We had a group of fifteen that had a Thursday dinner at Maudies. The seating was quick for a large group and was having a positive dining experience until the manager cut off the entire table after one alcoholic beverage(only half of the group had ordered a alcoholic drink, the other half had ordered soft drinks and ice tea). Had the group been loud or obnoxious, the decision to cut off the table would have been understandable but that was certainly not the case in this instance. The manager made the decision to cut off the entire table because he thought several folks were in some sort of inebriated state… again not the case; without approaching us. We were on a chartered bus so driving was not a concern. After attempting to obtain a reasonable explanation(to no avail) we finished our dinner and left. Sadly, the food was good and the service from our waiter was excellent. The experience left a bad taste in what would have been a nice dinner. If you are looking to have an enjoyable dining experience; this may not be the place to do so.

Definitely over rated. I had their big margarita and was not worth $ 14. It was more sweet and sour mix than anything. I got shrimp tacos and had to send them back. The texture of the shrimp was rubbery… it took a lot to bite all the way through. No way! So I ordered a simple quesadilla… you really can’t go wrong… or can you?! The quesadilla was soggy, the tortilla was barely cooked with an inch thick of cheese in certain places with a runny sauce! I ended up only eating a sliver of it and brought it home to my husband who then had to put it in the cast iron to get the right toasted tortilla. He thought it was ok, very mediocre. The service was also just very mediocre, didn’t make you feel welcome, didn’t make any suggestions for food, just seemed to be going through the motions, just blah! I do, however, understand having an off day so my review doesn’t truly reflex the service as much as it does the food. I will not be returning to this restaurant… not worth the disappointment! Forgot to mention the best part of this restaurant is their view, absolutely stunning!

Nice facility, and menu similar to our long time favorite Maudie’s in Shady Hollow, although they didn’t have our favorite daily special. .. Pollo Chipolte. I described the dish to our server, and the kitchen made it as best they could, plus added BACON! Yummy! We’ll definately be going back!

I would strongly recommend that this restaurant, whose food was actually pretty decent, be avoided by anyone who is looking to have a nice, pleasant evening. Our group of 15 arrived at Maudie’s tonight eagerly anticipating a great meal… and some of us(not me) were looking forward to a few drinks with dinner. It was a business gathering, and had been on the water all afternoon, swimming and boating. As a sober person, I would describe us as a mellow group – lots of laughter, for sure, but mellow. The 15 of us were seated at a table that frankly was a tight fit for 10 people; it was nigh impossible to fit, so we appropriated the table next to us to spread out. The drink orders were taken, and half the folks ordered some sort of alcoholic drink, while half of us ordered iced tea, soda, etc. After drinks were delivered, the waiter explained that those in our party would only be allowed one drink. We explained that we were riding a bus and were a business group that would be returning to our hotel via that bus. Surprisingly, that was not sufficient for the restaurant. They sited alcohol safely policy for Texas as the reason. An appeal by a 100% sober member of our party to the restaurant manager was also refused. Being responsible as a business makes sense – the actions taken by this restaurant absolutely do not.

Loved my dinner at Maudie’s tonight. I got a combination plate with a beef taco, cheese enchilada with chili con carne, and chips with queso. I loved everything on my plate and ate everything on my plate. I am visiting family in Austin, and I will be sure to return to Maudie’s next time I come. There are so many more things on the menu that I want to try!

Very generic run of the mill«Mexican» food. Fajitas are served on a plate, not an iron skillet. Meat portion was very small. The fajita meat shared the plate with beans and rice, which took up most of the real estate. Chips were mildly stale but the salsa was actually pretty flavorful and spicy. Everything tasted okay if not a bit boring. Friendly and accommodating staff. Beecave doesn’t have much good food and this place is really not bringing anything new to the table(what up pun). Its not bad, but I recommend finding something else if you’re looking for memorable food.

This place was recommended to me by staff at Lakeway Resort and Spa. We were seated immediately when we go there. I opened the drink menu and food was all over it. Gross. It took awhile for the waiter to greet us, however, throughout our meal, he was attentive. It appeared that all the wait staff was too busy to really be personable with their guests. My husband and I ordered queso, and I was a little turned off when it was brought to our table with cheese dripping from the sides of the bowl. The taste was bland and seemed it came from a package. I ordered Al Pastor tacos and was extremely disappointed. There was huge chunks of pineapple and it killed the taste of the overall taco. The rice was hard and the black beans were blah. My husband was not satisfied with his dish as it was tasteless as well. If ever in the Austin area again, I more than likely would not visit this place again.

