I’ve become a big fan of Louisianian specials recently and this was another gem. I love gumbo, especially duck andouille gumbo and was very sad when they told me they were out. I opted for the cup of chicken sausage gumbo instead and it was delicious. Hearty, good salty and just a hint of smoky. Sausage chunks were large as were chicken chunks. I followed up with the original shrimp salad which was tasty and cooling. Cherry tomatoes were super fresh. Unclear if that’s a Louisiana thing or a restaurant specific thing however. Oh! And of course I had a half dozen charred and raw oysters to share and it the charred were the best I’ve had.

I’m not from Louisiana and don’t understand a lot of this food like étouffée and craw dad and gumbo but man this place was good. We got blackened alligator tail and char broiled oysters as an appetizer… Holy crap. Awesome. I got some fried shrimp with crab étouffée on top and was so stuffed but it was great. The ranch dressing is homemade and really good which is huge in my book too. Definitely worth a try!

Forgot to hit the«Post» button 2 days ago. The food — «Thin» catfish, hushpuppies and mac-n-cheese was excellent. A little pricey for a restaurant attached to a hotel, but they have big portions and the food is superior. oSince I was alone, it seemed like I was left out in regards to service. I needed to ask a second time for my drink and eventually took my check to the person doing the seating to see if someone else could take my check. I’m confident that it was just my server(Avery). I would have given 5 stars if the service was better.

Had a wonderful lunch at Mike Anderson’s today! The Wednesday lunch special was a great choice! My only complaint is the server forgot our appetizer and that is why I gave this a three star review. Other than that the meal was absolutely perfect. I had four huge shrimp covered in the most wonderful crab sauce. While only four shrimp may sound small, trust me with the sauce they are finished with and the stuffed potato on the side it was the perfect lunch sized plate. I might have ordered dessert but our waiter never asked if we wanted any and just brought us our check. Maybe next time we will have a better waiter and I can bump it to four stars but for now I will give it a three.

Going on a Friday night there was a little bit of a wait as expected, however, when we were seated there were a ton of available tables. The restaurant was decorated for the holidays and they had the fireplace going so it was very cozy. As we were leaving we noticed outside seating that seemed to be heated for the couple days of cold fronts we get could be nice. They had a big tv over the fireplace with football on if you don’t really like the people you are out with I guess ;) lol My boyfriend had their catfish, shrimp, and oysters combo dinner that came with hush puppies, a side, and salad. He liked it, but said he liked chimes catfish better. I had to try the oysters of course. Originally, I was going to get the 2+2+2 to try all the kinds bienville, Rockefeller, and their Italian but the waiter talked me out of it. He recommend me just getting the bienville that they were the best and they don’t have it on the menu anymore. So that’s what I got and I was happy I did they were yum yum. We also had the bacon wrapped jalapeño cream cheese shrimp appetizer. I really loved our server very nice and always on top of his game. Also, he was very helpful with discussing the menu originally because he had asked if we had ever been and we told him we hadn’t. I would go back for sure and if I remembered his name I’d probably call to see if he was working then request him as a server.

Mike Anderson’s is one hoppin’ place! Great Bar, and nice dining room. When we arrived a Sports News team was packin’ up after doin’ a broadcast from the bar. Mike Anderson’s Seafood has been around for a really long time 40 years in 2015! It’s clean and has a great ambience with beautiful aquariums throughout the restaurant. For starters, we(the 4 of us) ordered the Grilled Crab Claws & we’re so glad we did! They were outstanding! Be sure and order a side of bread for soppin’. Three ordered the Cajun Plate that came with dinner salad with Remoulade Dressing, Fried Shrimp, Fried Catfish, a cup of Seafood Gumbo a cup of Crawfish Étouffée & hushpuppy, I ordered the Jumbo Gulf Fried Shrimp w/baked potato. Everyone was really pleased with what they ordered.

Had dinner with the family here on a Sunday night. It was the first time I have been since the fire a few years ago. I like the décor changes they made though a few improvements would make it even that much better(the drop ceilings look cheap, the Mexican floor tiles were horribly dirty especially the grout, and the aquariums were nothing spectacular and poorly maintained). But the service was great with our waiter very attendant to our needs and was very friendly. The food was very good… properly cooked, well seasoned, and fresh. My mother-in-law had the tenderloin and it had good flavor and was a perfect medium which she ordered. My wife ordered the hamburger and it had great grill taste. She ordered it plain, but it still came with shredded lettuce, pickles, and tomato piled on the plate which was a bit annoying but tolerable I guess. But nothing was served with ketchup… fine by me as I don’t eat it, but when serving fries and fried seafood, one would expect a small side of ketchup served and not having to ask for it. They served Mayo on the side in small paper cups, so ketchup wouldn’t be that difficult. And I ordered the Black Drum covered in breadcrumbs, spices, oil, and herbs. The fish was cooked perfectly and was fresh. However, the topping that was on it was excessively strong of bitter garlic and had way too much compared to the amount of fish there. That is the only thing I would change with that dish. Overall a good experience and would visit them again.

