has was that the Pastrami itself was pretty tasty but it could have done without a huge strip of fat mixed in. Definitely not coming back.

This was our second trip to Goldberg’s and it was great! Our first experience was a bit awkward but we wanted to give it another shot and we are so glade at we did. I ordered the corned beef Reuben which was amazing! My husband got a burger and it looked yummy. He didn’t even offer me a bite which meant he really liked it. Our friend ordered the Fiddler on the Roof, borscht, and fried chicken livers. He was kind enough to share the livers and I will have to say that they were hands down THEBEST fried chicken livers I have ever had. I was tempted to ordered a plate of the livers for myself! And our server, Katherine, was so awesome! She was really sweet and friendly. We had a little conversation about our appreciation for the original Powerpuff Girls. :D Definitely coming back and will be ordering my very own plate of the chicken livers.

One of the only places around to get Jewish deli meats. Goldbergs has a lot going for them with their Jewish deli meats, the corned beef and pastrami are absolutely delicious being very juicy and tender. Probably the best on the Eastside and Seattle area. That being said, it might be the only thing going for them. Their sandwiches are very greasy unless you get them cold and the prices are a littler high for the quality and portions. The service is slow and unenthusiastic the few times I’ve gone. If it wasn’t for the deli meat, I wouldn’t go back.

3.5 stars. This place is a good place to stop by if you are craving for Jewish deli food like pastrami, corned beef and various niche Jewish bakeries. They have quite a large menu. and even if you are up only for just plain diner food like omelettes and sandwiches, they have the selection available as well. The cured meats aren’t exactly as good as the famous Katz’s Delicatessen in NYC but if you are craving for those meats, they’d still satisfy your craving. My SO typically orders their pastrami sandwiches whenever we go there and I typically just get the matzo ball soup(it’s sort of plain and nothing out of ordinary, but it’s still satisfying eating that once in a while). Service is just ok. Most of the time we go because we have some craving for the food they offer and sort of just not pay too much attention for the service. Sometimes you get the free refill drinks you are supposed to get, sometimes you just don’t. Just go if you are craving for some of the Jewish deli food they have, but it’s not anywhere you’d go and expect to be ooh-aah by their service.

Service was quick and friendly, restaurant was nice and clean. I ordered the combo Reuben which I thought was pretty tasty. It was well loaded with pastrami and corned beef which had great flavor. Sauerkraut was tasty and not overwhelming. I was happy. However my wife ordered a cup of the matzo ball soup. Big mistake. One of the nastier things either of us has ever eaten. Not sure if it’s one of those acquired taste things as neither of us had tried it before, but neither of us liked it. I tried several bites just to make sure and felt like it was an assault on my tastebuds with each bite. Wasn’t particularly impressed with the broth either, just tasted like dirty dish water. Maybe that’s the way matzo ball soup is supposed to be and if so great, it’s just not for us!

I’ve been here three times for lunch. The corn beef and pastrami is absolutely wonderful. It’s probably the best you can find in the Seattle area. Yes, it’s NY style and yes, it’s almost too thick to get your mouth around the sandwich. The sandwiches come with potato salad and pickle spears. As far as the food goes, it is top cabin. So, as you would expect, there’s a long wait for a table and service is slow at lunch time. I sit at the bar when I come here. If there is space at the bar, service is way faster! and the bartender is a cool guy, worth chatting with! Today it took an hour and a half to order and eat a sandwich, seated in a booth… won’t do that again! Just saying. Otherwise, definitely five stars!

I wonder if the«Famous» part of the name is just a marketing slogan since the experience(food and service) was barely par. My «corned beef hash and eggs» was not great. I remember tasting only a hint of corned beef. I ask myself if the management has ever eaten the food they serve or ever had good corned beef hash? The hash browns were not crisp, fresh or hot and it took a couple of tries to get tea water hot enough to make one cup of tea. I ate lunch here years ago and it was the same mediocre food and service. I am wondering if any of the other reviewers have had real Jewish deli food, like one my get in NY, or have I just been unlucky with my local choices. In either case, something dramatic needs to happen before I will try eating here again.

Went back this weekend and it was AMAZING!!! I ordered the Original Hot Pastrami on Rye. The meat was super tender and had a nice bark on it that provided amazing flavor by the way of seasonings, the bread was flavorful and fresh, and the spicy mustard was of high quality! My mother and aunt on the other hand ordered the Goldberg’s famous Rueben with corned beef. They said the meat was«absolutely» amazing, some of they best they’d ever had. However, they said the sauerkraut was tasteless: it had no tart to it. Now my mother and aunt are«Rueben experts» due that’s all they order anywhere they go. They said the sauerkraut had been boiled and that’s what took the signature sauerkraut tart out of it. They said the sandwich was five stars, but the sauerkraut drag it down to 3 stars. My mother said«you’d be better off going to the store buying some regular sauerkraut and putting it on the sandwich, then you have a true home run! Sour from the kraut, and savory and butter from the meat and bread.» I will definitely be going back!!!

