Great sushi and sashimi, definitely give it a shot. The ping roll is out of this world

On a Friday night, at 8:30, we were ignored walking into the restaurant – for quite a while until we asked that we be seated, since they don’t close until 10pm. We were seated at a hibachi grill. We were told there is no way they would allow us to order sushi – «the table next to us is waiting 45 minutes for theirs, and the sushi chef wants to leave.» The hibachi chef was nice, but the food was very bland. We had to ask for water, and brought wine. Terrible attitude, terrible service, bland food. Go anyplace else. I really don’t think they’re in business to make a profit or because they love it – maybe it’s a front. Cranky female waitress, cranky chefs, and no one was having any fun.

I really wanted to enjoy this restaurant. It was my first hibachi here and unfortunately the food was very bland and upset my stomach. The fish may have been undercooked. The restaurant apparently did not have any storage and kept all of their materials around in the open which made it feel like were in a garage. The only redeeming quality was the performance of the chef for the kids.

Food was average, but a bit pricey. Service was below average. Twice our water glasses had been empty and no one came to fill them, I had to go ask. No one checked in to see how our lunch was. Only two tables were in use, and I see why. We had finished, paid, and we were getting ready to leave, and the hostess decided we needed to be informed«we closed now»… it was exactly 2:30, the time they close for a break. We won’t be bothering her again with our business.

Went during lunch time. Ordered sushi lunch and asked to substitute California roll for cucumber roll with no problems. Delicious and fast. Was in and out in 30 mins. Good place to go for sushi if u r in a hurry.

Great food. Been here multiple times. Although, I would suggest dining here for lunch rather than dinner as it gets expensive for those balling on a budget.

To keep it simple… this place sucks and my wife and i will never return. If you want the details read below. My wife ordered hibachi shrimp and chicken. To her surprise it was cooked in teriyaki which she doesn’t like. We asked the waitress because we thought they made a mistake. She said that is the way they prepare it. We found this strange since my wife has ordered this many times in the past and it has never come with teriyaki. We did a quick Internet search to confirm that hibachi is cooked with soy, butter and garlic. Next we looked at the menu and saw that it said soy, butter and garlic but no teriyaki. Next we showed it to the waitress and the manager. They say that they add teriyak and i insisted on charging us because we ordered it. Not sure if the I’m more bothered by the fact that they lied on the menu or how they treat us. The sushi was mediocre to boot.

The food is delicious & fresh but overpriced. The service, however, is garbage. The people are beyond rude. It’s as if they think they’re doing you a favor by being their customer.

Best sushi Ive had. Hands down ! Get the Kiku love boat for 2 and seaweed salad. You wont be disappointed. It comes with salad and soup too. It could feed 3 people easily.

This was the closest place selling Koran food from my work. Tried hot stone bowl and it was quite good taste. Not many Korean dishes and all are little expensive even for lunch manues. It’s more like Japanes and hibachi place selling few of Korean foods on side. Serving was slow or didn’t get much attention. Saw hibachi show next group having and not so much to see. Toss to mouth was terrible chef’s aim was bad. Might try for some Japanese food next time.

I went to Kiku with a party of 8 people. We had a reservation and arrived on time. As soon as we sat down we felt rushed. The woman who took our order was very rude and pushed us to hurry up when ordering. She was clearing our plates before we were even finished eating. When we paid the woman asked why we didn’t tip more then we did! There are plenty of great hibachi restaurants in the area and I’m sorry that we chose this one to celebrate at.

Food is always great at Kiku, very surprised they aren’t more busy. Food is always very fresh and we always get great service. I come all the time with myself and my friends and it’s always a great experience! You have to order the filet mignon, the best menu item!

My department brought in a large party to celebrate a colleague’s birthday on November 19, 2014. There was also another large party coming in. Some of us definitely went for the hibachi and others wanted sushi. When each of us arrived, we were told that all of us were not allowed to have hibachi because they weren’t going to turn on the hibachi grill and the meal would be prepared in the kitchen. As we ordered, some ordered sushi, a few teriyaki chicken and the rest of us wanted hibachi. When the waitress got to the 5th to last person who requested hibachi, she was told no more hibachi. Finally the waitress gave into the rest of my colleagues. The food itself was extremely bland. If you want top notch hibachi, go to SoGo 46 in Denville on Rte 46W. That is by far the best hibachi I have ever had. This place is not equipped mentally to handle two large parties at once. It’s either that or laziness. You think they would be happy to accommodate multiple large parties because of the amount of money made. There are plenty other restaurants in Bedminster and Basking Ridge that are better than here. I would not go back.

I’m giving this place three stars bc both times we visited Kiku they rushed us. When you’re going out for hibachi it is supposed to be an experience, and it was not. The food however was very good as is the sushi. It’s a BYOB which is nice.

Updating my review to 4 stars. The place has consistently good food. It is a BYOB, and there’s a liquor store across the street. They have many, many healthy options on the menu, and the service is always good.

The rolls are delicious, the ambiance is very nice and the service staff is very polite. I have not tried the hibachi here, but even though it is beside the sushi part of the restaurant, it does not take away from the atmosphere.

Fabulous hibachi lunch for bridal shower for 58 people. delicious food enjoyed by all ages! All were served within a reasonable amount of time. Ordered beautiful sushi boats as appetizers. worked out great to have appetizers ready while waiting for all to arrive. The staff was attentive and worked with me to set up extra tables for desserts and wine(BYOB)! I would highly recommend Kiku — from a private lunch for 2 up through a large party for 60!

Kiku is the main local Asian spot near my jersey office, so you can find me here for many a lunches. It never fails to satisfy any sushi cravings. Its always busy, but I’ve never had an issue with service or long waits. They are quick to ask what you want to drink/order though, so one might feel rushed if one doesn’t already know what they want to eat(not a problem for me). Lunch menu choices are diverse and to-the-point. Miso soups are never too salty and the salad dressings are never too artificially tangy, both comes with most lunch combos. I love sashimi… but my biggest fear at any Japanese place is stinky fish. Never a problem here. And the portions and variety are perfect for me… so much nom! Sometimes I’ll get a side of rice or a sushi roll for accompaniment. They used to have an excellent pineapple salmon appetizer that was such a fulfilling deliciousness… wish it wasn’t discontinued :(
