Pretty good burger. The fries are just ok. The fried pickles were awful: thick cut, tasteless batter with no crunch, they were no different than eating pickle slices. I had to pay for some fries and just leave the pickles. Stick with the fries or onion strings. Grumps, for comparison, has terrific fried pickles: thin sliced, crunchy and flavorful batter. Oh, and why are they so stingy with tomatoes? They make a point of you having to specifically ask for them, and they only give you one, and the one they give you is so small that you only get to taste tomato when you get to the center of the burger. When you ask for more, they act like its an odd request. They’ve done this on every visit. They throw lettuce and onions at you even if you tell them you don’t want them, but tomatoes? Ya gotta beg.

This place has been here now for about?(3 – 5) years and we FINALLY tested it out. Every time we drove by there were tons of cars there so that usually means it’s great or they are giving away free food that day! My husband and I usually only eat Turkey Burgers and we have been on a hunt for the best Turkey Burger. Until our visit to Twisted Root, our favorite was at Mooyah. Twisted Root turkey burgers were spectacular and the HOTTEST(temperature wise) food I have ever had.(Hate lukewarm food) I like that you can substitute any burger with a turkey burger. I had the ‘Shroom burger with Swiss Cheese and grilled onions. DELICIOUS! We split an order of French Fries and they were yummy also. However, next time I will probably ask to not have them seasoned as they were a little overly seasoned for our goal of a low salt diet. The manager(I think he said his name was Brett) came over and asked how everything was. He was very attentive and charming. The price is on par with all the other burger restaurants.(Mooyah, Red Robin, Fuddrucker’s) Also, the atmosphere was very surprising. It was way bigger on the inside than I ever imagined. And while you are waiting you can read the funny stickers and signs they have posted around the restaurant. AND if you want a beer, you can buy one! That would be appealing to many people I am sure. OK. Enough. I am now hungry! Thanks Unilocal

5÷30÷16: First time visiting a Twisted Root restaurant. Friends would tell me while the burgers are«ok,» they are not worth $ 10. After ordering the«Lots-a-Shroom» burger with the sweet potato chips, I would agree. The chips were stale and the burger was not seasoned. Bun was not grilled, although I don’t know if it’s marketed as such. I was going to order a burger with bacon; however, while placing my order, I noticed bacon in a steel container just behind the cash register. It appeared to be days old. Because of that, I switched my order. I also noticed the grill where the burgers are prepared; from my vantage point, it appeared to be laden with grease. Upon approaching the front door of the restaurant, there were visible handprints along the length and width of the doors. Will I return to this location? Probably not. I’ll visit another location before deciding if I’ll write Twisted Root off altogether.

I love love Twisted Root! But, this location… Not so great. My to go order was completely messed up, the staff isn’t attentive, and they never answer the phone. It’s really too bad.

Absolutely fantastic burgers. If you’re health conscious, try the buffalo burger. The sweet potato fries are fabulous, too. I’d highly recommend it!

YUM! Burgers are one of my favorite foods(somewhat unfortunately) and Twisted Root did not disappoint! I had heard that their burgers were pretty superb so I needed to try it! The boyfriend and I took the kiddo here one Saturday. The place was pretty tidy and somewhat empty. I got the Kevin Bacon burger(bleu cheese and LOTS of bacon) and it was super delicious. I liked that there’s a disclaimer on the menu that they cook the burgers to medium unless otherwise specified. I was excited to get a medium rare burger but I forgot to ask :(They have«adult milkshakes» which very much intrigued me but the shakes were about $ 5 each and when I saw them sitting on the counter(for other patrons), they did not look worth the $ 5 price tag. I had heard the fries were super fantastic but meh, they just tasted like normal fries to me. I’d go back, but just for the burger, nothing else seemed that great.