Extremely disappointing. When asked to remove/discount the unacceptable eggs, we were told that they were not able to remove the eggs from the bill because they were not able to reuse them. Reuse… wtf?! The table next to us spent the whole time catching gnats — they made a game of it. 0_o

Food: filling and delicious But you’re a Jewish deli and you don’t have apple sauce for the Latkes? There’s a freaking Safeway right next door want me to go to my mitzvah and buy it for you guys? Wait no I’m paying $ 17 for breakfast, my Jew blood can’t allow that. And a break in their kitchen vent system left the front doors and quite the cold draft in. I’m pretty sure everyone in this place is having a 2 star experience right now. Table next to us: «no Diet Coke, what is this?» Pickles sucked too. Good luck.

Really really love the food here and it’s always busy, service is decent. But with how busy it is every time we come here. Why can’t they fix the upholstery? It is very disappointing as I had such a big hole in the seat of my booth that I had to cover it with my coat… The waiting area is bad too as are several other booths. Everything else is fine, but since this is my third visit here in 9 months and since I noticed the upholstery in such awful shape each visit and not being fixed, I have had to give it only 3 stars. Have some pride in the look of the restaurant Goldbergs! It is hard for me to recommend or take folks here when they see such a sketchy place to sit. :/

Food is average-ish. Was really displeased to enjoy a lunch out with my husband while listening to a male manager disciplining his staff member on the restaurant floor. The place was empty and this was just as uncomfortable for my husband and I as it was for the employee. Tacky and unnecessary.

As good as it gets in Seattle(or rather the Seattle area). I was impressed with the latkes, but the chopped liver was a tad too smooth for my taste. I wanted to try the kreplach soup, but they had just run out when my order was placed. And the black&white cookie was just as it should be.

I’ve been to Goldberg’s for both breakfast and lunch multiple times as I live very close. Their breakfast ispretty standard and most plates come with a ton of food. Nothing special, however their crispy French toast is amazing! Their sandwiches and lunch menu are great! I love how big their sandwiches are and how great tasting their pastrami and corned beef are. Good food and great staff. Usually get the ruben sandwich with corned beef or pastrami or both. Not quite Carnegie Deli huge but big sandwiches and good flavors. Stopped in at lunch around noon on a Friday– Fast friendly service and I can’t believe I haven’t heard of this place before(I work across the street). I ordered the BBQ Chicken Wrap. I usually try a place several times before I write a review, but Goldberg’s Famous Delicatessen really exceeded my expectations. My lunch consisted of half Pastrami Sandwich on Rye Toast and a cup of Mushroom Barley Soup. Water & Pickles arrived as soon as we sat on the table, our server was super sweet, fast, and very helpful. The food was really good, may not have been the best pastrami I ever tried, but was a close second, the soup was very delicious, and(free) pickles kept coming. Only one disappointment, they run out of Dr Brown’s Cream Soda diet or regular, so didn’t get to enjoy the full experience, opted for Dr Brown’s Black Cherry instead. The place is very welcoming, reminiscent of New York delis. There is a bakery, a bar, and a deli, get a cocktail with your food, grab some halva and rugelach on your way out. Prices were very reasonable, and the experience was epic, I’ll be back soon

Deli’s are important — and outside of LA, SF Bay Area or NYC& surrounds — good luck. But Goldberg’s is legit! — Super deep menu with hardcore NYC deli options(seriously hardcore not kidding). — Sandwiches are HUGE, matzo ball soup is not a joke, and the blintzes are pretty darn good — All day breakfast is not skimpy, I mean — if you want chocolate chip pancakes and OJ for dinner, go for it. — I like the live music on the weekends, enough tvs to catch the games, and never a giant wait to be seated. This despite a few oddities and being sadly ensconced in an aging mall — Goldbergs is fantastic!

The people here are awesome and attentive. The food is pretty sub par. I’m honestly surprised that they have lasted this long. I used to come here when I went to Bellevue College and again not too long ago, the flavor has not gotten any better. I got the apple and cheese blintz. It was just okay, nothing to brag about. I’ll definitely prefer this place to Red Robin or any of the other restaurants but at this point I’m just not super impressed with the food.

