Excellent meal and service! From the cucumber martini to the coffee! Stuffed seafood green pepper, oysters, house salad, entrée fish special with lobster and banana bread pudding… The while experience was superb. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Wow! We love this place! My sister was visiting us from out of town so we wanted to take her somewhere nice. I just randomly picked this place from Unilocal and scored big. The place was pretty packed and we were told it would be at least a 30 minute wait(on a week night, even). We looked at the bar area and saw an empty table and sat down right away so that was a good start. So first off, the food was STELLAR. I don’t recall now what all we had, but me, my wife and my sister all loved our dishes. Everything was seasoned and cooked to perfection. Second, our drinks were great! My sister ordered her very first dirty martini. She’s officially a big girl now! *applause* She’s not quite used to such strong drinks but she liked it. As martini drinkers, the missus and I both agreed it was good. Finally, our server was absolutely perfect. All the staff we came into contact with were, actually. I wish I could remember our server’s name so I could tell all you Unilocalers about her. She was so spot-on with recommendations, taste, wit and charm, the epitome of what a great server should be. She even convinced us to order the blueberry bread pudding w/cogńac sauce for dessert. We don’t usually do dessert, especially after such a good, big meal but we did it. No regrets! She absolutely nailed down the good experience for us, though. We’ll be coming back here for sure.

I’ve been to Louisiana Lagniappe with friends and family on several occasions. Every time has been excellent. From the appetizers through the desert, I have always left the restaurant thinking, wow, that was a delicious meal. That would include everything on the menu. One of the most consistently great restaurants in Baton Rouge.

Once again I had the pleasure of dining at Louisiana langiappe and it was fabulous as usual. This time I had the fish en papillote which is fish baked in parchment paper and it was great! Creamy sauce and perfectly cooked fish

So far, this has been my favorite overall restaurant since moving to Baton Rouge. We loved the classiness of the space(without being pretentious), the menu selections and the overall atmosphere. Appetizer: their house salad with some kind of local sauce. Delicious! My husband keeps saying that he wants to go back for more of it. Entrée(me): Fresh Fish en Papillote(Fresh fish topped with lump crabmeat and shrimp stuffing). This was delicious! It was a heaping portion so I wasn’t able to finish it all but made sure to take the extras home. Being new to south Louisiana, I’d never had anything like this before and it did not disappoint. Entrée(husband): Shrimp and Andouille Pasta. My husband isn’t much of a seafood eater but even he thought this dish had a lot of flavor. As someone who does like seafood, I thought it had a lot of flavor even though I liked mine better! There are several other dishes on the menu I’d like to try so we will definitely be back. It seems like a very good place to bring people from out of town!

I’m not kidding when I say that this is my favorite restaurant in Baton Rouge. I enjoyed it so much I called everyone I was close to and told them about How yummy my dinner was. I got the redfish amandine with soft shell crab on top. I had eaten a lot of bread and gotten some gumbo prior to my entrée so I only ate half of it and took the other half home. I was legitimately sad when we got home because I wasn’t hungry but I really wanted to eat the second half. Funny but true, the next day my boyfriend accidentally threw the box away and when I went looking for it later that day after having looked forward to eating it again all day long I discovered his mistake and I was really upset. Like unnaturally upset over food lol. But I just wanted to emphasize how so very good it was. You won’t regret going here.

This is gonna be short and sweet. Have your bus people keep a better eye on things like water and dishes needing removal. The food is off the hook good. That was the second best filet I’ve had in my life, and the Louisianne concoction it was topped with was an excellent modification. We will be back, and will be trying the Destin location as well.

The Louisiana Lagniappe restaurant is a gem in Baton Rouge. We started out our dinner with a cup of gumbo. It was nicely spiced and fully flavored. The fresh fish for the evening was drum, a flaky white fish caught in the gulf. For both our dishes, it was sautéed which was done very nicely. I had the Louisianne in which the fish is topped with lump crab meat; my wife had the Almondine in which the fish is topped with(you guessed it) slivered almonds. Entrees include a house salad and the included side was a double baked potato. We both enjoyed our dishes very much. Service was attentive but not overbearing. Prices are not cheap, but are well worth it. Louisiana Lagniappe Restaurant gets the highest recommendation from me. If you’re looking for cajun/creole seafood in Baton Rouge, give it a try.

