Had previously only been here for brunch which I thought was just ok, but came for dinner the other night and it was excellent. Would’ve given 5 stars, but the service was painfully slow. I think they only had one server working on a Saturday night and the music was a little too loud.

The meal, ambiance and everything were delightful and delicious! The disappointment was the desert: poor selection. Other than that, it is a great find!!!

I loved the food. The presentation and flavors are delicious. I had the meatloaf sandwich with 2 of the side dishes. My only complaint is the portion size. It is tiny for an entrée. Also the dessert selection was disappointing. Everything was dairy and unappealing. I had the cookies without milk. Unfortunately, the cookie really was not very good for such a delicious meal. The cookie which was oatmeal chocolate chip had a bad cookie to chip ratio. The cookie was salty. You couldn’t taste the oats either. Still a really nice ambience and totally delicious tasting food. There were 3 in my party. All of us had different meals. All of us loved our choices. The chicken seemed the best sized portion.

They’ve made some awesome changes to their menu. Their michelada is on point! This has quickly become THE brunch spot in my book. Love you Eugene!!!

More places are starting to pop up in this side of Bed Stuy – and Eugene & Co is a nice welcome. I’ve been here twice, once for solo dinner and once for a late brunch, and both times the service was friendly and the food was good. For dinner I had a bunch of small plates, and really took to the fried tomatoes, which I don’t see on the menu anymore but trust me, they were good. During brunch, I had my fair share of bloody mary’s, which were excellently spicy. I also had the avocado toast, which was served on a hearty piece of grain bread and was super filling. I almost wanted to order another one, but I kept it together. What I really enjoy about Eugene & Co is the warm feeling I get when dining there – it really is a place for everyone in the neighborhood. I look forward to many more meals here!

Eugene and Co. is where I want to go to treat myself! It’s the kind of place that not only looks stunning but everything you eat and drink makes you smile. I try to have low key Sundays to recharge before the work week. I took a quick B38 bus ride from Bushwick on a Sunday and walked about 5 blocks. Lots of Bed-Stuy was already a sleep by 6pm. I walked into Eugene’s and I quickly noticed the design details from the feather-like chandelier to the white washed walls. It was reminiscent of the older and beautiful restaurants in the garden district of New Orleans. I found myself a nice little spot at the bar. It wasn’t too crowded but you could tell there were some neighborhood regulars. I felt like treating myself. I went over the wine list and was drawn to the Spanish wine. And when it arrived, just by smell, I knew I had made the right choice. I took my time looking over the menu. The albacore tuna was calling my name but I went for something light instead. The salad«spring greens» mentioned beets and fennel. I love beets and thought that would be perfect with my wine too. The bartender asked if I would like bread. I of course, said yes, like the bad New Yorker that I am. Someone else can count their calories. Tonight is all about me. When the bread arrived it was served in what looked like a paper bag but after closer inspection you can see these are bags that were made to look like a tossable bag but are instead reusable and crafted. And then I had a nice side of buttah! yum! And tiny little bowls for the salt and pepper. The bread is sourced from local bakery and recent fave, Saraghina. I swear this is one of the best salads I’ve ever had. Sometimes the best salad has the least ingredients. It’s the details that made this salad spectacular, the shaved paper thin beets and fennel and the candied fennel seeds were spectacular. I would have never even thought of candying spices to add sweetness and dimension to the salad. The goat cheese was light and airy. This salad was meticulously thought out, simple and most importantly delicious. As I was drooling over the salad and devouring the meal. The bartender asked me how my meal was. I was like«it’s incredible». And the woman next to me said, I didn’t have to be so kind. Turns out the owner herself, Tara Oxley, was enjoying the albacore right next to me. And as we chatted, her eye for details comes from her background in design. Oxley was very humble and extremely nice. I will be coming back for brunch and for that tuna very soon. Also have to add I ended up chatting up with another regular and we were insta-friends. We chatted and enjoyed maybe one too many glasses of wine and some chocolate. Life is short and sometimes you have to spend a little moolah and take care of número uno. And you gotta laugh the night away! Because life is worth more than money!

Updating to two stars! I did give this place a second chance a few months ago. They do accept credit cards now. However, the food was not good at all! Seriously, it was perhaps the most tasteless, bland fish dish I’ve ever had! Plus, the $ 6 shitty Mexican beer was more of an insult than the intention of making the place seem cool. They just miss the mark on so many levels! Opening up a shitty, overpriced restaurant that’s so obviously just for whites in a black neighborhood is beyond insulting. It’s actually amazing how places like this survive in NYC. (I’m Caucasian, if that matters at all)

This is a cute little neighborhood spot we stumbled on in Bedstuy for my birthday lunch. It was all but empty so we really got to see everything at its best. My favorite part of this restaurant is the bathroom. I love all the artwork on the wall, its all different and it’s like a mini gallery. I also loved to soap, it’s literally like soap on a stick you have to like rub this soap stick, it very gloriously inappropriate and fun all at the same time, kind of like a shake weight. Since we were the only patrons we obviously were served immediately. The menu is light, sandwiches and salads. I had both and my sister had a salad. Both where fresh and light and nice and health. I had a chicken avocado sandwich with a fried egg, it was ok. I ended up taking the sandwich apart and just adding the chicken, avocado(spread), and egg to my salad. There was like 3 layers of bread which mad it difficult to bite. None the less the place was a great stop and I would come back again.

I wouldn’t go back. The menu sucks. Not much to choose from or anything really tasty. It’s dark in the spot. I guess it all depends on what you’re looking for. If you want to hang out for a few beers and a snack, by all means, try it out. But if you want a good meal, DONOTGOTOTHISSPOT.