So this sort of kills me to write. I grew up in Detroit and used to go to the original deli that this restaurant was teamed from. I grew up working in deli’s be it my uncle Max’s deli in Southfield and then Plaza deli later after max retired. I love. Really love good corned beef and pastrami. Like its part of my soul. If I have to hit NYC on a business trip I’m plotting which kosher joint to hit when. Goldberg’s was worth a drive over from downtown Seattle in years past. This last visit had me hanging my head low. I ordered a pastrami and received said sandwich promptly from the wonderful waitress. Having received said sandwich though things went down hill fast. The pastrami had clearly not been steamed long enough and was extremely stringy. Like strings of fat and connective tissue dental floss like. I could have overlooked the smaller portion of meat as let’s face it. We’re not on the east coast but I needed to order some kreplach in order to get full after the sandwich. I hope they start paying attention to quality as it’s hard for me to justify going back after that experience. Which makes me sad as there are so few places for a jewish kid to go these days. Sigh.

This place gives me nostalgia, as I grew up in the NYC area. They also make decent egg creams, which is impossible to find even in NYC. I live right by so whenever I feel like breakfast food, this is the best place to come. Yes, it’s cheap stuff that I can easily make at home but it takes forever, especially for just one or two people. Their bacon is super thick and always crunchy without me having to ask for it. I’ve had the eggs bene before and their hollandaise is very tangy, which I didn’t like at first but now I think i might be addicted to it. Basically anything you order from their breakfast menu is a slam dunk. That being said… I’m not too fond of the sandwiches. They have a huge selection, and each sandwich is four meals for me, but I’m just not really into that kind of food. However, everyone I’ve been here with LOVES the sandwiches, and you can’t get a better deal for your money. Also, there was a bartender there who had just moved from Alabama who made me a real southern drink… lets just say people from the south are insane. Also, I finished the whole thing and then wobbled my way home.

The place gets props for the delicious pastrami sandwich. We got take-away from Goldbergs’ heading out to hike on I90. The aroma from the pastrami sandwich was enough motivation to get me hiking in earnest. Eagerly waiting to dig into my sandwich. My wife got the chicken wrap. The place has got both sit down and takeaway options. So now back to the food. The hot pastrami sandwich was overflowing with meat and flavor. I was full finishing off my half sandwich. Makes me think that a full would be a great early lunch option to keep you full throughout the day. Got the beans for a side and the slight sweetness of the beans went very well with the salt and peppery pastrami. My wife was underwhelmed by the wrap and I personally felt that the chicken could have done with some additional flavor. Look forward to going back trying out the other sandwich options.

They have a lot of things to choose from on their menu, and many items you can’t find at a lot of other restaurants. What I’ve tried here so far has been good, including the Chicken Piccata and Fried Clam Strips Dinner, although I thought the clam strips we’re a little over-fried. I also had the Avocado Cheddar Burger, which I thought was really good and fresh-tasting. There were grilled onions and fresh red onions on the burger, and plenty of it! The coleslaw was pretty good and I don’t really care for coleslaw; it wasn’t watery at all like most places. But the fries weren’t to my liking, I’m more of a crispy fries kind of person. And I just noticed they had a little bakery section with some yummy looking pastries and cookies… now I gotta go back and try some of those.

Great place for those who love Katz Deli in New York. The pastrami and corn beef sandwiches are out of this world. They serve several different kind of deli sandwiches, salads, and soups. I of course had to have the Reuben, which is offered with pastrami, corned beef, or both. I chose the later, and it was fantastic. I did start with a cup of Matzo ball soup, that came with a Matzo Ball the size of a tennis ball. Overall the food is a five. Service was only about a three. We were promptly seated, but it took over ten minutes for our server to show up. In the meantime all the tables seem to have a electronic menu at each table, but was not working properly. When I ordered I tried to order one of there specialty bottled sodas from New York, but was told they were out of my first choice. I then ordered my second choice, and the waiter came back a few minutes later to tell me they were out of that one as well. Thankfully they had my the third choice that was a local favorite of mine, but disappointed still the same. Once my sandwich arrived I asked for extra Russian dressing the waiter must of forgotten as he never returned with it. Overall I give it 4 out 5, as the food was fantastic and if the service was a little better it would easily be a 5 out of 5.