Yesterday marked my first experience with Twisted Root, after a year or so of driving by and wondering what all they had going on inside! It was way more than I was anticipating, although I should have figured this out by now simply by looking at their parking lot at lunch times on weekdays. Thursday, lunchtime, 12pm and they were slammed. I had to park in the lot next door and walk over! Lucky for me, it as a pretty day outside! Every employee inside was hustling, and bustling taking orders at the registering, working the line in the kitchen and cleaning tables inside. The lady at the cash register answered my sister and I’s questions quickly, but not hurriedly(she definitely knew her stuff!) and kept the line moving at a great pace. We placed our orders(a basic burger with american cheese and jalepenos for sister *hold the bun* and a Kevin Bacon(blue cheese and bacon) for me!) and then hit the bar to order up some Bloody Mary’s. The manager who doubled as a bartender whipped us up some awesome and HUGE drinks with a delicious limey salt… for a simple five bucks! Extra spice for us too. These Bloody Mary’s delivered I tell you! Back to the burgers… ONPOINT! They were cooked exactly the way we asked(speak up! or they are prepared medium well!) and a large portion for around $ 10 each. The sweet potato chips that I ordered on the side were awesome; I’d never had anything like them before! They were slightly dessert like, but hey. Burgers, Bloody Mary’s and dessert chips make a lovely, lovely Thursday lunch!

I’ll start by saying I LOVE Twisted Root! This was my first time at the Bedford location after many great experiences in Deep Ellum. We ordered two burgers to go, one verde with a gluten free bun, and one mushroom /Swiss with a regular bun. Got all the way home and found that the buns were switched. I’m highly allergic to gluten, so essentially a $ 10 burger went to waste. Not taking the time to drive back, just won’t be visiting again. Hopefully management works on quality control a bit. Very disappointed!

If you’re looking for a juicey all American burger this is the place to go. I had the most tasty Oreo chocolate milkshake too. It’s a great place to try out.

Take a minute to read the menu and ask questions if you aren’t sure about something. The staff is very helpful. All burgers are cooked medium well unless you specify your preference. We always order ours cooked medium, this very important if you choose Bison as it is naturally lean and may be a bit dry cooked medium well. Today I got the Western, pepper jack, bacon, jalapeño and onion stings, heaven on a bun. The burger was cooked exactly medium, warm pink center and still juicy. I remove the onion strings to eat separately because they are one of my favorites. The cheese was completely melted, bacon crispy and jalapeños were plentiful. My husband goes for a Kevin Bacon every time and as usual it was perfect. Plenty of crispy bacon and a generous amount of their delicious blue cheese. I normally don’t get the bun with a burger but these are toasty and so good that I always take a couple of bites before I take the bun off. Lots of great beers to choose from, I would love to have a chilled glass but that’s not an option. Our next visit we will try the custard shakes, they look wonderful.

Have heard a lot of great stuff about this place, and so we finally came. My fiancée and I ordered 2 burgers in the $ 7-$ 9 range, shared a side of fries($ 2), and I got a $ 2 Lone star. Somehow, our bill was about $ 35. What happened? Between our 2 burgers, there was a $ 9 up-charge, for choosing the kangaroo meat.(At least, this is my guess). The itemized bill didn’t even make sense, listing my $ 8.99 burger for $ 9.99, and with a $ 4 charge underneath if, for again, what I’m assuming was the meat. The same story for her burger. Now, I’m not saying the specialty meat should not cost more. I’m saying that the upcharges should have been clearly spelled out on the menu, and the cashier should have given us a heads up. That’s just not cool. The burgers were good. But not great. And the portion size was on the small side. Overall, OK food + small portions + over-priced = us not coming back again.

Went to this place a while back but just got around to reviewing it. I got the lots a shroom with bacon and some sweet potato chips. The burger was elk. The burger was good. Not too gamey, interesting menu and the cheese and meat were both pretty fantastic. The sweet potato chips were another story. They were gross. Idk why I didn’t like them but I didn’t. I’m a huge fan of sweet potato fries but not there. The price was reasonable and the different flavors of pickles were pretty awesome too. I’d def go here again if I were in the area.

