Crazy Cowboy

I was looking for a new joint near my house and decided to try Crazy Cowboy with the high Unilocal ratings. I was very disappointed with my experience and haven’t been back. The food was terrible and service non existent. It’s been awhile since I went but what I remember the most was the bread that came with the dish was literally pulled from the packaging. They couldn’t even toast it, just gave us 2 plain slices of white bread.

Okay, so I’ve been to this place a total of three times. The first time was back in 2014, after they’d originally opened and they seemed to have a few kinks to be worked out. But ever since then, I’ve been back and had a great time with each visit!
This place is owned by a father son team who are on site most of the time during busy hours and the wife/​mom bakes the daily dessert. I like to come here because its always filled with friendly locals and regulars and it makes me feel like i’m living in a cute small town.
Food is pretty good! I’ve had a burger and a salad the two times i’ve been. But, again the best part was the homemade dessert. The bar is your good olé’, regular bar; basic mixed drinks and pints of beers… Shiner is on the menu, so I was good to go! Good happy hour specials too!
They have live music on either Friday or Saturday nights. Its definitely for more of an older, middle aged crowd, but hey– I still had a great time shaking my groove thing! They also have a super cute, small little patio with twinkle lights that we sat on during our first visit.

I’m sure the food is really good but the service was THE WORST I HAVE EVER HAD. We had 1 drink each and waited 35min and never got another one or ordered food. We went because this is an Iowa Hawkeye backer bar so it wasn’t packed. We normally go to Fox n Hound in FW because I am a Buckeye but my wife wanted to see if fans from her alma mater were as fun. These were some of the rudest non sociable Iowans I have ever met. We will never go back which is unfortunate because the food did look pretty good.
Either get more servers or train them. The one you had working wouldn’t last 2 minutes at a real Iowa bar.

You’re in Bedford on Central avenue. You’re hankering for good American grub and a cold drink. You think you wanna try that new Twisted Root. Well, pardner, think again. Cuz across the street from that place, at the end of that shopping mall, is this place: Crazy Cowboy. It has everything you’re looking for, and it’s a local establishment. I had the BLT. It was delicious. The bacon was tasty, the lettuce green and crunchy, the tomato was red and juicy, and it all came stacked inside Texas toast. Come in, now! Try Crazy Cowboy. It might be the most sane decision you made all day.

My husband and I both had the crazy cowboy burger and it was delicious! The only thing missing was pickles, which we love on a burger, but the server said if we had asked for them, they do have them available. Service was quick and friendly and the atmosphere was cozy, neighborhood bar friendly. My husband’s Shiner on tap was extra cold and delicious. My side of grilled asparagus was excellent and my husband’s side of the loaded baked potato was okay. I did not award five stars only because of two things: I asked for a lemon drop martini and the bartender said they had no lemons (a full service bar with no lemons?!), so I ordered a dirty martini, which was quite good; I also ordered their sliders, which sounded delectable on the menu, but the server said they were out of sliders. I ask her later if they are frequently out of sliders or if this was a rare occurrence and she said that they don’t actually serve sliders anymore, they just haven’t been removed from the menu. Patrons should not have to ask up front in a restaurant if there’s anything on the menu they aren’t offering that night. All that aside, we will be going back – the bartender was great, food was delicious, timely prepared, and presented in a friendly manner.