Ordered a large guacamole without the sour cream(due to a dairy allergy) which we do all the time at Maudie’s Milagro without issue. The waitress said«oh you want the midas mix»…I asked if that was basically their guac without the sour cream and she said yes. Guac came out and it was full of tomatoes, onions, etc(pico de gallo). I told her this is not what I wanted, and asked again for smashed avocado with nothing else added. She then came back out and said here is your guac… which was literally about 2TBSP full of guac. That’s a large? Less than ½ an avocado which we paid $ 4 for. Then I ordered combo fajitas. Asked for the veggies well done. After a very long wait, the fajitas(if you can call them that) came out on a plate(not a sizzling platter as expected) and first the food was cold. Cold meat, cold beans(which looked like they were from a can), and hard rice. Next there was literally about 6 pieces of meat and a giant pile of barely cooked onions and peppers. Not to mention, my guacamole that came with the fajitas was a few diced pieces of avocado. At this point I was completely beside myself. My husband’s tamales were luke warm at best and he complained about the hard dry rice as well. I will NEVER go back to this location. Maudie’s Milagro is the only decent location. Tipe to Hill Country… learn from every other TexMex restaurant in the area what fajitas are!!! They are supposed to be served hot and sizzling… and it’s about the meat, not the onions. I paid over $ 30 for our meal and left starving!

Went in during Happy Hour on Friday — asked waitress(Kaitlyn) were there any specials ? Responded it was in the table placard — I showed her these were seasonal specials … We asked if there were any HH specials — response this time maybe queso ? My wife asked her to please check Ordered drinks — adult beverages, she returned and asked if we were ready to order ? Asked again — any HH food special? She said queso was only thing — half price. We ordered dinner, and some queso — which she seemed to sling onto the table . I had asked for two limes since I got the giant Dox XX — one came — when I asked about the second lime she said I didn’t hear you? Funny she got the correct beer. Bill came — queso wasn’t half price. On the way out saw a large sign on hostess stand detailing a whole bunch of HH food specials. Won’t be going back …

I have mixed feelings about Maudie’s these days. The food is fantastic and I love the atmosphere but the once good margaritas have gone down hill. There isn’t much flavor to them and there obviously is hardly any tequilla in them. Sad day.

Over the last decades I have really enjoyed eating at the Maudie’s around town. That is no longer the case based on my lunch at the the Hill Country location . At this location I ordered the standard fare cheese enchiladas for lunch and boy was I disappointed. They were obviously pre-made and thrown on a plate, which can work but not in this case. As you can see from the picture(well I thought I could post a pic but I do not see the link on the web page) they were tiny, size of my index finger, and with very little flavor. I would have told them how bad it was since I like to be truthful, however I was never asked how my food was and I could not easily get the attention of my server. This poor service pushes the ranking down further. It was a very poor showing for such a great establishment, I know they can do better!

Decided to give this place a try even after hearing all the negative complaints re: Galleria. Service was slower than Christmas and this was late lunch 3 pm. We were tag teamed 3 different servers not sure one was the busboy. The check took longer than the entire meal. The food was mediocre; cheese enchiladas were the best of the 3 separate orders. Only recommend you go if you have plenty of patience, time and don’t care if they treat you like you are invisible.

All of their locations are great. As solid a Tex-Mex place as any around. I think this company has the best service and staff of any restaurant in Austin, from the ones which charge $ 5 to $ 100. Always a great experience. Impressive menu, choices. Some, like this one, are in sweet new facilities.

Decided to give this place another try. On no other day than my birthday. Today everything was very nice. The service was great, the food was awesome, and the atmosphere out on the heated patio was the best. I needed that dining in the sun experience after all this rainy yucky weather! After my first experience there I was contacted and asked to come back for another try. I guess I wasn’t ready at the time. But, thank you Maudie’s restaurant for a great birthday lunch with my family! I’ll be back soon!

So this location has been good as far service goes but the food is inconsistent and often lacking. The layout is really nice, great patio & cozy inside. I have just honestly had more mediocre meals here than good ones. The plates are almost always too small in portion for the price. Overall overpriced and under inspired food in my opinion.

The food today was disappointing! My son ordered the kids chicken quesadillas and they were soggy and disgusting! My husband and I ordered the combo fajitas and our food was cold. In addition, the service was terrible. It took 10 – 15 minutes before we got our drinks. I will not return to this restaurant.