My wife and I are still a fan of this place! Went here for a work dinner. Food was good as usual. No complaints whatsoever. If you’re in the area, you’ve got to give it a try. You might want to come a little early to get a parking spot, so be ready for that. Other than parking, no complaints.

Good food and service, but the restaurant is very cold. Make sure you bring your jacket in. Seafood gumbo was tasty. Boudin balls were good, boiled crawfish was good and so were oysters on the half shell. Crawfish 7-ways is over rated. Go with the boil, it’s fresh and gets

Place is nice and clean with pretty aquariums in the walls. Salad was basic, lots of lettuce, 2 cherry tomatoes and 3 croutons. I had the shrimp Norman which was okay, but the étouffée wasn’t really flavorful, more like shrimp covered in cream gravy. Stuffed potato had a lot going on. Overall was a very heavy meal. My partner had I think the mikes special which was served in a lot of strong sauce. Cole slaw was really good though. Server was nice and food came out crazy fast, it was a Tuesday night though. If I came back, I’d probably order different things but not sure I would.

We went here for Lunch one Sunday after church. I ordered the chargrilled oysters, they were ok. My husband had the gumbo, it was pretty good. Our server was very nice and attentive. We had the grilled chicken and grilled pork-chop, both were very good, grilled to perfection with a sweet marinade. I had the dirty rice, it was really good, but spicy. Overall I really enjoyed it.

The gumbo and oysters were excellent. Only disappointment was that they actually had nothing on hand to crack the crab claws open with. I had no idea how to get the damn things open without them and neither did the staff. Other than that it was all good. Hope to have the opportunity to drop in again someday.

Several appetizers were excellent, fried green tomatoes, boudain balls, onion rings. 20 people was a challenge for them and they had some logistical issues. My only complaint is, they tell you that a fish special is made with speckled trout then insult you by serving drum. Like we wouldn’t know the difference.

I had heard many great things about this place and most of the reviews looked promising so I figured why not give it a try. The overall experience was a mix of hit and miss. The hits included the cole slaw, the service, the fish, and the au gratin crab. The misses were pretty funky and or bland. The shrimp in two of the dishes were way overcooked. They also have this breadcrumb stuffing that is mixed into many of the dishes with pieces of the seafood. To me it had a strange mouth feel– mushy and not what I was looking for. Avoid the mac and cheese as it was flavorless. I would probably go back and just stick with the fish. I’m curious if the other locations are better???

Oh Mike Anderson’s, it’s only been a day and I miss you already! My husband is a BR native and every time we visit his parents take us to his fave seafood place, HERE! I am obsessed(obsessed!!) with the perfectly drains, perfectly crispy fried green tomatoes topped with remoulade and crawfish.(In my hometown in Nor Cal we call them crawdads. I have by to remind myself not to call them that here!) On our most recent visit I had the crawfish 7 ways. Everything on the plate was good but the cocktail, stuffed potato and bisque were my favorite. I didn’t realize there were crawfish in the potato until I scooped out my first bite and was surprised by a fat little nugget of deliciousness! I’ve also had the fried alligator which was crisp and tender. Their fry cook has it down! My husband’s fave is the crab au gratin. Omg, it’s sin on a plate. Quite possible the most decadent entrée I’ve ever tasted. We’ve never made it to dessert here so I can’t comment on that but I hear the bread pudding is a winner. The atmosphere can be either romantic or casual depending on what LSU sport is in season and on the tv’s. I personally love the ambiance. I can’t wait to come back during our next trip. Until then fried green tomatoes, I love you…

This is not a review about the food. The food was pretty good and would get 4⁄5 stars. My complaint is about the service I received. I ordered take out and was told it would be ready in 20 – 25 minutes. So I left and got there 25 minutes after the order. I was greeted by the person behind the desk and inquired of my order. After 20 seconds she says that she forgot to put the order in! So she could expedite the order and get it out. Awesome, a little upset as I had a movie to catch, but there was another one 30 minutes later, so I’ll wait. After ~20 minutes the food is finally ready. How the situation was handled was where I am upset. I have worked in the service industry for quite some time and know when you make a mistake like that, you try and make it a little better. Im not saying give me the food free, but how about at least a 20−50% discount for making me wait? NOPE! Nothing. Actually, less than nothing. They have a $ 0.50 pickup charge. Guess what, didn’t take that off either! Hows that for a middle finger. And to top it all off, my side salad that came with my order? Didn’t get that. Nothing. So would I recommend this place? Maybe, don’t order pick up ever. Not going to go out of my way to eat here either after this.

Had the chargrilled oysters which were fantastic. The Guitreau was ok, being from Florida. My buddy order the seafood platter which I tried and was great. Try this place out as it is good food.

Quality seafood, decent beer/wine selection and friendly, efficient service in a setting that will take you back a few years. I’m not generally a fan of a restaurant this large, but the food makes it worth visiting. The crab au gratin was very good, as was the salad. My coworkers went with a variety of shrimp, fish and ribs, followed by a better-than-average bread pudding and pumpkin cheesecake. Great dinner, start to finish!