We went to Eugene & Company for the first time well over a year and a half ago and were instantly hooked. Tara, the owner spent time with us explaining how she came to open the farm to table restaurant. The staff was, and is tremendously friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The ambiance is terrific(even pleasing the critical eye of my interior design partner). Our first visit was a winter dinner. My other half is vegetarian and he went absolutely crazy over the roasted cauliflower«steak». Understandably so. Being an omnivore and not much of a vegetarian, I tried it anyway, wow. I loved it. With each season the menu changes. The kitchen never, ever ceases to amaze us. They take the freshest and tastiest of local everything. The chef and staff concoct the best of dishes. Thank you Tara and staff for making dinner and brunch an fantastic journey. And thanks for making your restaurant such a warm and inviting place to be. And BrownGod B., no, you shouldn’t be so critical of white people… LOL. My parter is Asian and he adores this place, just as I do. It hardly reeks of being tone deaf. Oh, either learn to be sassy or learn to spell«Def» in «Tone Def» please.

Eugene & Co. is cute! I visited late last night around 10:00pm and was immediately seated by the kind hostess. We had to order from the late night menu, and unfortunately there wasn’t much of a selection. Cheese boards, salad, veggies and a meat loaf sandwich. I ordered a salad and the meat loaf sandwich and split it with friend. The food was delicious! I just wish there was more of a selection to choose from. Would love to try this place for brunch or dinner, where I can explore a greater variety of dishes offered. All is good at Eugene & Co., but be prepared for a very minimal late night menu. If you’re looking for steak and potatoes after 10pm — you won’t be getting it here!

EDIT: I shouldn’t be so critical of white people(I’m «Asian», BTW). Its an alright spot, but I still think it reeks of being tone def. For a much tastier farm to table restaurant in the neighborhood, try Willow. ORIGINALPOST Right from the jump this place irked me the wrong way. Owner(or head bartender) right off the bat seemed snooty. It had just opened. Overpriced for a draft beer. No non-white patrons or workers. Literally everything that annoys the shit outta me. THEHARSHBUTHONESTPART: It honestly seems like a place for white people to feel super comfortable in a neighborhood that probably doesn’t welcome them(these types of places don’t help, guys). THEHONESTPART: Last year I decided to boycott places that hurt the general racial/class anxiety of the neighborhood. The boycott ended up being amazing, b/c there are enough great places around that don’t take me think Civil Rights never happened. Then, a month ago, very hung over, I succumbed and got a sandwich from there. It didn’t taste good, at all. You can’t do a chicken sandwich right next to Peach’s and have it not be really good. Seriously. My friends brisket looked tasty though. Note to Eugene & Co Owners: Don’t open up in bed stuy and only hire white people(its soooo boring and tone def). ANOTHERHARSHPART: If you want to build a country cabin in the city to relive the past when white people were on top(my personal theory on all the cabin-esque bars and weird 18th century dressup people play), don’t do it in Bed Stuy. Its much more fucked up than you realize. Nah, b. Not for me.

I very rarely leave reviews, good or bad. I was thoroughly disappointed in the to-go order I had. For $ 20 the pork belly was fantastic but NOT at all a «large plate» by any means.

One of the best new restaurants in Bed-Stuy; hands down. The chef brings taste to a new level, blending local, fresh and healthy ingredients in creative and stunning ways. The staff were super consistent in the execution of each meal. Our favorite dishes featured a beautiful balance of fresh ingredients like seasonal vegetables and herbs and local fishes and meats. Highlights included the burrata, roasted whole sweet potato, market vegetable board and pork belly. Our waiter was great about making adjustments to accommodate our dietary restrictions. I generally don’t order drinks, but theirs are worth it. As is dessert. Overall, excellent food, great staff, and a cozy space!

Good, not great. The waitstaff is SUPER friendly and the ambiance is nice, so it’s a perfectly solid neighborhood spot. I live down the street so I’ve been several times for brunch and dinner. The food(especially the meatloaf!) has always been tasty, but nothing too exceptional. For the quality, I personally think it’s a little overpriced, but that won’t stop me from returning for a quick drink/bite here and there.

Easily one of the best in the hood and one of the tops in the borough. Friendly folks, great drinks, and damn good food(biscuits to meatloaf it’s all good). Also, one of the best bathrooms in the game. Don’t act like that’s a weird thing to say, just shut up and enjoy it, it’s dope. Go for brunch then go back for dinner.

Arrived with 3 friends around 8pm on Friday night and were seated immediately — my guess is that will not last. It’s pretty dark inside but enough light for patrons to crane their necks around checking out what is being served to nearby tables. I drank beer which was a good price($ 4 Busch can/$ 7 for fancy pints) $ 11 cocktails were competent — Negroni was the tastiest. Cheese plate was probably the highlight of my night. We went with the large($ 17) version. 6 pretty generous portions of cheese along with a splendid honey and some Key Food grapes(low point of the evening) that nonetheless did not taint the board. Meat board was pretty standard for the neighborhood but more generous than Saraghina. For dinner we split the pork belly appetizer, seafood pasta, chicken and short ribs. Pork belly was the highlight with some balanced greens, a little ginger and some watermelon cubes. The other entrees used somewhat more daring seasoning — difficult to process but definitely interesting flavors. Table also split the market vegetable board — came with watermelon radish, golden beet and shaved Brussels sprouts. The sprouts were the best but all were enjoyable. Finished up with milk & cookies — cookies were pretty great — salty and sweet pretty warm and gooey chocolate. Choice of milks — we went with almond. Our server was cordial and responded pretty well. My recommendation would be to go for drinks, split a meat and cheese board and maybe go for the biscuits(I’ll be sampling those on my next visit)
