Avalon Clothing Vail & Beaver Creek

Last year I purchased a beautiful leather coat from Avalon. Somehow I got a small stain on it and attempted to remove the stain with water on a soft cloth. I got the stain out easily but the water left a large water mark. I have owned leather jackets for years; I wear leather shoes; I have leather seats in my car – it never occurred to me not to use water to clean my coat. I USE WATER ALL OF THE TIME ON THESE LEATHER OBJECTS. Think about this– do cows come inside when it rains? So, my wife brought the jacket to a local cleaner who specialized in leather and he accidentally removed the finish. I showed the jacket to the people at Avalon over the summer and they suggested I send the coat to a specialist in Chicago. I did and the leather still looks terrible. To compound the situation, in the shipping small tears were created where the zipper was pushed against the leather. Liability was denied and somehow I was made to believe I was at fault. I once again contacted Avalon telling them I wanted to talk to the manufacturer of the coat but I was told they are «unavailable». So I called Avalon’s manager and she blatantly said they deny liability. I beg to differ – I should have been told this material was fragile and water should not be used to clean it. Nowhere was this disclaimer mentioned.
What bothers me most is that Avalon assumes no responsibility in their omission about the fragility of the garment and their total lack of attempting to repair it. In the Biblical dialect I was told to «BE FRUITFUL AND MULTIPLY MYSELF».
So if anyone is in the market to splurge on a luxurious jacket – DO NOT GO TO THIS STORE!!!