Very beautiful location. I had recommended Maudies as «solid but not mind-blowing» to a group going here, and maybe it was just the items our party ordered, but I feel like the menu had been stepped up a notch from the other locations. I felt like a food snob after seeing how much they enjoyed their meal.

Amazing Tex-Mex. I had the chilaquiles for breakfast before heading back to Houston and was so impressed. They sure did hit the spot! I will now always want to eat here when I come to Austin. Great atmosphere and service as well.

We went towards closing and waited 10 minutes for a hostess then was forgotten after being seated. I relocated to bar and kindly let them know about the systemic issues. They were sincerely apologetic and comped almost everything. Four stars for food quality and for correctly rectifying the situation.

The best Mexican food restaurant in the Bee Cave area. Each location of Maudie’s is a bit different, but they are all good. This location has great parking, plenty of space, a nice outdoor patio with Texas Hill Country views, and a lively atmosphere. If you want some consistently good Tex-Mex in the Bee Cave area, be sure to visit Maudie’s.

Our go-to date night dinner spot! Also great for breakfast. The skinny margarita tastes bitter, which is odd, so I usually stick to beer or a regular marg on the rocks. The lower calorie menu tastes great. Husband loves the fajitas. Can’t go wrong with a quesadilla either!

The waitress was very nice to tell us we can substitute grill zucchini from rice and bean after we asked. Chips did not taste that good compare with before. I used to order Pollo Monterey every time I went to Maudie’s on 360, but the chicken seems over cook, super dry here. I would love to give this place 3 stars but… 1. Ladies’ restroom is not really clean 2. Dining table is gross 3. We saw a lady next the reception desk to pickup the table rag from the floor and put it back to the reception desk… No wonder the dining table is gross.

The location and décor are definitely five stars. But the food just isn’t very good. Fajitas for two is barely enough and they’re stingy with their tortillas, which is okay, because they taste store-bought. The Mexican martini I had with reposado tequila tasted like crappy high fructose margarita mix. The chips are really thin and don’t have a lot of taste. I guess it’s a good«white bread» style of Mexican food, but this is Texas and there are loads of good alternatives. It’s packed with crying babies and kids running around, so it’s probably good for the mommy bunch.

Last night I went to meet my friend for dinner. She was hang out in the Bee Caves area so I thought I would I could use a nice scenic drive. In all my life that I have been and lived in the Austin area I haven’t been to Maudie’s. I was in the mood for a margarita so why not have some Tex Mex with it. The space is beautiful. Even better that they had a really nice outdoor patio. We were seated and quickly greeted by our server. She was really nice and checked on us frequently. We ordered margaritas and food. For dinner I got the Maggie plate with was a crispy beef taco, enchilada and chips and queso. The server suggested a chicken enchilada with creamy sauce I an’t remember for the life of me and I feel like a terrible Elite Unilocaler.) My friend got the Regular Dinner plate with a crispy taco and enchiladas. We got our crispy tacos first hat came out promptly and then the rest of our plates. We both enjoyed our food, drinks and ambiance. Maudie’s you get 2 thumbs up. I need to go visit you more often.

Very nice staff. Pretty good food. Easy to sit down and eat when you arrive. Nice little koi pond outfront. Very good parking. Staff very pleasant. We arrived exactly at 6:30 when happy hour ended and they still gave us happy hour prices for our drinks. The happy hour margarita was $ 3.50 and I ordered it with salt on the rim and on the rocks and it was very good. The beer that my husband ordered came in a very large glass with a lime and he enjoyed it. We ate outside and it was quiet, you could hear the buzz of conversation around you, and The ambience is enjoyable. The sun was setting but there were lots of areas that were shaded so it remains comfortable even in the warm weather. This is a really good place for larger gatherings because they can put the tables together out on the deck. There are a lot of families that go here with very young well behaved children.

I’m not usually out in the Hill Country, but after spending some time in the brush. I need some liquid rehydration. I needed a margarita.(and water). I am happy to say that Monday HH is all night. My fiancée and I go the chip and queso, some flautas and a margarita. The salsa wasn’t thick chunk, but it definitely had more of real tomato taste to it. The queso was smooth. The flautas were a little smaller that I thought but they still fulfilled their job of a little grease to hold the alcohol. I had a good enough time that after the waitress brought the bill back with my credit card, I left. Meaning, I forgot to sign the receipt, take my card, and give back the bill. I’m not one to dine and dash, but I was that«satisfied.» I came back 10 minutes later. They didn’t scold me or make me do a breathalyzer. We had a good laugh as I tipped well and went on my way.