Went here for dinner one night when we didn’t feel like cooking. It had been recommended by several people and it is across the street from our apartment in Perkins Rowe. The parking lot was full and so was the bar and restaurant. We did get seated quicker than I thought considering how busy they were. A runner brought some bread over for us to munch on while we waited for our server. We perused the wine list, which had a nice variety of by the glass selections and moderate bottle prices. The also had a page of featured wines by the glass. A dry reisling caught our attention and we ordered a bottle. The server told us about the specials and answered all our questions about the menu. We started with the marinated crab fingers. The serving was larger then we expected and absolutely divine. Some olive oil, garlic and parsley. The crab as fresh and the flavors were great together. I could have eaten these as my meal. We used some of the bread to mop up the remaining sauce. Shortly after finishing the appetizer, our salads arrived. The house sensation dressing was good, not overly sweet. When the entrees arrived, we could barely wait to dig in. The aromas were heavily. The tuna was cooked perfectly, the shrimp was not over cooked, the the crab was very flavorful. The pineapple, Rum butter sauce as so good and a perfect complement to the dish. The pasty wrapped fish my BF had wax equally as good. Perfectly cooked fish, with a well seasoned crab stuffing. The prices here are a bit on the expensive side, but the portions were large and the food awesome. We will be back.

For years, the fish papillote was one of my favorite meals in the Baton Rouge area. While it has not lost its great taste, the price is a bit high, for what you get. The failure to take reservations and extended waits have kept me away on several occasions. Additionally, the parking lot is not big enough to accommodate guests, leaving people driving in circles and waiting on others to exit. At the same price point and with a reservation, I can eat at a GW Finns in New Orleans, which also provides a far superior dining experience. Lagniappe is worth trying, for those who have not been and will remain one of the best seafood establishments in Baton Rouge. It just isn’t worth the trouble, especially on a weekend.

After seeing all the reviews and magazine features I finally tried Louisiana Lagniappe last weekend. I recommend making a reservation as the wait was long. The interior is charming. I enjoyed sitting near the fireplace. You can definitely tell at one point the place was a Mediterranean eatery. The waitress was so kind and professional. She recommended the stuffed bell pepper. It was excellent. The lump of crap on top was the right touch to complete the dish. My friends also enjoyed their dinner. I would have to agree this is definitely where one can find good seafood.

Let me start off by saying the prices were steep and the quality of the deep fried seafood that you receive from it is good, but may or may not be proportional to its price tag in some people’s opinion. I ordered the Louisianne for $ 28 and my wife ordered the Pontchartrain for $ 32 and I thought they were both delicious. If I ever return I will probably order the Pontchartrain because I liked it more than my order of the Louisianne. Now realize I do not eat Cajun/Creole food all the time, so I am not an expert in the taste of it, but I do know if I have it too often I will most likely keel over from a heart attack. Now I was disappointed in the bread rolls and butter. It was too plain for a restaurant that appears to be reaching for a high standard of excellence! Think Texas Road House baked rolls and awesome butter and you’re close to 5 stars. Seriously, the bread and butter selection needs an overhaul.

I’ve dined here many nights and the consistency and quality is superb. From the owner to the busboys the staff is second-to-none. A wide range of seafood offers diverse tastes to diverse palettes. My favorite dish is the Ponchatrain(fish du jour with fried soft shell crab). Try the tuna special…

Stopped into this location while traveling in the area on business. My local business partners highly recommended this location and they were right on. Had the crab cake and mushroom appetizers. The crab cakes were a fairly even amount of meat and breading. I tend to enjoy Maryland style crab cakes with large lump crab. This is Louisiana style(obviously right) crab cakes which is more of a shredded crab meat with the breading. Still a tasty crab cake with good seasoning. The stuffed mushrooms were good lots of flavor. I had the bacon wrapped yellow fin tuna topped with crab and hollandaise sauce. This was absolutely wonderful. The flavors mixed together and it’s one of those meals I actually slowed down and ate a bite at a time and savored each bite. I got the Pecan Pie to go it was ok. I would give it a 3.5 out of 5 stars for it. It was just a little over cooked but the pie was made well. I will try this location again for sure on my next trip to the area.

So far THE best dining experience since we have relocated to the Baton Rouge area for work. We had dined numerous times in the Destin location while on vacation and when we lived there and this one is similar in menu but the space is completely different. In fact I would encourage this location to relocate to a bigger place in order to serve more folks the great food they offer. We went very early on a weekday night and had dinner. Keep in mind when dining here that you are not going to see much diet food and that the seafood dishes are going to be rich, yummy and satisfying. I sat at the bar and had a quick cocktail while waiting on the wife. Bar is small and not all that inviting but you are not here for the bar. We had the Oysters Lagniappe. Divine. Order them NOW. Oysters Lagniappe. Fresh Gulf oysters baked in the shell with our special Lagniappe stuffing and jumbo lump crabmeat. $ 14 Also the Louisiana Seafood Gumbo, must have. Traditional gumbo, made with fresh crabmeat, shrimp and oysters in a rich seafood stock. $ 7 Also had the almondine fish and BBQ Shrimp. Stuffed and happy, no dessert. Planning next trip. Small dining room and parking lot. Get there early or be prepared to wait and bar is not accommodating for that so… A MUST in Baton Rouge.