Goldbergs’ is the quintessential«A-OK» restaurant. It doesn’t really have a soul because it’s a chain restaurant in a shoddy mall. You are made acutely aware that it’s a chain restaurant with competing restaurant choices at Factoria being Red Robin, Old Country Buffet, and Panera Bread. I think neither Factoria nor Goldbergs’ are catering to Seattle Eater readers, and that’s not necessarily the worst thing in the world. Is it awful? Absolutely not. If some lunatic with a gun told me I had to eat at Factoria for one of my meals or be killed, this is probably where I’d go to avoid untimely death while still having a pretty good time. The food is decent. I ordered a pastrami Reuben because it seemed like the right thing to do at a New York style deli. We also ordered some onion rings and some latkes to share at the table. I liked the pastrami. Served in thin slices(as one would expect at a Jewish deli), it seemed like it was cured and cooked in house. The latkes were generally pretty good(I have a couple Jewish friends whose parents have made me homemade latkes in the past and they beat the pants off Goldbergs’ latkes), but the onion rings were almost definitely frozen. The batter was uninteresting and the onions were soggy. This is where my mom wanted to go for Mother’s Day this year, and the rest of my family seemed to enjoy their meals and the appetizers holistically, so maybe this is just me being hypercritical. If nothing else, the portion sizes are ginormous and you’ll be exceptionally full when you’re done. The waiter was very nice and highly energetic. I think Goldbergs’ under-staffs the dining area, so the he was visibly stressed, but he was apologetic and did his best to make sure we had the stuff we needed when we needed it. Overall, service was a little slow, but not prohibitively so. All things considered, there are definitely worse places to eat besides Goldbergs’. If you find yourself peckish while you’re shopping at Factoria, you should come here(not a place I would necessarily recommend shopping in the first place– Bellevue Square isn’t that far from Factoria and it’s wayyyy better… but I’ll save that for another review). Or else you could go to Red Robin for the 9000th time or get food poisoning at Old Country Buffet???

After a disappointing matzo ball experience from Whole Foods Market(which I don’t understand, being that I thought I hit a gold mine when I first found their version of the soup in Phoenix), I hit upon this place looking for matzo ball soup. Having made my own at home and read up on the various forms it can assume, I know there are different preferences how people like them. So far, Canter’s on Fairfax wins my vote, but the homemade(if expensive — $ 17 per quart — what the?) version at Eats Market is good in a pinch(when you’re flush with some extra cash you simply must spend). Goldberg’s wins stars for their friendly, prompt service and snappy, clean storefront, but they lose quite a bit on their food(my reason for an east side visitation), hence the rating. We made the journey over the bridge to find Goldberg’s and it’s quite easy with ample strip mall parking. Their layout is classic diner from desserts displayed in a case by the cashier to the cushy booths and tables throughout. The wall décor clearly advertises that their food should recall NY deli to your taste buds. The iPad in the booth did not respond smoothly to touch so I’m not sure what it’s there for, but we didn’t need it since the friendly waitress came right away to take our order for my matzo ball soup with additional carrots and(don’t ask me why) a ham and cheese omelet with hash browns and dry toast. I told him this was a Jewish deli and they didn’t specialize in omelets so I didn’t raise much of a brow when he stopped chewing after the first bite. «Really rubbery,» he said. Unfortunately, I know that matzo ball soup is a specialty and their version didn’t thrill me. The broth is okay, the carrots are okay but the matzos are soft and flavorless. The return drive over the bridge steeled my will to finish it. I’m definitely with the denser, chewier fans. The butter steeped hash browns are good, though.(Doesn’t everything taste better with butter?) I told my dining partner where his ordering mistake took place and he said he’d do better next time, but I told him there probably won’t be one. He just laughed. :)

I went to Goldbergs today for a bite to eat some deli. When I think Jewish Deli I immediately think of GOLDBERG’S Delicatessen. This the KATZ Deli of the NW. The gold standard of pastrami sandwichs when you have that craving. I know, I drive 15 miles for this place. Phenomenal Pastrami sandwiches. My sandwich was stacked 3 inches high with fresh steaming slices of juicy pastrami layered on rye bread to finish off the flavor. Now don’t forget to ad some mustard on that sandwich, however the meat just coats your tastebuds with flavor particles so you may not want add a foreign substance. The pickles are free, YESFREE. Also a bag of Tim’s chips to accompany your meal. As for the rest of the menu it’s huge but I have no idea if it’s good or bad, FRANK only gets the pastrami on rye! Enjoy your sandwich and MAZELTOV!

Live music was cool. The waiters going around and checking on everybody every once in a while was also a nice touch. There’s also a neat little bakery right at the entrance to this restaurant. Interesting place, but didn’t really amaze me for some reason. Still, I might be back if the multitude of restaurants surrounding this one happen to all bore me enough one day. I ordered a tuna melt sandwich that didn’t really have any flaws. They served me sliced pickles to start with, and they provided a side of fries and a separate dish of coleslaw. The sandwich itself was just tuna salad with a slice of tomato and melted cheese on slices of wheat bread. Sounds pretty good, but maybe I’ve been spoiled too much. Goldberg’s is just average to me.