Still a great burger. And the staff was great. Two ideas to think about: 1) .81 cents for a small container of ranch. Really? 2) Had the Freshman 15. Thought the fried egg was over cooked. A little runny yolk and it wouldn’t have been lost in the meat taste. Could have been a nice layer of flavor. Instead it got in the way.

Decent burgers. Good music. But seriously, twelve bucks for a regular burger and a drink? That’s asking a bit much. I mean seriously, does the burger do my dishes and now my lawn too?

We’ve been to the Bedford location a handful of times. The burgers are always fresh and cooked to order but the buns tend to be soggy. This is really my only complaint of the restaurant. Must try the root beer!

Twisted Root makes a damn good burger; it’s as simple as that. Everything is fresh and cooked perfectly which results in a totally satisfying indulgence. They also do things I’ve never seen another burger joint do such as offer a variety of patty choices(game meats, beef, a veggie patty, or even a hot dog) and free pickle bar. When we went the pickle flavors were atomic, sweet and spicy, bread and butter, dill, and ranch. Did I mention they even make their own root beer?! Yep, they rock. Creativity is certainly not something they lack and their ordering system proves that. Instead of giving you a number, you get a famous name they call when your grub is ready. This time they gave us Dirk Diggler which cracked me up. They use judgement when handing out names so not to fear. If you come with kids they will give you a different one that won’t leave you explaining what an AVN award is. I built my own burger and went classic with beef, lettuce, onion, tomato and their chipotle ketchup. What I call classic my husband calls boring but alas, it was delicious. He got the Western which looked great too with a beef patty, jalapeños, pepper jack cheese, bacon, and fried onion strings. I also highly recommend their house made sweet potato chips and shakes. I’ve never tried a shake myself because I’m too full by the end, but I’ve been with people who have and it’s always rave reviews all around. Free parking, good selection of beers, and even an outdoor seating area for when it warms up. We will be back!!!

This was a great burger! I had the cheeseburger with green Chilis and some onion strings on the side. The burger was huge and very tasty. Maybe just a tad on the rare side for me(I like my burger med well). The flavor made up for it but I will ask for med well next time. Prices for burgers were a little steep at about 30 bucks for 2 burgers, 2 sides and 2 drinks but again the quality made up for that. Pretty good burger option in this area. Come hungry and with $$.

Everyone was raving about how good the burgers are here. The menu is quite extensive. You can even build your own or something of that matter. They also offer game meat, which was interesting. Ended up with the Spicy Goat burger. Nothing really put me in a super wow mood. It was a typical burger that was dry. The goat cheese was a bit too much and masked the burger. I got a side of pork rinds. Those were super duper salty. Probably won’t be coming back.

You will always have a fun and exciting time coming to the twisted root. The décor, menu, and interactions with staff are all designed to create a unique and uplifting and enjoyable experience. Always ask what specialty meats are on that day, as the vary greatly, rabbit, bison, alligator, lamb, venison just to name a few over time. The food itself rocks! Freshly made sweet potato chips crispy hot tasty and not overly greasy. Cheese fries where the fries are crispy, cheese is melted throughout not just on top. All their sides are truly fresh and yumminess personified. Four different types of pickles are placed for toppings or snacking. They range from buttery to extremely hot. The burgers are fresh, 1⁄3 pound patties seasoned well, and placed on toasted buns. Each one is creatively topped, mushrooms, egg and bacon, guacamole and chilies, and a host of different cheeses. The price point starts at the $ 10 range but don’t be surprised when the per person hits $ 20+ when adding a side and drink. Lastly if you’re a thick shake person don’t forget to add this to your must have list.

This location is not as cool as the original restaurant but the food is still great. Big burgers with fresh ingredients. Big Tex $ 8.50 with cheddar, guac, fried onion strings with chipotle sauce on the side(not a big fan of the sauce). Yum! Enjoyed the sauces served at the table. Several kinds of pickles to choose from. Enough Said $ 7.50 with cheddar, delicious bacon-ranch sauce and fresh potato chips on top.