This is usually a very busy place. Style is casual upscale. Table cloths but casual to slightly dressy crowd . Food is solid, but not great. My gumbo was very good. The crab cakes were good but for me, they should be more crab and less bread crumbs. Service is attentive and staff is very cordial. Worth the trip. Apps are $ 10 – 15 and entrees $ 20 – 38.

Everyone knows this is a five star restaurant. They have to know it because it’s nearly impossible to get a parking spot in the smallish lot at 7:00. It’s clear that it’s worthy of the highest rating since people arriving are more than willing to eat dinner in the bar area on smallish high top tables. I can’t imagine they are giving up much in they way of conversation since most folks are too busy eating to talk. I ate there on two successive nights(Yes it’s just that good). Here is the rundown. First courses: Chipolte Shrimp, was OK. Shrimp were good quality and fresh only complaint was I expected more heat from something with Chipolte in the name. If you normally shy away from spicy foods, no need to avoid these. You get to say you had some chipolte pepper sauce and you won’t break a sweat. Blackened Shrimp, this is where the heat is. Not enough to make serious friends of capsaicin worry, but nice flavor and not a bad dish for newbies to try out their spice palette. Crawfish Boudin Balls. These are delish, craw-fish, rice and some other stuff with a remoulade made with AWSOME. These may only be menu items for May so check. I’m sure their fine no matter what they are made of, but I’d kill for these. Main Dishes: Fresh Fish en Papillote. A signature dish and a crab meat stuffing that’s just wonderful. Even my friend who has a serious commitment to carb avoidance thoroughly enjoyed this dish. The fish and the crab and the stuffing really just work well and it has a nice presentation in the parchment. Red Fish Special. This was a special one night. It was a blackened red drum fish with a crab meat topper and a beurre blanc sauce. Another winner on the plate. The portion is rather large as well and only finished it by sheer force of will. The fish is flacky and the spiciness of the blackening and the smoothness of the beurre blanc really gives you nice mouth feel. Had dessert one night which was a slice of Key Lime Pie. Not the Key Lime“iest” buy a good slice none the less. In the end it was a good capper to a very nice meal. So if you’re in the area, or within 20 miles of the place do stop in. Plan some extra time if you are going from 6−8ish as you will likely have to wait for a table. They don’t do reservations, but whet they do do is seafood. And it’s done well, but if your in the Baton Rouge area someone probably told this already,’cause everyone knows.

I honestly don’t know where the bad reviews are coming from for this restaurant. I was shocked to get on here and not see at least 4.5 stars for this place! Undoubtedly the best meal I’ve had here in Baton Rouge, and I’ve been to a ton of great restaurants here. It’s pricey but definitely worth it. The fish is so fresh and service was excellent too. The shrimp and oysters are also out of this world. Our server«L»(not sure how to spell his name!) was awesome and extremely attentive. I’m sure it’s gonna be a while but I already can’t wait to go back! We went on a Saturday night and waited for about 35 minutes before getting a table but maybe it’s a good time to go for the best food? The wait was no problem and after the meal we had I would have waited 2 hours for it!

My family has gone here at these twice a year for the past 5 years. This is still my absolute favorite restaurant! The hostesses are always friendly, wait staff is above and beyond, and the food is always superior. I had a moment of plate envy when I saw the Fried Grouper tacos, so my server talked me into ordering that special instead of my all time favorite the Ponchartrain. She said the tacos were better… well, let’s just say they definitely competed, and I don’t regret trying something new because the fish taco special was to die for! Perfect amount of crunch and robust flavor to make my mouth water when I thought about the leftovers the next day ;-). I told the server to tell the chef to keep it on the menu to compete with the Rumhouse’s tacos down the street, but the truth is neither restaurant is struggling for business ;-) We also tried out some kids’ menu items were the first time — the cheeseburger and fried shrimp — both were great portions, delicious, and only $ 10 each. Another favorite ordered was the sweet and mouth-watering Chargrilled Tuna and the Oysters Lagniappe. This restaurant is a must in Baton Rouge… but get there before 6 because they get packed every night!
